Abstract:
Objective:To explore the reliability and validity of the Chinese version of the Barkin Index of Maternal Functioning (BIMF) in Chinese parturients. Methods:The Chinese version of the BIMF was formed through translation, back translation and cultural adjustment. From December 2019 to May 2020, convenience sampling was used to select 189 parturients from a ClassⅢ Grade A hospital in Chongqing to conduct a questionnaire survey to evaluate the reliability and validity of the Chinese version of the scale. Results:The Cronbach's α coefficient, split-half reliability and the test-retest reliability of the Chinese version of the BIMF was 0.834, 0.876 and 0.813 respectively. The content validity index of the scale was 0.864. Exploratory factor analysis extracted a total of 5 factors, and the cumulative variance contribution rate was 60.43%. Confirmatory factor analysis showed that the model fitted well. The final scale included 5 dimensions and 16 items. Conclusions:The Chinese version of the BIMF has good reliability and validity, which can be used as a measurement tool for maternal physical and mental health, and can provide a reference for formulating postpartum nursing and transitional nursing care.
