Fruquintinib is an effective, highly selective and oral VEGFR 1, 2 and 3 tyrosine kinase inhibitor. It was discovered and developed by Hutchison MediPharma for the treatment of solid tumors. In September 2018, fruquintinib received its first global approval in China for use in the treatment of metastatic colorectal cancer (CRC) patients who have failed at least two prior systemic anti-neoplastic therapies. Clinical studies have shown that it has the advantages of low off-target toxicity, good drug resistance and strong curative effect. This article reviews the molecular structure, mechanism of action, pharmacokinetics, clinical efficacy and safety of fruquintinib, as well as its potential clinical applications in other tumor types.

Methods A total of 697 students from grades 3 to 6 in the fall semester of 2014 from 14 rural townships in one district of Chongqing was selected by using the random cluster sampling method. Blood were sampled to analyze the lead level. Neurobehavioral tests were performed to determine their personal cognitive and memory ability. Questionnaires and physical examinations were administered to obtain the information of confounding factors. All students were divided into Q1-Q4 groups according to the quartile of their blood lead level. The relationship between the blood lead level and behavior was analyzed by multivariate logistic regression model and restricted spline regression model. Results The mean age of 697 students was (10.07±1.36) years old, and the median (interquartile range) of their blood lead level was 44.31 (35.42) μg/L. Multivariate logistic regression model showed that after adjusting for age, gender, body mass index and maternal culture level, compared with Q1 group, the OR (95%CI ) values of high digit symbol substitution test (DSST) scores and high overall memory quotient (MQ) scores in Q 3 group were 1.65 (1.01-2.70) and 2.10 (1.21-3.62), and the OR (95%CI ) value of high long term memory (LTM) scores in Q4 group was 0.53 (0.31-0.92). The results of the restricted spline regression model showed that the dose?response curves between the blood lead level and MQ/LTM test scores were both parabolic (P<0.05). Conclusion The blood lead level of school?age children from rural areas of Chongqing is the same as that from other areas of China, but slightly higher than that from other areas of Chongqing. Children with higher blood lead level have poor long?term memory ability.

Objective To analyze the epidemiological characteristics of malaria in Hechi City,Guangxi Zhuang Autono?mous Region from 2005 to 2015,so as to provide the evidence for formulating and adjusting measures of malaria elimination. Methods The data of malaria cases in 11 counties of Hechi City from 2005 to 2015 were collected and analyzed by using Micro?soft Office Excel 2003 and SPSS 17.0. Results A total of 160 malaria cases were reported in Hechi City from 2005 to 2015, and the annual average malaria incidence was 3.6 per million. There were 10 local recurrence cases(accounting for 6.25%,10/160)and 150 imported cases(accounting for 93.75%,150/160). For the etiology,Plasmodium vivax accounted for 51.87%(83/160)in these cases,P. falciparum accounted for 34.38%(55/160),P. ovale accounted for 1.25%(2/160),P. malariae account?ed for 5.00%(8/160),and the indeterminate accounted for 7.50%(12/160). During the period of 11 years, the malaria inci?dence first dropped and then rose. There were no local cases after 2009. However,an imported falciparum malaria death case was reported in 2010,a severe imported falciparum malaria case was reported in 2013 and another in 2015. A severe case of ma?ternal?neonatal vivax malaria was reported in 2014. These cases were mainly distributed in 10 counties of Hechi City, with more young male adults who engaged in digging mining. More cases concentrated from April to August. Most of the reported malaria cases were imported,60.00%(96/160)of them returned from Africa and Southeast Asia, and 33.75%(54/160)from other do?mestic provinces. The median of the interval from symptom appearance to diagnosis was 5 d,and there was a significant differ?ence among the above years(c2=33.40,P<0.05). Conclusions Malaria is still an important public health problem in Hechi City, and the appropriate control measures and effective tools should be strengthened for malaria elimination. The key to consoli?date the achievements of malaria control is strengthening the malaria monitoring management of the floating population.

Objective To analyze the clinical features of 6 patients with imported schistosomiasis mansoni, including the epidemic history, clinical manifestations, laboratory tests and therapeutic effect,so as to provide references for improving the levels of diagnosis and treatment of physicians. Methods The clinical data of 6 patients with imported schistosomiasis mansoni from January 2009 to July 2016 were collected and analyzed. Results All the 6 imported patients with schistosomiasis mansoni had a clear history of cercarial infested water exposure. The main manifestations were continuous fever and eosinophilia. Three (50%)patients were accompanied with diarrhea. Anti-Schistosoma japonicum IgG antibody were cross positive in 2(33.3%)pa-tients,while live eggs of S. mansoni were explored in intestinal mucosa specimens of all the patients. CD3+CD8+T cell ratio was decreased significantly but B cell ratio was elevated in all the patients, and the main immunoglobulin of the patients was IgG. Hydroperitoneum and splenomegaly signs were discovered by abdominal ultrasonography in 16.6%(1/6)of the patients. Multi-ple liver nodules and wall thickening of rectum and sigmoid colon were revealed by pelvic MR scan in 16.6%(1/6)of the pa-tients. Colitis was found in all the patients, and 66.6%(4/6)of the patients were combined with multiple colonic ulcers by the electronic colonoscopy examination. Chronic inflammation and eosinophil infiltration were found in all the patients by rectum pa-thology. All 6 patients were cured with chemotherapy named praziquantel. Conclusion Comprehensive analysis of clinical data including epidemiological history, specific manifestations, laboratory tests and intestinal mucosa pathology may be benefit of the management of schistosomiasis mansoni.

Objective The use of targeting therapy for the treatment of gastric glandular cancer has been a hot topic in recent years. This study aims to clarify that through what ways the histone deacetylase inhibitor MS-275 completes its selectively killing effect on gastric glandular cancer cell line SGC-7901. Methods SGC-7901 cells and GES-1 cells were respectively cultured for 24h, with(10-100) μmol/L concentrations of MS-275. (1) The survival rate of SGC-7901 cells, GES-1 cells and the normal cells were analyzed by WST-1; (2) The change of the mitochondrial membrane potential in SGC-7901 was estimated by flow cytometry;(3) The expression levels of p21, p27, p57, cyclinB1, cyclinD1 were determined by Western blot and PCR methods. Results (1) MS-275 could decrease the survival rate of SGC-7901 cells, the effect was significantly enhanced with the increasing of the concentration (P<0.05), but MS-275 showed no obvious effect on normal gastric mucosa epithelial cells GES-1; (2) MS-275 treatment could decreased the mitochondrial membrane potential of SGC-7901 cells (P<0.05); (3) MS-275 treatment could increase the relative contents of p21, p27, p57 genes and their protein and, at the same time, decrease the relative contents of CyclinB1 and CyclinD1 (P<0.05). Conclusion MS-275 treatment can selectively kill gastric glandular cancer cells SGC-7901 through several possible ways, such as inducing mitochondrial apoptosis and regulating the expression levels of cell cycle-related genes and proteins.
