Abstract:
Objective To investigate the relationship between the diameter of esophageal foreign bodies and the occurrence of complications during endoscopic foreign body retrieval. Methods A retrospective analysis was performed for the case data of patients who received endoscopic treatment at Beijing Tongren Hospital Capital Medical University due to esophageal foreign body from August 2018 to April 2021.Results A total of 425 patients were enrolled, including 93 in the uncomplicated group and 332 in the complications group. The Univariate analysis showed that the long diameter of the foreign body, the jujube seed, there is angulation between the long axis of the foreign body and the long axis of the esophagus, the use of foreign body forceps were the risk factors for complications, and the foreign body blocking in the middle of the esophagus was a protective factor compared with the upper esophagus.Multivariate analysis showed a positive correlation between the diameter of foreign body and the occurrence of complications(OR:3.41,95%CI:2.28-5.11;P<0.001).Conclusion There is a positive correlation between the diameter of esophageal foreign body and the occurrence of complications.
