Abstract:
Objective:To explore the effects of health education with the participation of spouses on medication compliance and self-management efficacy in breast cancer patients with endocrine therapy. Methods:From June 2018 to May 2019, we selected breast cancer patients with modified radical mastectomy in the First Affiliated Hospital of Zhengzhou University as research objects. According to the time of admission, patients were divided into two groups; 40 surgery patients hospitalized from June to November 2018 were in control group, and 36 surgery patients hospitalized from December 2018 to May 2019 were in experimental group. There were four cases lost in control group and two cases withdrew from experimental group for personal reasons. Finally, experimental group included 34 cases and control group included 36 cases. Control group provided routine discharge education at discharge and routine follow-up after discharge. On this basis, experimental group invited the spouses of patients to participate in health education. After 6 months of intervention, we compared the medication compliance and scores of Self-Management Efficacy Scale between two groups. Results:After 6 months of intervention, the medication compliance of control group and experimental group were (93.20±4.46) % and (98.60±3.12) % respectively with a statistical difference ( t=5.838, P<0.001) . After 6 months of intervention, dimension scores of society/family and compliance behavior, and total score of Self-Management Efficacy Scale in experimental group were higher than those in control group with statistical differences ( P<0.01) . After intervention, dimension scores of life/emotion and disease response in experimental group were higher than those in control group with no statistical difference ( P>0.05) . Conclusions:Health education with the participation of spouses can improve patients' social support and emotion, and improve the medication compliance and self-management efficacy of breast cancer patients with endocrine therapy, which has clinical promotion value.
