Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine 2025;66(7):657-662
The evolving health demands of contemporary society urgently call for adaptive adjustments in health policies and a comprehensive enhancement of perspectives, horizons, and viewpoints. Grounded in the solid foundation of traditional Chinese culture, this paper proposed a multidimensional evaluation system for assessing the health status of modern China's ideal life. Drawing upon the philosophical insights of Confucianism, Daoism, Mohism, Song-Ming Neo-Confucianism, and their subsequent developments, as well as core cultural values such as harmony (和), happiness (福), and joy (乐), this system established a fundamental framework for evaluating health in modern ideal life. The framework consists of eight indices, i.e. harmony index, diligence index, peace of mind index, happiness index, compassion index, innovation index, fulfillment index, and adaptability index. The purpose of constructing this system is to comprehensively and deeply reflect the physical and mental characteristics and behavioral patterns of the Chinese population, and to provide a holistic evaluation framework for advancing the foundation of health in modern ideal life, offering solid scientific support for formulating health policies that align with China's national context.

Silent mutations within the RAS gene have garnered increasing attention for their potential roles in tumorigenesis and therapeutic strategies. Kirsten-RAS ( KRAS ) mutations, predominantly oncogenic, are pivotal drivers in various cancers. While extensive research has elucidated the molecular mechanisms and biological consequences of active KRAS mutations, the functional significance of silent mutations remains relatively understudied. This review synthesizes current knowledge on KRAS silent mutations, highlighting their impact on cancer development. Silent mutations, which do not alter protein sequences but can affect RNA stability and translational efficiency, pose intriguing questions regarding their contribution to tumor biology. Understanding these mutations is crucial for comprehensively unraveling KRAS -driven oncogenesis and exploring novel therapeutic avenues. Moreover, investigations into the clinical implications of silent mutations in KRAS -mutant tumors suggest potential diagnostic and therapeutic strategies. Despite being in early stages, research on KRAS silent mutations holds promise for uncovering novel insights that could inform personalized cancer treatments. In conclusion, this review underscores the evolving landscape of KRAS silent mutations, advocating for further exploration to bridge fundamental biology with clinical applications in oncology.

Medical institutions, with their clinical practice foundation and abundant human use experience data, have become important carriers for the inheritance and innovation of traditional Chinese medicine(TCM) and the "cradles" of the preparation of new TCM. To effectively promote the transformation of new TCM originating from the TCM clinical practice in medical institutions and establish an effective evaluation index system for the transformation of new TCM conforming to the characteristics of TCM, consensus experts adopted the literature research, questionnaire survey, Delphi method, etc. By focusing on the policy and technical evaluation of new TCM originating from the TCM clinical practice in medical institutions, a comprehensive evaluation from the dimensions of drug safety, efficacy, feasibility, and characteristic advantages was conducted, thus forming a comprehensive evaluation system with four primary indicators and 37 secondary indicators. The expert consensus reached aims to encourage medical institutions at all levels to continuously improve the high-quality research and development and transformation of new TCM originating from the TCM clinical practice in medical institutions and targeted at clinical needs, so as to provide a decision-making basis for the preparation, selection, cultivation, and transformation of new TCM for medical institutions, improve the development efficiency of new TCM, and precisely respond to the public medication needs.

Objective To explore the optimal image-guided verification mode by using combined cone-beam CT(CBCT)and ExacTrac X-ray(ETX)image-guided system for the position verification during the first and remaining fractionated radiotherapy of high-grade glioma patients. Methods Twenty high-grade glioma patients undergoing intensity-modulated radiotherapy at some hospital from January 2018 to June 2020 were analyzed retrospectively.CBCT image-guided system was used for the patients treated for the first time to determine the corresponding position of the treatment center on the body surface and to reset and mark the treatment center, then on-line auto registration of the CBCT images with CT positioning images was carried out,and the residual setup errors were verified with ETX image-guided system;position verification of the setup errors was performed with ETX image-guided sysem during the remaining fractionated treatment. The setup errors and their interval distributionswere calculated for the patients in six directions including left-right direction(Lat),head-foot direction(Lng),anterior-posterior direction(Vrt),rotation around left-right(Pitch),rotation around head-foot(Roll)and rotation around anterior-posterior(Yaw).SPSS 22.0 statistical software was used for data analysis. Results There were 75%patients treated for the first time and 78.62%ones undergoing the remaining fractionated radiotherapy only needed one time of setup error corre-ction.Combined CBCT and ETX image-guided resetting during the first radiotherapy met clinical requirements;during the remaining fractionated radiotherapy there were significant differences between the setup errors in the six directions before and after calibration(P<0.05).The interval distribution of setup errors showed the error values in the six directions were all restricted within 0 to 1 mm and within 0° to l °during the first and remaining fractionated radiotherapy. Conclusion Involve-ment of combined CBCT and ETX image-guided system in the first and remaining fractionated radiotherapy of high-grade glioma patients after operation contributes to determining and resetting the treatment center rapidly and accurately, decreasing setup errors and enhancing the accuracy and repeatability of radiotherapy.[Chinese Medical Equipment Journal,2024,45(8):57-62].

Objective To investigate the role of calprotectin S100 A8/A9 complex in evaluating the condition of children with severe Mycoplasma pneumoniae pneumonia(SMPP).Methods A prospective study was conducted among 136 children with Mycoplasma pneumoniae pneumonia(MPP)and 30 healthy controls.According to the severity of the condition, the children with MPP were divided into mild subgroup(40 children)and SMPP subgroup(96 children). The levels of S100 A8/A9 complex and related inflammatory factors were compared between the MPP group and the healthy control group,as well as between the two subgroups of MPP.The role of S100 A8/A9 in assessing the severity of MPP was explored. Results The MPP group had a significantly higher level of S100 A8/A9 than the healthy control group, with a significantly greater increase in the SMPP subgroup(P<0.05).The multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that the increases in serum C reactive protein(CRP)and S100A8/A9 were closely associated with SMPP(P<0.05).The receiver operating characteristic(ROC)curve analysis showed that the combined measurement of serum S100 A8/A9 and CRP had an area under the ROC curve of 0.904 in predicting SMPP,which was significantly higher than the AUC of S100 A8/A9 or CRP alone(P<0.05),with a specificity of 0.718 and a sensitivity of 0.952.Conclusions S100 A8/A9 is closely associated with the severity of MPP,and the combination of S100 A8/A9 with CRP is more advantageous for assessing the severity of MPP in children.

As a new transdermal drug delivery system, microneedles can significantly improve skin permeability, enhance drug transdermal delivery, and demonstrate unique advantages in breaking stratum corneum barrier of skin. This feature enables microneedles to demonstrate enormous potential in delivering biotechnology drugs. The traditional delivery method for biotechnology drugs is mainly injection, which brings problems such as pain and skin redness to patients, leading to poor patient compliance. In addition, the production, transportation, and storage of biotechnology drugs require strict low-temperature conditions to maintain their activity and increase cost output. Microneedles, by contrast, have many benefits, providing new avenues and solutions for biomolecular delivery. Accordingly, this review introduced the microneedle drug delivery system for delivery biotechnology drugs, and summarized the research progress of microneedle systems in biotechnology drugs.
