AIM:To assess the evolving burden of cataracts in China from 1990 to 2019.METHODS: Data on disease burden related to cataracts in China were retrieved from the Global Burden of Disease(GBD)2019 study based on large public databases. Utilizing data from the GBD 2019 study, we extracted information on cataract-related disease burden in China from extensive public databases. Analysis of prevalence and disability-adjusted life years(DALYs)associated with cataracts in China was conducted based on GBD 2019 findings. The variable characteristics of age-standardized prevalence rates(ASPR)and age-standardized DALYs rates(ASDR)in China and its neighboring countries were also explored.RESULTS: Between 1990 and 2019, the number of prevalent cases of blindness and vision loss caused by cataracts in China increased by 223.54%, and the corresponding DALYs raised by 142.14%. Over the past 30 years, females exhibited higher age-standardized prevalence and DALYs rates compared to males. Meanwhile, individuals aged 65 to 84 years were found to be more susceptible to cataracts than other age groups. Compared with neighboring countries, China ranked from the 9th position in 1990(867.09, 95%UI: 761.36 to 975.42, per 100 000 population)to the 11th in 2019(991.56, 95%UI: 861.52 to 1131.04, per 100 000 population)in ASPR, while from the 9th in 1990(65.85, 95%UI: 46.39 to 89.41, per 100 000 population)to the 10th position in 2019(59.16, 95%UI: 41.70 to 80.15, per 100 000 population)in ASDR. However, on a global scale, China maintained relatively low ASDR and ASPR for cataracts in 2019.CONCLUSION: The study highlights a substantial rise in the prevalence and DALYs associated with blindness and vision loss due to cataracts from 1990 to 2019 in China, and underscores the urgent need for increased early screening of cataracts, particularly among the elderly and females.

Objective To evaluate the accuracy and reliability of tear film rupture time(TBUT)measurement in the diagnosis of dry eye in adolescents.Methods A total of 185 adolescents with dry eye treated in our hospital from September 2021 to September 2023 were selected as the observation group,and 20 healthy adolescents were selected as the control group.The accuracy and reliability evaluation of TBUT measurement in the diagnosis of dry eye in adolescents were analyzed.Results Among 185 patients,invasive TBUT detection detected 132 cases,the total detection rate was 71.35% ,non-invasive TBUT detection detected 160 cases,the total detection rate was 84.49% ,there was a statistical difference between groups(P＜0.05).Among the 185 patients,there were 128 cases of non-meibomian gland dysfunction and 57 cases of meibomian gland dysfunction.The detection rate of non-meibomian gland dysfunction by invasive TBUT detection was 41.62% ,and the detection rate of meibomian gland dysfunction was 29.73% ,and the detection rate of non-invasive TBUT detection was 63.24% ,and the detection rate of meibomian gland dysfunction was 23.24% .There was statistical difference between groups(P＜0.05).Compared with control group,TBUT,initial TBUT and average TBUT in observation group were significantly decreased(P＜0.05).Compared with group A,TBUT,first time TBUT and average TBUT in group B were significantly decreased,with statistical difference between groups(P＜0.05).The sensitivity,specificity and AUC of invasive TBUT detection were 72.49% ,75.88% and 0.762,and the sensitivity,specificity and area under the curve(AUC)of non-invasive TBUT detection were 87.24% ,90.05% and 0.926.Conclusion TBUT has diagnostic value in the diagnosis of juvenile dry eye,and compared with invasive TBUT,non-invasive TBUT is more accurate and reliable.

