Objective:To understand the epidemiological characteristics and changing trends of injury-related deaths in local residents in Qingdao from 2014 to 2023, and provide evidence for development of injury prevention and control measures. Methods:The incidence data on fatal injury in residents of Qingdao from 2014 to 2023 were used to describe the epidemiological characteristics of fatal injury by using fatal injury rate, standardized fatal injury rate, proportion, and death order. The average annual percentage change (AAPC) was used to describe the annual change in fatal injury rates, and the trend of fatal injury was analyzed. Results:From 2014 to 2023, a total of 23 533 residents died of injury in Qingdao, with a crude fatal injury rate of 28.74/100 000 and a standardized fatal injury rate of 27.64/100 000. The total fatal injury rate showed a downward trend (AAPC: -5.06%, P<0.05). The top three causes of fatal injury in the residents were road traffic accident (40.85%), suicide (15.80%), and accidental falls (12.92%). In terms of gender specific fatal injury cause, the top one in both men and women was road traffic accident injury. In terms of age specific fatal injury cause, the top one was road traffic accident in the all age groups, except age group 5-14 years with top cause of drowning. From 2014 to 2023, the fatal injury rates of road traffic accident, suicide, and accidental poisoning in the top five fatal injury causes showed a downward trend year by year (AAPC:-7.42%, -6.54%, -13.95%, P<0.05). Conclusions:The fatal injury rate showed a downward trend in the residents in Qingdao from 2014 to 2023. It is necessary to strengthen the prevention and control of road traffic accident injury, suicide, falls in the elderly, and drowning in adolescents.

Objective To observe the effect of motivation of endothelial progenitor cells (EPCs) by granulocyte colony-stimulating factor (G-CSF) on cardiac function in patients with myocardial infarction (MI). Methods Eighty MI patients were sellectedand then were divided into a conventional treatment group (n = 40) and a EPC motivation group (n = 40). EPCs were detected by flow cytometry. Results The rate of EPCs was increased from (0.11 ± 0.04)% in the baseline to (5.32 ± 1.06)% (P < 0.05). Before treatment, 6MWT, LVEF, and LVEDD did not differ significantly between the conventional treatment group and the EPC motivation group (P > 0.05); after treatment, 6MWT, LVEF, and LVEDD were significantly increased in both groups (P < 0.05 and P < 0.01). However, 6MWT, LVEF, and LVEDD were higher in the EPC motivation group than in the conventional treatment group (P <0.05). The clinical effectiveness rate was higher in the EPC motivation group than in the conventional treatment group (90.0% vs. 75.0%, P < 0.05). There was no significant difference between the two groups in adverse reactions (7.5%vs. 10.0%, P > 0.05). Conclusions G-CSF can markedly motivate EPCs, which is beneficial for improvement of cardiac function in MI patients.

Objective To analyze the clinical and dosimetric risk factors for acute radiation esophagitis (ARE) in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) patients treated with three-dimensional conformal radiotherapy (3D-CRT),and to find significant risk factors for clinical therapy. Methods A total of 102 NSCLC patients treated with 3D-CRT were retrospectively analyzed.ARE was scored according to the Radiation Therapy Oncology Group (RTOG) criteria with grade 2 or worse.Patients were divided into non-concurrent chemoradiotherapy group and concurrent chemoradiotherapy group. The clinical and dosimetric factors associated with grade 2 or worse ARE were analyzed using univariate logistic regression, multivariate logistic analysis and receiver operating characteristic ( ROC ) curve. Results There were no grade 4 or5 ARE observed in the 102 patients.Nineteen developed grade 2,15 developed grade 3.In nonconcurrent chemoradiotherapy group, multivariate analysis showed that V55 was the only risk factor of grade 2/3 ARE.For ROC curve analysis, the cut-off point of V55 was 16.0 while the area under ROC curve was 0.870 ( 95 % CI:0.782 - 0.957,P < 0.05 ).In concurrent chemoradiotherapy group, multivariate analysis showed that V35 and chemotherapy regimens during radiotherapy were risk factors of grade 2/3 ARE.The cut-off point of V35 was 23.75 while the area under ROC curve was 0.782 (95% CI:0.636 -0.927,P <0.05).Vinorelbine and cisplatin regimen showed low incidence of ARE contrast with gemcitabine/docetaxel and cisplatin regimens (33.3% and 66.7% ).Conclusions V55 is the only statistically significant risk factor associated with grade 2 or worse ARE for patients who don't accepted concurrent chemotherapy.V35 and chemotherapy regimens during radiotherapy are statistically significant risk factors associated with grade 2 or worse ARE for patients who accept concurrent chemotherapy.Vinorelbine and cisplatin regimen during radiotherapy shows low incidence of ARE.

Objective To analyze the clinical and dosimetric risk factors for computed tomography (CT) grade of radiation-induced lung injury in lung cancer treated with three-dimensional conformal radiotherapy (3DCRT).Methods Eighty-nine lung cancer patients treated with 3DCRT were enrolled and CT scan images in more than 6 months were retrospectively analyzed.Clinical and dosimetric parameters were reviewed.Radiation-induced lung injuries were classified into 5 grades on CT images.Grade 3 or worse were considered clinically significant.Statistical software SPSS IS.0 was used to analyze the clinical and dosimetric risk factors that influenced the CT grade of radiation-induced lung injury. Results Eight of 89 patients (9.0%) developed grade 0 of radiation-induced lung injury,13 developed grade 1 (14.6%) ,24 developed grade 2 (27.0%) ,23 developed grade 3 (25.8%) and 21 developed grade 4 (23.6%).Univariable analysis showed that concurrent chemotherapy (CCT),GTV margin, involved ipsilateral lung mean lung dose(IMLD) ,the percent of involved ipsilateral lung receiving over IS,20,25 ,30,35 ,40 and 45 Gy (V_(15),V_(20) ,V_(25),V_(30) ,V_(35),V_(40) ,V_(45) were significantly associated with over grade 3 of radiation-induced lung injury .On multivariate logistic regression analysis,CCT,GTV margin and V_(20) of ipsilateral lung emerged as statistically significant risk factors of over grade 3 radiation-induced lung injuries CT images. Conclusions CCT,GTV margin and V_(20) of ipsilateral lung might be clinical and dosimetric risk factors associated with the severe CT grade of radiation-induced lung injury for lung cancer treated with 3DCRT.

Objective To observe the epidemiology characterization of Borna disease virus (BDV) in animal brain in Ili, Xinjiang, and to find out the potential infection of the Borna disease virus to prevent its outbreak. Methods The BDV p24 gene of animal brain tissues in Ili including 200 horses, 75 donkeys and 100 shepherd dogs was detected by fluorescence quantitative nest reverse transcriptase polymer-ase chain reaction(FQ-nRT-PCR). GFP-p24,pMD-19 plasmid contamination was excluded from positive products. Clone sequencing was used to analyze the homology of gene and amino acid sequence. Results BDV p24 gent was found in 3 Ili horses, 4 Ili donkeys and 9 shepherd dogs, and the positive ratio is 1.5%, 5.3% and 9.0%, respectively. The GFP-p24,pMD-19 were not found in BDV p40 gene and plasmid stand-ard. The sequence of BDV p24 amplification production was totally the same as He/80 virus strain. Conclu-sion Natural infection of BDV may exist in the animals(horses, donkeys and dogs)in Ili, and the epidem-ic strain of BDV in this area was homological as He/80 virus strain.
