Abstract:
As the primary pathogen of viral acute gastroenteritis, norovirus (NoV) is widely spread worldwide, resulting in serious public health problems and a heavy disease burden. The development of NoV vaccines is slow due to the rapid variation of NoV, multiple types, poor cross-protection, short duration of immune protection, lacking of effective cell culture systems and experimental animal models, and insufficient understanding of the pathogenic mechanism of infection and immune protection markers. In this review, the current research progress on NoV vaccines was reviewed, with emphasis on the research status of NoV vaccines based on P particles, virus-like particles (VLPs) and recombinant adenovirus vectors, in order to provide reference for the development of NoV vaccines in China.