Objective To investigate the potential factors influencing the occurrence of major adverse cardiovascular events (MACE) in patients with acute myocardial infarction (AMI) after percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) and develop an efficient and accurate predictive model. Methods Clinical data of AMI patients treated in the emergency department of Jining Medical University Affiliated Hospital between January and December 2020 were retrospectively collected. Patients were divided into two groups based on the occurrence of in-hospital MACE,the MACE group and the non-MACE group. Clinical indicators of the two groups were compared,and statistically significant variables were selected for inclusion in a multivariate logistic regression analysis. Based on this analysis,a nomogram model was constructed to predict the risk of in-hospital MACE in AMI patients after PCI. The model's predictive accuracy was evaluated using the receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve,and the goodness of fit was assessed using the Hosmer-Lemeshow test. Results A total of 583 patients were included after screening based on inclusion and exclusion criteria,of whom 85 (14.58％) experienced in-hospital MACE. Univariate analysis showed that compared to the non-MACE group,the MACE group had higher values for age,Killip classification,myoglobin (MYO),brain natriuretic peptide (BNP),white blood cell count (WBC),prothrombin time (PT),T-wave changes on electrocardiogram (ECG),abnormal wall motion on echocardiography,ischemia duration greater than 6 hours,the number of MACE before PCI,and left anterior descending artery stenosis. In contrast,the number of patients with a history of oral antiplatelet medication use,coronary artery disease (CAD),family history of CAD,admission systolic blood pressure,and left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) were lower in the MACE group. Multivariate analysis indicated that Killip classification,BNP,ischemia duration greater than 6 hours,and MACE before PCI were independent risk factors for in-hospital MACE in AMI patients after PCI,while pre-onset use of antiplatelet medications and LVEF were independent protective factors. The nomogram model constructed based on independent risk factors demonstrated good predictive ability,with an area under the ROC curve (AUC) of 0.817,a sensitivity of 81.48％,and a specificity of 67.66％. The Hosmer-Lemeshow test confirmed the model's good fit (x2=1.937,P=0.983). Conclusion The nomogram model developed in this study effectively assesses the risk of in-hospital MACE in AMI patients after PCI,providing a valuable tool for predicting patient outcomes post-PCI.

Objective:To explore the effect of motivational interview combined with feedback teaching on active cycle of breathing technique(ACBT) training in lung cancer patients.Methods:A total of 632 patients with lung cancer undergoing radical resection from September 2017 to March 2019 in Sun Yat-sen University Cancer Center were selected and divided into the experimental group and the control group with 316 cases in each group by operation time. The experimental group received motivational interview combined with feedback teaching education, while the control group received routine education. The patients were followed up for 2 months. The compliance and accuracy of ACBT training, self-care ability, sputum discharge and incidence of pulmonary complications were compared between the two groups.Results:The sputum volume in the control group was (6.25±2.44), (9.28±2.63), (10.33±3.15) g in the control group and (8.74±4.17),(13.87±3.19),(14.18±4.16) g in the experimental group at 1, 2, 3 days after operation, and the differences between the two groups were statistically significant ( t values were -1.149, -2.316, -4.124, P<0.01 or 0.05). There were 56 cases(17.72%) of pulmonary complications in the control group and 33 cases (10.44%) in the experimental group. The difference in the incidence of pulmonary complications between the two groups was statistically significant ( χ2 value was 4.743, P<0.01).Two months after operation, the compliance and accuracy of ACBT training in the experimental group were better than those in the control group ( χ2 values were - 4.57, - 2.15, P<0.01).The improvement in the four dimensions after intervention in the experimental group were better than those in the control group, and the differences were statistically significant ( t values were 8.314-19.719, P<0.01). Conclusions:The motivational interview combined with feedback teaching is an effective method of health education, which is conducive to improving lung cancer patients' compliance and accuracy of postoperative ACBT training, improving patients' self-care ability, promoting the discharge of patients' sputum and reducing the incidence of pulmonary complications to promote the recovery of lung function.

