Abstract:
Objective To investigate the effects of group psychotherapy on perceived stigma and quality of life and to provide reference for targeted psychological interventions in patients with lung cancer. Methods Totally 90 patients with lung cancer who attended subsequent visits in a Class Ⅲ Grade A hospital from January to December 2017 were selected by convenient sampling and divided into control group (n=45) and observation group (n=45) according to the random number table. The control group received conventional follow-up visits, while the observation group received group psychotherapy on this basis. The perceived stigma and quality of life score before and after intervention were compared between the two groups. Results The perceived stigma score was (58.33±8.96) in the observation group, which was better than that post intervention (t=6.043, P<0.01). The perceived stigma score post intervention was better in the observation group than in the control group (t=2.145,P=0.035). The observation group showed higher scores in role function, emotional function, social function and overall quality of life while lower scores in fatigue and sleep disorder than the control group (t=-2.304, -2.444, -2.434, 2.426, -2.827, 2.032;P<0.05).Conclusions Group psychotherapy can mitigate the perceived stigma and improve their quality of life in patients with lung cancer, thereby contributing to the recovery of their physical and psychological rehabilitation. Therefore, it is worth promoting in clinical work.
