				        	Objective To study the relationship between the serum level of matrix metalloproteinases-9 (MMP-9),carotid plaque and human cytomegalovirus (HCMV) infection in the patients with carotid atherosclerosis (CAS). Methods The antigen of HCMV-PP65, serum level of MMP-9 and the results of coloured doppler sonography from 90 cases with CAS were analyzed and compared.
