1.Analysis of sports supplement usage among grade 9 students and associated factors

Objective:
To investigate the status and associated factors of sports supplement usage among grade 9 students, so as to provide a scientific basis for targeted supervision and health education regarding sports supplement usage among junior high school students.
Methods:
From June to September 2025, a stratified cluster random sampling method was used to select 2 261 grade 9 students from 10 provinces (autonomous regions, municipalities) in China. A questionnaire survey was conducted on their sports supplement usage and related factors. The Chi square test was used to compare the usage rates of sports supplements among different groups of students, and binary Logistic regression analysis was employed to investigate the related factors of sports supplement usage among grade 9 students.
Results:
Totally 59.7% of the grade 9 students used sports supplements. The usage rate (62.5%) was higher among boys than girls (56.3%), higher among students from rural areas and towns/counties (66.5%, 66.2%) than those from urban districts (52.9%), higher among boarding students (65.2%) than non resident students (54.3%), higher among students whose parents occupations were businessmen and workers (fathers: 65.0%, 63.7%; mothers: 63.6%, 61.1%) than those whose parents were farmers and civil servants (fathers: 57.5%, 54.1%; mothers: 58.8%, 55.7%), higher among students with a monthly family income of 5 000- 10 000 yuan (66.3%) than those in other income groups, and higher among students in the high score zone for the entrance physical examination to senior high school (67.7%) than those in the medium and low score zones ( 56.3% , 56.5%) ( χ 2=8.99, 42.21, 27.98, 20.55, 8.20, 22.74, 24.70, respectively, all P <0.05). Binary Logistic regression analysis showed that boys ( OR =1.26), those from rural areas ( OR =1.59), boarding students ( OR =1.36), those with a monthly family income of 5 000- 10 000 yuan ( OR =1.41), and those in the high score zone for entrance physical examination to senior high school ( OR =1.34) were more likely to use sports supplements during the entrance physical examination to senior high school; the probability of sports supplement usage was lower among students whose fathers were civil servants ( OR =0.74) (all P <0.05).
Conclusions
The usage of sports supplements is relatively common among grade 9 students. Intervention measures should be targeted at specific populations to reduce the risk of misuse.
2.Herbal Textual Research on Bambusae Succus in Famous Classical Formulas

This article systematically reviews and examines the historical evolution of Bambusae Succus as a medicinal material, covering aspects such as nomenclature, origin, geographical distribution, harvesting and processing methods, quality assessment, therapeutic effects and indications, by consulting ancient herbal texts, medical compendia, and modern literature. The aim is to provide a reference for the development and utilization of famous classical formulas containing this herb. Research indicated that Bambusae Succus was first documented in the Shennong Bencaojing during the Han dynasty, with Zhuli being the standard name used throughout history, alongside aliases like Zhuzhi, Zhuyou and Huoquan. Historically, the primary source of Bambusae Succus has been Phyllostachys nigra var. henonis(Danzhu), although other species such as Pleioblastus amarus and Bambusa emeiensis have also been used medicinally. Ancient records predominantly noted its origin in Yizhou(present-day Chengdu and surrounding areas in Sichuan) and the Wuling region(between present-day Hunan, Guangdong, Guangxi and Jiangxi provinces), while contemporary sources are mainly from regions south of the Yangtze River and southwestern China. Traditionally, Bambusae Succus was harvested from bamboo that had grown for exactly one year, today, it can be collected year-round without strict age requirements. Ancient preparation methods included direct fire roasting or dry distillation, whereas modern industrial production employs dry distillation, reflux extraction, and percolation. In terms of quality evaluation, ancient texts considered a sweet taste to be superior, while today, clarity and transparency are prioritized. Historically, Bambusae Succus was characterized as sweet and cold nature, targeting the lung and stomach meridians, with uses evolving from clearing heat and resolving phlegm to nourishing Yin, moistening dryness, and relaxing tendons and unblocking meridians. Modern descriptions classify it as sweet, bitter, and cold in nature, affecting the heart, liver, and lung meridians, with functions including clearing heat, resolving phlegm, and facilitating orifices. It is indicated for conditions such as stroke with phlegm confusion, lung heat with phlegm congestion, convulsions, epilepsy, excessive phlegm in febrile diseases, high fever with thirst, irritability during pregnancy, and tetanus, with more clearly defined applications. Based on the results of the research, it is recommended that when developing and utilizing famous classical formulas containing Bambusae Succus, the one-year-old Phyllostachys nigra var. Henonis, which has been highly praised throughout history, should be selected as the source material. Industrial production should adopt the dry distillation method. Furthermore, in-depth research should be conducted on the modern technological characterization of the traditional quality control indicator of sweet taste, and reasonable modern quality control standards should be established.
