Abstract:
The classifications and treatments of tear trough deformity are plenty. Such diverse systems are difficult for patients and plastic surgeons to apprehend. Identificatioins of tear trough are important for accurate diagnosis and direct selection of treatment.The classification of deformity is mostly based on appearance, but barely etiology. It is our belief that the tear trough should be divided into congenital, acquired and aging. The congenital type can be further divided into non age-related type in adolescence and age-related type occurring after 30 years old. And we proposed the treatment strategies based on the classification at the same time. The patients with acquired and severe congenital tear trough should consider surgery. For the rest patients, especially young patients, minimally invasive treatment such as hyaluronic acid and autologous fat filling should be the first choice. With the increase of young people seeking facila rejuvenation, minimally invasive treatment should be addressed, and its complications need to be further investigated and apprehended.
