Abstract:
Objective:To explore the effect of health education based on the empowerment theory in postoperative rehabilitation of cervical spine surgery patients. Methods:From April 2019 to June 2020, 100 patients with cervical spine surgery who were admitted to the Affiliated Huaian First People's Hospital of Nanjing Medical University were selected by convenience sampling as the research object. The patients were divided into the control group and the observation group with the random number table, 50 cases in each group. The control group received routine nursing, and the observation group was given health education based on the empowerment theory on the basis of the control group. The rehabilitation exercise compliance scores and quality of life scores were compared between the two groups before and after the intervention. Results:After 6-months of follow-up, 2 cases in the observation group and 4 cases in the control group dropped out. The total scores of rehabilitation exercise, rehabilitation exercise outcome monitoring, active seeking advice compliance and rehabilitation exercise compliance behavior in the observation group were higher than those in the control group, and the differences were statistically significant ( P<0.05) . The scores of physiological function, daily living ability, psychology, social dimension and total score of quality of life of the observation group were higher than those of the control group, and the differences were statistically significant ( P<0.05) . Conclusions:Health education based on the empowerment theory is beneficial to improve postoperative rehabilitation exercise compliance and quality of life of patients with cervical spine surgery.
