OBJECTIVE To statistically analyze the data of herpes zoster vaccination in the past four years and sum-marize the current status of herpes zoster vaccination.METHODS The data of herpes zoster vaccination were col-lected from the Fifth Medical Center of PLA General Hospital between 2020 and 2023.The descriptive statistical analysis was performed for the status vaccination regarding to the age group and gender.The influencing factors for the vaccination were analyzed,and the questionnaire survey was conducted for adverse reactions after the vacci-nation.RESULTS A total of 495 people received herpes zoster vaccination in the hospital from 2020 to 2023,inclu-ding 290 female and 205 male,and the overall number of vaccination showed an upward trend.Among the popula-tions who received the vaccination,the proportion of the population aged between 50 and 60 years old was 47.68％,the population aged between 60 and 70 years old 39.19％,the population aged more than 70 years old 13.13％.Totally 353 cases had the previous history of herpes zoster virus infection,accounting for 71.31％.The major adverse reactions for the herpes zoster vaccination included slight swelling,pruritus,fatigue and headache with low-grade fever.The follow-up result showed that 4 of 376 vaccination people reported to be reinfected with herpes zoster virus.CONCLUSIONS The people aged between 50 and 60 years old are the major population for her-pes zoster vaccination,the vaccination rate declines year by year among the population aged more than 60 years old,and the rate of willing to vaccination is low.It is necessary for the epidemic prevention institutions to actively disseminate the knowledge of herpes zoster vaccine and carry out health education,especially the vulnerability to the virus and safety of the vaccine,so as to raise the public's willingness to the vaccination.

OBJECTIVE: This study aims to elucidate the therapeutic potential of osthole for the treatment of atopic dermatitis (AD), focusing on its ability to alleviate chronic pruritus (CP) and the underlying molecular mechanisms. METHODS: In this study, we investigated the anti-inflammatory effects of osthole in both a 2,4-dichloronitrobenzene (DNCB)-induced AD mouse model and tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α) and interferon-γ (IFN-γ) stimulated huma immortalized epidermal (HaCaT) cells. The anti-itch effect of osthole was specifically assessed in the AD mouse model. Using methods such as hematoxylin and eosin (HE) staining, enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA), western blot (WB), quantitative real-time PCR (qRT-PCR), and immunofluorescence staining. RESULTS: Osthole improved skin damage and clinical dermatitis scores, reduced scratching bouts, and decreased epidermal thickness AD-like mice. It also reduced the levels of interleukin (IL)-31 and IL-31 receptor A (IL-31 RA) in both skin tissues and HaCaT cells. Furthermore, Osthole suppressed the protein expression levels of phosphor-p65 (p-p65) and phosphor-inhibitor of nuclear factor kappa-Bα (p-IκBα). Meanwhile, it increased the protein expression levels of peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor α (PPARα) and PPARγ in HaCaT cells. CONCLUSION These findings indicated that osthole effectively inhibited CP in AD by activating PPARα, PPARγ, repressing the NF-κB signaling pathway, as well as the expression of IL-31 and IL-31 RA.

Background In recent years, the rising number of e-cigarette users among adolescents and the surging cases of lung injury related to e-cigarette use have attracted the attention of researchers in various fields. Objective To identify the research hotspots and trends of e-cigarette or vaping product use associated lung injury (EVALI) worldwide from 2013 to 2022 by bibliometric and visual analysis. Methods Web of Science Core Collection was selected to obtain literature related to EVALI from 2013 to 2022 across the world, statistics were calculated by country/region, institution, author, journal, cited literature, keyword, etc. CiteSpace 6.2.R1 was used for visual analysis to draw diagrams of publication trend, author cooperation network, co-citation clustering time distribution, and keyword cluster. Results A total of 888 EVALI-related papers published between 2013 and 2022 were retrieved. The number of publications was gradually increased, with a significant increase in 2020 and a decrease from 2021, but the number of citations was increased year by year. The most active country was the United States (631 articles). European and American countries cooperated closely and the centrality was prominent. Among the publishing institutions, the University of California system topped the list with 103 articles. Rahman I (27 articles) published the most articles and had a high degree of centrality; Goniewicz M L was the most cited author; and the network analysis diagram showed relatively weak collaboration between authors. The American Journal of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine was the journal with the highest number of publications (94 articles). The top 5 cited articles were all cited more than 300 times. The leading high-frequency keywords of EVALI-related studies were nicotine (149 times), exposure (118 times), and oxidative stress (80 times). The cluster of key nodes in the co-citation network and the clustering time distribution diagram indicated youth e-cigarette addiction received widespread attention from society. From the top 25 keywords with the strongest bursts, the focus of research on the pathogenesis of EVALI gradually shifted from the oxidative stress damage associated with e-cigarette vapor to the oxidative effect of flavoring chemicals in the process of lung injury. The current research interests in this field were mainly the mechanisms of various chemicals in e-cigarettes and the heating elements that led to damage to the lungs. Conclusion EVALI is receiving continuous attention from researchers in government, medical institutions, and other organizations. A variety of e-cigarette ingredients such as flavoring chemicals may lead to varying degrees of cytotoxicity, inflammation, and lung damage. However, the pathophysiology of EVALI remains unclear. In the future, more Chinese scholars should be encouraged to participate in this field.

