Abstract:
In February 2024,the American Academy of Ophthalmology released the 2023 version of the Dry Eye(DE)Syndrome Preferred Practice Pattern guidelines,which mainly added recommendations for the use of three DE treatment drugs(perfluorohexyloctane,varenicline,and blood products)newly approved by the US Food and Drug Administration and clinical evidence for intervals of using other drugs.The guidelines also described in detail the interaction between DE and corneal refractive surgery and cataract surgery,the definition,diagnosis and detection methods,classification and grading,and treatment of DE.This article aims to interpretate the guidelines comprehensively.