3.Early warning of influenza epidemic based on CUSUM and EWMA models in Daxing District, Beijing

Objective To explore the effectiveness of the cumulative sum (CUSUM) and the exponentially weighted moving average (EWMA) for early warning of influenza epidemic using two datasets of reported influenza cases and influenza-like illness (ILI) cases. Methods Using the reported cases of influenza and ILI in Daxing District, Beijing, from week 23 of 2018 to week 22 of 2024 as data sets, the CUSUM and EWMA models were established, respectively. The positive rate of influenza etiology was used as the “gold standard”, and the Youden index was used as the evaluation index to compare the early warning effect of the two models under different data sets and different parameters. Results In CUSUM, the optimal Youden indices of the reported influenza cases set and the ILI cases set were 0.751 and 0.635, respectively. In EWMA, the optimal Youden indices of the reported influenza cases set and the ILI cases set were 0.544 and 0.464, respectively. The optimal EWMA and CUSUM models could both issue early warning signals in advance of the “gold standard”. Conclusion In the influenza epidemic early warning in Daxing District, Beijing, the CUSUM model established with the reported cases of influenza can achieve good early warning effects, but the model parameters need to be dynamically adjusted according to the local epidemic characteristics.
4.Development status and prospects of aerosol removal using flame-retardant atomized fixatives for nuclear facility decommissioning

Aerosol removal using flame-retardant atomized fixatives, as a major means of aerosol control, has achieved remarkable results in the field of nuclear facility decommissioning and decontamination. Traditional atomized fixatives for aerosol removal have deficiencies in high-temperature resistance and flame retardancy, rendering them inadequate for operational scenarios involving high temperatures and flammability encountered during nuclear decommissioning. This paper investigates the current development of flame-retardant atomized fixatives for aerosol removal both domestically and internationally and presents a preliminary exploration of this technology. The experiments showed that atomized fixatives modified with flame-retardant properties not only maintained excellent aerosol capture efficiency, but also exhibited significantly improved flame-retardant performance. This confirmed the technical feasibility of the proposed approach. Finally, suggestions and reflections are proposed for the development of this technology and its application in nuclear facility decommissioning.
5.Analysis of the correlation between splenic changes and hepatic encephalopathy after transjugular intrahepatic portosystemic shunt

Objective To explore the correlation between changes in spleen volume and stiffness before and after transjugular intrahepatic portosystemic shunt (TIPS) and the occurrence of hepatic encephalopathy. Methods A retrospective study was conducted on 104 patients who underwent TIPS in the Department of Interventional Therapy, Zhongshan Hospital, Fudan University, from January 1, 2023 to July 30, 2024. Spleen volume and stiffness were measured before and after surgery. Patients were divided into the overt hepatic encephalopathy (OHE) group and the non-OHE group. Univariate and multivariate logistic regression analyses were used to identify factors correlated with OHE after TIPS. The predictive values of the related factors of OHE were evaluated using receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curves. Results OHE occurred in 34 patients (32.69%). Compared with the non-OHE group, the OHE group had a smaller percentage reduction in spleen volume after TIPS (P<0.001), but there was no statistically significant difference in the percentage reduction in spleen stiffness between the two groups. Multivariate logistic regression analysis revealed that the percentage reduction in spleen volume was correlated with postoperative OHE (OR=0.90, P<0.001). ROC analysis showed that the area under the curve (AUC) for spleen volume reduction percentage in predicting postoperative OHE was 0.773, superior to spontaneous portosystemic shunt (SPSS; Z=2.088, P=0.037). Conclusions Reduction in spleen volume after TIPS may be a protective factor against hepatic encephalopathy, while changes in spleen stiffness were not found to be correlated with its occurrence.
