Abstract:
Postoperative neurocognitive disorders(NCD)refer to degenerative diseases of the nerv-ous system in which patients have reduced cognition,memory,orientation,and other abilities after surgery.With the development of social aging,most of the elderly often experience orthopedic surgery due to factors such as aging and inconvenience,which are highly stimulating and time-prolonging,and the incidence of postoperative NCD is high.Diabetes mellitus is a common chronic disease in older age groups,and most of them cause central nervous system damage such as cognitive decline.Therefore,elderly diabetic patients are often more likely to have neurological complications such as postoperative delirium or postoperative cognitive dysfunction due to abnormal glucose metabolism,surgical stimulation and the influence of anesthetic drugs after surgery,because degeneration is a chronic pathological process,which will lead to adverse conse-quences such as poor prognosis,increased medical costs,and decreased quality of life.This article mainly discusses the relationship between abnormal glucose metabolism and the occurrence and development of NCD in diabetic patients,and then explores the role and influence of abnormal glucose metabolism in the occur-rence of NCD after orthopedic surgery.
