Abstract:
Objective To investigate the current status of stigma among bladder cancer patients with stoma and analyze its influencing factors.Methods From 1st January 2015 to 30th June 2016, we selected 120 bladder cancer patients with permanent stoma reviewed in outpatient department of Harbin Medical University Tumor Hospital as subjects by convenience sampling. All of the patients were investigated with the general situation questionnaire, the State Self-esteem Scale (SSES) and Social Impact Scale (SIS).Results The score of SIS of bladder cancer patients with stoma was (64.23±9.54). Multiple linear regression analysis showed that the influencing factors of stigma among bladder cancer patients with permanent stoma included ages, acceptance of family members to stoma, whether to participate in stoma-related activities, the level of self-esteem (P<0.05).Conclusions The stigma of bladder cancer patients with stoma is in a middle level. Health care providers should carry out targeted psychological counseling to reduce their stigma.