6.Endoscopic surgery monitoring technique based on precision monitoring of hemorrhage and irrigation fluid absorption

Excessive hemorrhage and irrigation fluid absorption during endoscopic surgery may cause severe complications, while traditional monitoring methods are inaccurate and invasive. To address such problems, our research team jointly developed with industry partners an endoscopic surgery monitoring system employing multisensor fusion technique. This system achieves dynamic blood loss quantification through photoelectric measurement of hemoglobin concentration in effluent fluid and precisely calculates irrigation absorption using strain-gauge sensors with urine-compensation algorithms based on volume-balance principles, integrated with real-time threshold alerts. Validation confirms measurement errors ≤ ±4% for hemorrhage and ≤±2% irrigation fluid for absorption. Clinical applications in transurethral resection of the prostate (TURP), percutaneous nephrolithotomy (PCNL), and hysteroscopic surgeries demonstrate high accuracy and stability. The system effectively enhances surgical safety by preventing TURP syndrome, urinary tract infections, and major hemorrhage, showing significant clinical translational value.
7.Epidemiological characteristics of other infectious diarrheal diseases and their pathogens in Yangpu District of Shanghai from 2005 to 2024

ObjectiveTo elucidate the epidemiological characteristics, evolution of the pathogen spectrum, and spatial distribution patterns of other infectious diarrheal diseases (excluding cholera, typhoid fever, paratyphoid fever, and bacillary dysentery) in Yangpu District of Shanghai from 2005 to 2024, thereby providing a scientific basis for the formulation of targeted prevention and control strategies. MethodsInformation on other infectious diarrhea cases with a current address in Yangpu District of Shanghai, and onset dates from January 1, 2005 to December 31, 2024, was extracted from the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention Information System. Data on cases, including gender, age, occupation, and pathogen testing results, were collected. Descriptive epidemiological methods were employed to analyze the temporal, spatial, and demographic distribution of reported incidence rates and the epidemiological characteristics of pathogens for other infectious diarrheal diseases in Yangpu District from 2005 to 2024. Spatial autocorrelation analyses of reported incidence rates for viral and bacterial diarrhea were conducted using Moran’s Index (Moran’s I). Local spatial autocorrelation analyses were performed using local indicators of spatial association (LISA), with a first-order Queen contiguity spatial weight matrix, and significance was tested via 999 random permutations. Time-series and radar chart analyses were used to examine the temporal patterns of other infectious diarrhea cases caused by major pathogens. ResultsFrom 2005 to 2024, a total of 5 211 cases of other infectious diarrhea were reported in Yangpu District. The cases were predominantly males (2 714 cases, accounting for 52.08%) and children under 5 years of age (1 639 cases, accounting for 31.45%). The primary occupational groups were scattered children (1 433 cases, accounting for 27.50%) and retired personnel (1 403 cases, accounting for 26.92%). The annual average reported incidence rate was 20.36/100 000, showing an overall fluctuating trend with peaks around 2009 and 2024. Peak incidence occurred in summer and autumn (July‒September), with the highest reported incidence rate observed in summer (June‒August) (7.31/100 000). Children under 5 years of age (116.00/100 000) and adults aged 60 and older (21.39/100 000) were the top two age groups in terms of reported incidence. Global spatial autocorrelation analyses showed that the reported incidence rates of viral diarrhea across the sub-districts in Yangpu District in 2020 exhibited a significant positive spatial correlation (Moran’s I =0.30, P=0.016). The spatial autocorrelation of reported incidence rates of viral diarrhea in each sub-district for the periods 2008‒2019 and 2021‒2024 was not statistically significant (all P>0.05). Local spatial autocorrelation analyses of viral diarrhea incidence in 2020 revealed that Xinjiangwancheng Sub-district exhibited a low‑low clustering trend (local Moran’s I =0.49, P=0.018), while Dinghai Road Sub-district exhibited a high‑high clustering trend (local Moran’s I =1.33, P=0.024). The global spatial autocorrelation of reported incidence rates of bacterial diarrhea across the sub-districts of Yangpu District from 2005 to 2024 was not statistically significant (all P>0.05). Among the 5 211 cases, 4 049 had definitive pathogen test results. Bacterial diarrhea accounted for a relatively high proportion (55.52%, 2 248/4 049). The pathogens with the highest proportions were rotavirus (32.33%, 1 309/4 049), Vibrio spp. (31.69%, 1 283/4 049), Salmonella spp. (19.63%, 795/4 049), and norovirus (9.16%, 371/4 049). The radar chart showed that diarrhea cases caused by norovirus had no obvious seasonality, rotavirus cases were mainly concentrated in winter, and cases caused by Salmonella spp. and Vibrio spp. were mainly concentrated in summer and autumn. Among cases under 20 years of age, rotavirus accounted for a relatively high proportion, especially in children under 5 years of age. Among cases aged 20 years and older, Vibrio spp. and Salmonella spp. accounted for relatively high proportions. ConclusionFrom 2005 to 2024, other infectious diarrhea in Yangpu District of Shanghai was most prevalent in summer and autumn. Children under 5 years of age and adults aged 60 years and older were high-risk groups. In 2020, Dinghai Road Sub-district was a high-risk area for viral diarrhea. Rotavirus, Vibrio spp., Salmonella spp., and norovirus were the dominant pathogens. Prevention and control efforts for other infectious diarrhea should be strengthened among key populations (e.g., children under 5 years of age and adults aged 60 years and older) and in high-risk areas such as Dinghai Road Sub-district. During summer and autumn, priority should be given to the prevention and control of bacterial diarrhea caused by Salmonella spp. and Vibrio spp., especially among individuals aged 20 years and older (particularly those aged 60 and above). During winter, priority should be given to the prevention and control of diarrhea caused by rotavirus infection among individuals under 20 years of age, particularly children under 5 years of age.
8.Changes in health status and management strategies for workers in a chemical enterprise under low-level multiple occupational exposure

Background Long-term occupational health surveillance facilitates the identification of chronic health risks arising from occupational hazard exposures. However, under low-level exposure conditions in chemical enterprises, traditional workplace-centered risk assessment models are insufficient to fully explain the observed health effects among workers, highlighting the need for individual-focused health management strategies that focus on the worker. Objective To characterize long-term health trends among workers in a chemical enterprise and examine the limitations of workplace hazard monitoring and health surveillance under low-level multiple exposure scenarios, thereby providing a scientific basis for more comprehensive worker health protection measures. Methods We analyzed 972 occupational health examination records collected over a 15-year period (2010–2024) from a chemical enterprise, integrating these with enterprise hazard monitoring reports and workshop air monitoring of volatile organic compounds (VOCs). The annual counts and prevalences of abnormalities in liver function tests, metabolic syndrome-related indicators, and liver imaging were summarized. Temporal trends were evaluated using the Cochran-Armitage trend test. Time-related changes in abnormal health indicators among active workers were evaluated by generalized linear mixed-effects models (GLMMs), adjusting for age and sex. Individual longitudinal profiles were described for nine workers with continuous 15-year records. In addition, paired comparisons of health outcomes were conducted for 81 workers with both pre-employment and periodic examinations. Results Workplace hazard monitoring indicated that airborne concentrations of major occupational contaminants including VOCs, acids and bases, dust, and physical factors were below national occupational exposure limits. However, 62 VOC species—including chlorobenzene, chloromethane, and cyclohexane—were detected in workshop air, suggesting complex mixed organic solvent exposure. From 2010 to 