Objective:To construct a esophageal cancer module with Chinese characteristics based on MD Anderson Symptom Inventory (MDASI) public scale, develop the Perioperative Esophageal Cancer Symptoms Assessment Scale combining above two parts.Methods:The original item pool was formulated through literature review, clinical interviews, and reference of existing symptoms assessment tools. After two rounds of expert evaluation and pilot survey, the preliminary Perioperative Esophageal Cancer Symptoms Assessmment Scale was developed combining Chinese MDASI (MDASI-C). A total of 150 perioperative esophageal cancer patients was assessed using the new scale, the included items were analyzed one by one, the reliability, validity and sensitivity of scale were checked.Results:Feasibility: the scale recovery was 100%, the completion rate of scale was 93.75%, the average completion time was 10 min. Reliability: the value of Cronbach α of the esophageal cancer module, MDASI-C, the combined scale were 0.747, 0.894, 0.883, respectively. Validity: the range of content validity index of items was 0.83-1.00, the scale-level content validity index average value was 0.93. Two common factors, which explained for 67.994% of variance, were extracted by exploratory factor analysis, the validity of criterion had statistical significance ( P<0.05). Sensitivity: the scores of the esophageal cancer module were significantly different among perioperative esophageal cancer patients with different Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group performance status ( H value was 9.264, P<0.05). Conclusions:The Perioperative Esophageal Cancer Symptoms Assessment Scale has good feasibility, reliability, validity and sensitivity, it is suitable for symptoms assessment of Chinese perioperative esophageal cancer patients.

The aim of this study was to screen the active regions and transcription factor binding sites in the promoter of the CBD103 gene related to Arctic fox coat color, and to provide a basis for revealing the molecular genetic mechanism of CBD103 gene regulating the coat color formation. The 5'-flanking region fragment 2 123 bp of Arctic fox CBD103 gene was cloned, and 4 truncated promoter reporter vectors of different lengths were constructed. The promoter activity was detected by the dual-luciferase reporter assay system. Point mutations were performed on the 3 predicted specificity protein 1 (Sp1) transcription factor binding sites in the highest promoter active region, and 3 mutant vectors were constructed. The activity was then detected by the dual-luciferase reporter assay system. The results showed that the region 1 656 (-1 604/+51) had the highest activity in the 4 truncated promoters of different lengths, and the promoter activity of the three mutant vectors constructed in this region were significantly lower than that of the wild type (fragment 1 656). The region of -1 604 /+51 was the core promoter region of CBD103 gene in Arctic fox and -1 552/-1 564, -1 439/-1 454 and -329/-339 regions were positive regulatory regions. This study successfully obtained the core promoter region and positive regulation regions of the Arctic fox CBD103 gene, which laid a foundation for further study on the molecular genetic mechanism of this gene regulating Arctic fox coat color.

Objective: To investigate the relationship between the level of amniotic fluid inflammatory factor and the pregnancy outcome in patients with cervical incompetence. Methods: A retrospective case-control study was conducted. Totally 110 cases of pregnant women were diagnosed as cervical incompetence for cervical dilation at the medical examination in Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hospital of Sun Yatsen University, from January 1st, 2015 to December 31th, 2016. A total of 32 patients (29.1%, 32/110) were performed cervical cerclage. According to their neonatal outcomes, they were divided into live infant group (23 cases, 72%) and dead infant group (9 cases, 28%) . The demographic and clinical data of two groups were analyzed and compared. Results: The mean peripheral blood leucocyte counts, the median amniotic tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α) and the median interleukin-8 (IL-8) level of two groups were (10.5±2.8) ×10⁹/L vs (13.6±3.1) ×10⁹/L, 23.80 ng/L (14.9-85.5 ng/L) vs 379.00 ng/L (70.2-418.5 ng/L) , and 3 354 ng/L (1 020-7 500 ng/L) vs 7 500 ng/L (4 210-7 500 ng/L) respectively. The differences were statistically significant (all P<0.05) . The amniotic fluid IL-1β, IL-2 receptor, IL-6, IL-10, C-reactive protein and procalcitonin were not significantly different (all P>0.05) between two groups. Conclusions The peripheral blood leucocyte counts, amniotic fluid TNF-α and IL-8 level are the factors affecting the pregnancy outcome in women with cervical incompetence before cervical cerclage. When IL-8 is higher than 3 580 ng/L and TNF-α is higher than 105 ng/L, the death of perinatal infants could be predicted.