Periodontitis is closely related to systemic health,especially adverse pregnancy.Periodontal pathogens are actively in-volved in the formation and development of intrauterine infections.Studies have shown that infection by periodontal pathogens is an im-portant risk factor for adverse pregnancy.Periodontal pathogens reach the uterus via the hematogenous or retrograde route,and the bacte-ria,their virulence factors,and the immunoinflammatory mediators produced by the pathogens promote each other and together mediate the development of intrauterine infections and ultimately lead to adverse pregnancies.This article reviews the role of periodontitis and perio-dontal pathogens in adverse pregnancies and their mechanisms of infection to provide new possibilities for improving the birth rate.

OBJECTIVE: To explore the genetic etiology of two patients with Perrault syndrome (PRLTS) in a family. METHODS: Whole exome sequencing (WES) was carried out to screen potential variants within genomic DNA extracted from the proband. Suspected variants were validated by clinical data and results of Sanger sequencing. RESULTS: WES has identified two heterozygous variants of TWNK gene, namely c.1172G>A (p.Arg391His) and c.1844G>C (p.Gly615Ala). Sanger sequencing confirmed that the c.1172G>A (p.Arg391His), a known pathogenic variant, was derived from her father, while the c.1844G>C (p.Gly615Ala), a novel variant, was derived from her mother. Her brother, who was similarly affected, has carried the same compound heterozygous variants. CONCLUSION The compound heterozygous variants c.1172G>A (p.Arg391His) and c.1844G>C (p.Gly615Ala) of the TWNK gene probably underlie PRLTS in the sib pair. The above results have facilitated genetic counseling and prenatal diagnosis for the affected family.

The monitoring of chronic diseases , including diabetes , hypertension , coronary heart disease and osteoporosis among residents in the community was conducted by Shanghai Changfeng Community Health Service Center , and the identification of physical constitution according to Traditional Chinese Medicine system was performed simultaneously .The medical checkup report and advices on prevention and treatment was provided to the residents , so that they know better about their health condition and its management .

A total of 167 residents who lived in high cadmium exposure area for more than 15 years, aged above 40 were selected in exposed group. Moreover, A total of 145 residents who had similar living and economic conditions and lived in local for more than 15 years, aged above 40 were selected in control group. We used health questionnaires and medical examinations in order to acquire their health status. Home-harvested rice and vegetables were collected using quartering method for detection of cadmium level. Urine specimens of residents were collected for detection of cadmium level and creatinine as well as renal dysfunction biomarkers, namely, N-acetyl-beta-D-glucosamidase (NAG), β2-microglobulin (β2-MG), and retinol binding protein(RBP), respectively. The analysis of spearman rank correlation and multiple regression were used to investigate the relationships between age, urinary cadmium levels and renal injury biomarkers.

RESULTSThe cadmium levels in rice and vegetables of exposed group were 0.75 and 0.10 mg/kg, both were significantly higher than 0.07 and 0.01 mg/kg in the control group (Z values were -6.32 and -7.84, all P values < 0.001). The urinary cadmium level of exposed group was 8.29 µg/g · cr, which was higher than that of the control group 2.03 µg/g · cr with significant difference (Z value was -11.39, P < 0.001). After stratified the total population by age, the urinary cadmium level in 40-49 years, 50-59 years and ≥ 60 years subgroups were 7.22, 8.71, and 13.10 µg/g · cr, which both were significantly higher than 1.80, 2.04, and 2.05 µg/g · cr in the control group (Z values were -5.22, -7.41, and -7.14, all P values < 0.001). After stratified the total population by gender, the urinary cadmium level of male and female were 5.12 and 12.36 µg/g · cr, which both were significantly higher than 1.79 and 2.16 µg/g · cr in the control group (Z values were -7.68 and -9.03, all P values < 0.001). Comparing the differences of renal dysfunction biomarkers (NAG, β2-MG, RBP) between two groups. The level of urinary β2-MG and RBP of exposed group were 0.21 and 0.04 µg/g · cr, which were higher than 0.05 and 0.00 µg/g · cr of the control group with significant difference (Z value was -7.08 and -9.65, all P values < 0.001). CONCLUSIONResidents, who had cadmium contaminated rice and vegetables for a long time, would take the risk of increasing body burden of cadmium and urinary early biomarkers of renal tubular injury that referred to occurrence of renal dysfunction.