2015, occupational health examination records were primarily based on physicians’ qualitative assessment, yielding generally low abnormality detection rates. During 2016–2024, data collection was complete, and the prevalences of abnormalities in liver function, metabolic syndrome-related indicators, and liver imaging among active workers remained relatively high. Trend analysis indicated that only the abnormality rates of total bilirubin (TBIL) and hypertension showed statistically significant temporal trends; other indicators exhibited no significant linear changes despite high prevalences. After adjusting for age and sex, the GLMMs showed that the abnormality rates of aspartate aminotransferase (AST), gamma-glutamyl transferase (GGT), TBIL, and hypertension decreased over time, whereas those of total cholesterol, triglycerides, and fatty liver increased. In a subgroup of 9 workers with continuous 15-year follow-up data, the cumulative number of abnormal health indicators increased in several individuals after 2016. Among the 81 workers with both pre-employment and periodic records, abnormalities in total cholesterol, triglycerides, body mass index, and fatty liver were significantly more prevalent after employment over time, whereas changes in liver function enzymes were not statistically significant. Conclusion With increasing age, workers exhibit a gradual deterioration in liver function and metabolic-related health indicators, reaching abnormality rates comparable to those reported in the general population. These findings suggest that both workplace-related and non-occupational factors jointly contribute to the observed health changes. Consequently, occupational health management should shift towards an "individual-centered" approach. Enhancing workers' health literacy, strengthening workplace health promotion, and extending occupational health services beyond the workplace are essential to comprehensively protect workers' health.
9.Characteristics of public health emergencies in Jinhua City from 2014 to 2023

Objective:
To investigate the characteristics of public health emergencies in Jinhua City, Zhejiang Province from 2014 to 2023, so as to provide the reference for prevention and control of public health emergencies.
Methods:
Data of public health emergencies and related information in Jinhua City from 2014 to 2023 were collected through Emergency Public Reporting System of Chinese Disease Prevention and Control Information System. Attack rates, and distribution of time, areas and places were descriptively analyzed.
Results:
A total of 276 public health emergencies were reported in Jinhua City from 2014 to 2023. There were 10 324 reported cases and 7 deaths, with an attack rate of 0.32%. There were 53 Ⅳ-level (19.20%) and 223 unclassified public health emergencies (80.80%). Infectious disease emergencies were predominant types, accounting for 97.83% (270 events). The three most common infectious disease emergencies were other infectious diarrhea (42.03%), influenza (21.01%) and COVID-19 (16.30%). The reported public health emergencies peaked in November and December, with 66 and 45 events reported, respectively. The three most counties (cities, districts) included Yiwu City, Wucheng District and Lanxi City, accounting for 24.28% (67 events), 18.48% (51 events) and 11.96% (33 events), respectively. School and preschool institutions were predominant places where public health emergencies occurred (198 events, 71.74%).
Conclusions
The public health emergencies in Jinhua City from 2014 to 2023 were Ⅳ-level and unclassified emergencies, and infectious disease emergencies were predominant. November and December were the peak reporting periods, and schools and preschool institutions were the main places where these events occurred.
10.Recurrent adenoid cystic carcinoma of the left upper palate accompanied by massive maxillary hemorrhage: a case report and literature review

Objective:
To examine the application of multi-disciplinary treatment (MDT) in the diagnosis and management of recurrence and metastasis of adenoid cystic carcinoma (ACC) of the palate, as well as the treatment of concurrent massive palatal bleeding. This article aimed to provide references for the diagnosis and treatment of patients with advanced oral cancer, along with strategies for managing massive hemorrhage.
