- Abstract: Atherosclerosis(AS)is a chronic multifactorial in-flammatory disease with undefined pathogenesis,which is the major pathogenic cause of cardiovascular disease(CVD).Quer-cetin is a natural polyphenolic compound abundantly present in various vegetables and fruits,which exerts protective effects on AS through anti-inflammatory,antioxidant,lipid metabolism regulation,as well as anti-senescence biological properties.In recent years,given the large number of related studies emerged at home and abroad,this review aims to summarize the research progress and mechanisms regarding the role of quercetin in the prevention and treatment of AS to provide reference for future re-lated research.
