Expression and significance of TGF-beta1 and HSP70 in human laryngeal squamous cell carcinoma.

Abstract:
OBJECTIVE:To investigate the expression of TGF-beta1 and HSP70 in human laryngeal squamous cell carcinoma.
METHOD:The expression levels of TGF-beta1 and HSP70 in 53 specimens of human laryngeal squamous cell carcinoma and 48 specimens of para-carcinoma were detected by immuno- histochemistry and computer assisted image analysis.
RESULT:The expression of TGF-beta1 was decreased in carcinoma tissues compared with para-carcinoma tissues ( P < 0.05), while the expression of HSP70 was increased ( P < 0.05). Both the expression of TGF-beta1 and HSP70 were significantly correlated with the differentiation of laryngeal squamous cell carcinoma (P < 0.01 or P < 0.05). However, there was a negative correlation between TGF-beta1 and HSP70 (r = -0.87, P < 0.01).
CONCLUSION:TGF-beta1 and HSP70 play an important role in malignant behaviors of human laryngeal carcinoma.