Methods:
This article reported on the MDT process for a patient diagnosed with ACC of the left upper palate, who experienced skull base recurrence and lung metastasis following surgery and radiotherapy. The case was further complicated by massive palatal hemorrhage. Additionally, the article analyzed patients with ACC recurrence and significant hemorrhage in the context of relevant literature. The patient was a 36-year-old female with ACC located in the left palate, initially diagnosed at clinical stage T3N0M0 in 2013. She underwent an extensive resection of the palatal lesion, followed by radioactive 125I seed implantation, which was guided by a radiotherapy planning system (TPS) and a digital guide. The patient was monitored for four years post-surgery, during which no signs of tumor recurrence were observed. However, at the fifth year of follow-up, the patient developed recurrence with lung metastasis, classified as T4N0M1. Following a multidisciplinary consultation involving the oral and maxillofacial surgery, radiotherapy, medical oncology, and thoracic surgery, the patient underwent a procedure comprising left subtotal maxillary resection, autologous free flap transplantation, and thoracoscopic resection of pulmonary metastases. After surgery, the patient received 60 Gy of radiotherapy and was orally administered Anlotinib hydrochloride capsules to suppress tumor growth. After 31 months of follow-up, the patient reported experiencing slight bleeding in the mouth. A craniomaxillofacial CT scan revealed that the tumor had grown aggressively, resulting in destruction of the skull base. Consequently, the patient was admitted to the hospital. On the second day of admission, she experienced a sudden episode of oral bleeding. Despite the application of pressure, the bleeding continued unabated. An emergency tracheotomy was performed to relieve the obstruction of the patient’s respiratory tract, and a red blood cell suspension was transfused to address the hemorrhagic shock. Following an urgent consultation with the vascular interventional surgery department, super-selective embolization was promptly employed to effectively halt the bleeding and achieve rapid vascular occlusion. An individualized treatment plan was developed under MDT, incorporating postoperative radiotherapy, targeted therapies, and immunotherapy to manage the tumor.
Results:
Through the MDT model, the patient successfully achieved emergency hemostasis, and normal vital signs were restored. With the addition of radiotherapy and immune-targeted drug treatment, tumor progression was effectively controlled, leading to an improved quality of life for the patient, who successfully survived for 129 months with the tumor by July 2024. A review of the relevant literature indicated that MDT offered significant advantages in the management of adenoid cystic carcinoma. In selecting surgical methods, the team administering MDT could comprehensively evaluate factors such as the patient’s age, physical condition, tumor location, size, and extent of invasion to develop a personalized treatment plan. Radical surgical resection was a common treatment option for ACC. Postoperative tissue defects could be restored to their corresponding functions and aesthetic appearance through autologous tissue reconstruction, utilizing techniques such as peroneal myocutaneous flaps or iliac myocutaneous flaps, or by the implantation of artificial materials. In complex cases involving positive margins, recurrence, and metastasis, the MDT model employed interdisciplinary collaboration to devise a comprehensive treatment plan that may have included re-operation, radiotherapy, and chemotherapy, with the aim of minimizing the risk of ACC recurrence and controlling distant metastasis. Massive bleeding resulting from advanced oral cancer presented a complex medical challenge, influenced by various risk factors such as tumor type, metastasis, treatment options, and the patient’s overall condition. Early identification of bleeding risks, along with strategies to mitigate the adverse effects of bleeding on disease progression—through supportive care, medical treatment, surgical intervention, and interventional therapy—could significantly enhance patients’ quality of life.
Conclusion
The MDT model can provide comprehensive, precise, and personalized treatment plans for patients with advanced oral cancer and massive hemorrhage and improve the effectiveness of treatment strategies.
