Objective: To explore the intra class transmission pattern of acute hemorrhagic conjunctivitis (AHC) among students, so as to provide a basis for formulating precise prevention and control strategies. Methods: The data of AHC students in 2023 was obtained from the teacher-student health information module of the "Xiamen i-Education" platform. Taking the onset date from January 1st to December 31st, 2023 as the search criteria, the epidemiological data of confirmed AHC cases among students in the whole city in 2023 was collected. And the Knox test method was employed to quantify cluster risk at the class level. Subgroup comparisons were conducted to examine differences in cluster risk between academic stages and gender combinations. Cross analysis was performed to investigate the interactive effects of two characteristics on cluster risk. Results: In 2023, 708 cases of AHC students were reported in Xiamen, among which 54 class clustered outbreaks were identified. These outbreaks accounted for 40.54% of total cases. Among them, the incidence of class clustered outbreaks with male first onset cases was higher than that with female first onset cases ( χ 2=4.55, P <0.05). The class cluster risk was at a relatively high level within the incubation period (0-2 d) after AHC onset ( RR =4.61-6.43, P <0.05). Subgroup analysis revealed that female-female case pairs had a higher class cluster risk ( RR = 4.81- 10.29) compared to other gender combinations ( P <0.05). Primary school case pairs showed a higher risk ( RR =4.60-6.77) than middle school case pairs ( RR =3.85-4.57) (both P <0.05). Cross analysis indicated that primary school and female-female combinations had a higher risk ( RR =4.70-11.24) than other combinations, while middle school and male-female combinations showed a positive interaction ( RR =3.68-6.68)(both P <0.05). Conclusions AHC infection among students is primarily transmitted within classes. Gender and educational stage are key demographic factors influencing class cluster transmission risks. Transmission risks should be assessed by analyzing population characteristics and contact patterns, and targeted interventions should be implemented.

[Purpose]To analyze the incidence,mortality and survival of cancers in Xiamen City in 2020.[Methods]The data relating to the incidence and mortality of cancers in Xiamen was collected from the Tumor Registration Information Direct Reporting Platform of Fujian Province to calculate the crude rate,age-standardized rate by Chinese standard population(ASRC),cumula-tive rate,truncated rate and their rank.The 5-year survival rate was analyzed by Period Analysis method.[Results]In 2020,the reported incidence rate of cancers in Xiamen residents was 350.46/105.The ASRC,the cumulative rate(0～74 years old),and the truncated rate of incidence(35～64 years old)were 275.12/105,29.70％,477.37/105,respectively.The top five cancers of in-cidence were lung cancer,female breast cancer,thyroid cancer,colorectal cancer and liver cancer.The incidence of cancers in men was higher than that in women(ASRC:280.14/105 vs 271.45/105).The curde mortality rate of cancers was 150.62/105.The ASRC,the cumulative rate(0～74 years old),and the truncated rate(35～64 years old)of mortality were 109.62/105,12.27％,160.38/105,respectively.The top five cancer deaths were lung cancer,liver cancer,colorectal cancer,esoph-agus cancer and stomach cancer.The mortality of caners in men was much higher than that in women(ASRC:155.01/105 vs 69.11/105).The 5-year observed survival rate(OSR),relative sur-vival rate(RSR)and age-standardized relative survival rate(ARSR)were 53.09％(95％C1:51.80％～54.36％),56.30％(95％CI:54.94％～57.65％)and 48.14％(95％CI:46.67％～49.64％),respectively.The 5-year ARSR was lower in men than that in women(40.23％vs 57.75％).[Conclusion]The comprehensive diagnosis and treatment level of cancers in Xiamen is in the middle and above level of the country,but the incidence rate is high.Prevention and control should be strengthened,fo-cusing on the growth trend of thyroid cancer,lung cancer,breast cancer,colorectal cancer and so on.

Background/Aims: Ubiquitination is widely involved in the progression of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) by regulating various cellular processes. However, systematic strategies for screening core ubiquitin-related genes, clarifying their functions and mechanisms, and ultimately developing potential therapeutics for patients with HCC are still lacking. Methods: Cox and LASSO regression analyses were performed to construct a ubiquitin-related gene prediction model for HCC. Loss- and gain-of-function studies, transcriptomic and metabolomics analysis were used to explore the function and mechanism of UBE2S on HCC cell glycolysis and growth. Results: Based on 1,423 ubiquitin-related genes, a four-gene signature was successfully constructed to evaluate the prognosis of patients with HCC. UBE2S was identified in this signature with the potential to predict the survival of patients with HCC. E2F2 transcriptionally upregulated UBE2S expression by directly binding to its promoter. UBE2S positively regulated glycolysis in a HIF-1α-dependent manner, thus promoting the proliferation of HCC cells. Mechanistically, UBE2S enhanced K11-linkage polyubiquitination at lysine residues 171 and 196 of VHL independent of E3 ligase, thereby indirectly stabilizing HIF-1α protein levels by mediating the degradation of VHL by the proteasome. In particular, the combination of cephalomannine, a small molecule compound that inhibits the expression of UBE2S, and PX-478, an inhibitor of HIF-1α, significantly improved the anti-tumor efficacy. Conclusions UBE2S is identified as a key biomarker in HCC among the thousands of ubiquitin-related genes and promotes glycolysis by E3 enzyme-independent ubiquitination, thus serving as a therapeutic target for the treatment of HCC.

