Abstract:
Objective To compare the postoperative visual acuity and visual quality of patients implanted with TEC-NIS Symfony ZXR00 intraocular lenses(IOLs)with different reserved diopters. Methods In this retrospective study,72 cataract patients(72 eyes)who underwent surgery at the Cataract Department,Ophthalmology Center,The Second Nor-man Bethune Hospital of Jilin University from March 2022 to February 2023 were included. The cohort consisted of 37 males and 35 females.Patients were divided into two groups:Group A(reserved diopters of 0 D to-0.30 D,38 eyes)and Group B(reserved diopters of-0.50 D to-0.75 D,34 eyes). The uncorrected distance visual acuity, best corrected distance visual acuity, uncorrected intermediate visual acuity, uncorrected near visual acuity(UNVA),defocus curve, modulation transfer function(MTF)value, total higher order aberration(HOA),spherical aberration, coma aberration, trefoil aberra-tion,Visual Function Index-14(VF-14),spectacle independence rate, and adverse optical disturbances were evaluated 3 months postoperatively. Results At 3 months postoperatively, patients in Group A exhibited significantly better uncor-rected distance visual acuity compared to that in Group B(P<0.05).No statistically significant differences were observed in best corrected distance visual acuity or uncorrected intermediate visual acuity between the two groups(both P>0.05).Group B demonstrated significantly better UNVA than Group A(P<0.05).Significant differences in visual acuity were ob-served at diopters of 0 D and-2.0 D in both groups(all P<0.05).However,no significant differences in visual acuity were found in the remained ranges of diopters(all P>0.05).At 3 months after the surgery,no significant differences were found in MTF value,HOA,spherical aberration, coma aberration, trefoil aberration,or incidence of adverse optical dis-turbances between the two groups(all P>0.05).Additionally,at 3 months postoperatively,Group B had higher VF-14 scores and a greater near spectacle independence rate than Group A,but a lower distance spectacle independence rate than Group A(all P<0.05).Conclusion Patients with a few reserved diopters exhibit better UNVA and higher satisfaction levels.
