Abstract:
Lyssavirus is widespread across the globe and diverse. As one of them, the rabies virus infection has an extremely high fatality rate and poses the most serious threat. In recent years, China has made remarkable progress in improving rabies prevention and control, resulting in impressive achievements. However, due to the vast size, large population, and high population density of the country, there are still some challenges that need to be addressed. To develop effective preventive and control measures, it is crucial to advance research on rabies in China in order to comprehend the disease′s molecular epidemiological traits. For this work, we conducted a comprehensive review of the most recent taxonomic studies on Lyssavirus at both global and national levels, and discusses the group types, transmission hosts, and prevalence of rabies virus among dogs and wildlife in China.