Interleukin (IL)-17A, a pro-inflammatory cytokine, is a fundamental function in the onset and advancement of multiple immune diseases. To uncover the primary compounds with IL-17A inhibitory activity, a large-scale screening of the library of traditional Chinese medicine constituents and microbial secondary metabolites was conducted using splenic cells from IL-17A-GFP reporter mice cultured under Th17-priming conditions. Our results indicated that some aureane-type sesquiterpene tetraketides isolated from a wetland mud-derived fungus, Myrothecium gramineum, showed remarkable IL-17A inhibitory activity. Nine new aureane-type sesquiterpene tetraketides, myrogramins A-I ( 1, 4- 11), and two known ones ( 2 and 3) were isolated and identified from the strain. Compounds 1, 3, 4, 10, and 11 exhibited significant IL-17A inhibitory activity. Among them, compound 3, with a high fermentation yield dose-dependently inhibited the generation of IL-17A and suppressed glycolysis in splenic cells under Th17-priming conditions. Strikingly, compound 3 suppressed immunopathology in both IL-17A-mediated animal models of experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis and pulmonary hypertension. Our results revealed that aureane-type sesquiterpene tetraketides are a novel class of immunomodulators with IL-17A inhibitory activity, and hold great promise applications in treating IL-17A-mediated immune diseases.

Objective To investigate the effect of bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells(BMSCs)on the inflamma-tory response of lipopolysaccharide(LPS)induced acute lung injury(ALI)in mice.Methods 32 SPF KM mice,aged 4 weeks were randomly divided into four groups,control group,LPS group,dexamethasone treatment group(LPS+DEX)and BMSCs treatment group(LPS+BMSCs).The latter three groups were injected with LPS by tra-cheal puncture to establish mouse ALI model 24 h after modeling,BMSCs isolated from the femur of mice were in-jected into the caudal vein,and DEX were injected into caudal vein at the same time in LPS+DEX group for 3 consecutive days.On the 4th day after cell transplantation or 24 h after DEX injection,the survival quantity of mice was recorded,lung function was detected,and the wet/dry weight ratio(W/D)of lung was measured.Then in-flammatory cells in bronchoalveolar lavage fluid(BALF),lung pathological changes and serum inflammatory cyto-kines were collected.Green fluorescent protein(GFP)staining was used to observe the homing of BMSCs in lung tissues.The mRNA and protein expression of TLR4,MyD88 and NF-κB in lung tissues were detected by RT-PCR and Western blot assay respectively.Results Compared with the control group,LPS model group showed de-creased lung function,significantly increase in the W/D weight ratio of lung,inflammatory cytokines in serum and inflammatory cells in BALF,and severe damage in lung tissue.Compared with LPS group,LPS+DEX group and LPS+BMSCs group showed improved lung function,reduced lung tissue damage,significantly decrease in the W/D weight ratio of lung,inflammatory cytokines in serum and inflammatory cells in BALF.And the expression of TLR4-MyD88-NF-κB signaling pathway-related genes and proteins decreased,the survival quantity increased.Conclusion Homologous BMSCs transplantation can effectively treat LPS-induced acute lung injury,and the mechanism may be related to the regulation of TLR4-MyD88-NF-κB signaling pathway and the reduction of inflam-matory response.These findings provide the experimental basis for BMSCs homologous transplantation for ALI.

Aortic stenosis (AS) is the most common primary valve lesion requiring surgery or transcatheter intervention in modern era. Its prevalence is rising rapidly as a consequence of the aging population. Transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) as a therapy option for older high-risk symptomatic severe AS patients has emerged and is currently extending its indications towards surgery intermediate- and low-risk subjects. Considering the common characteristics of frailty and high comorbidity among AS patients, cardiac rehabilitation (CR) has been proven to improve not only survival but also quality of life in previous reports. CR as a classⅠ recommendation in guidelines for the prevention and treatment of cardiovascular disease has been widely used in clinical practice. The purpose of this article is to sort out the current CR programs for TAVR patients in global medical management, and explore the CR optimization program fit for China medical model in post COVID-19 pandemic era.

Objective:To investigate the application of a video laryngoscope combined with a fiberoptic bronchoscope in emergency endotracheal intubation and its effects on pulmonary infection in patients with craniocerebral trauma.Methods:A total of 105 patients with craniocerebral trauma who received treatment in Yiwu Central Hospital from January 2020 to December 2020 were included in this study. They were randomly allocated to undergo endotracheal intubation with a video laryngoscope (control group, n = 50) or a video laryngoscope combined with a fiberoptic bronchoscope (observation group, n = 55). Glottic exposure, intubation, vital signs, lung infection rate during hospitalization, and incidence of complications were monitored/determined in each group. Results:Glottic exposure in the observation group was superior to that in the control group ( Z = 4.29, P < 0.001). First-pass success rate was significantly higher in the observation group than in the control group [96.36% (53/55) vs. 82.00% (41/50), χ2 = 5.76, P < 0.05]. The number of intubation attempts and the time to successful intubation were (1.07 ± 0.53) times and (85.12 ± 15.36) seconds, respectively in the observation group, which were significantly less or shorter than those in the control group [(1.92 ± 0.74) times, (106.13 ± 16.34) seconds, t = 6.81, 6.79, both P < 0.001). The changes in mean arterial pressure and heart rate during intubation were less in the observation group than in the control group (both P < 0.05). The amplitude of increase in blood oxygen saturation after intubation was greater in the observation group than in the control group ( P < 0.05). Lung infection rate was significantly lower in the observation group than in the control group [10.91% (6/55) vs. 30.00% (15/50), χ2 = 5.96, P < 0.05]. The incidence of complications was significantly lower in the observation group than in the control group [5.45% (3/55) vs. 18.00% (9/50), χ2 = 4.07, P < 0.05]. Conclusion:Application of a video laryngoscope combined with a fiberoptic bronchoscope in emergency endotracheal intubation can increase the first-pass success rate, reduce repeated intubation attempts, shorten time to successful intubation, help to maintain stable vital signs, prevent lung infection and complication. Therefore, the combined method is of clinical application value.
