Objective To provide a scientific basis for vector prevention and control in port areas, vector monitoring has been conducted continuously to characterize the composition, density, and seasonal fluctuations of vectors across 21 port-areas of Shandong province from 2017 to 2023. Methods In accordance with the Regional Vector Monitoring Plan for Frontier Ports, vector surveillance of mosquitoes, flies, cockroaches, rodents, and other disease vectors was performed. Data were analyzed to describe vector community composition and identify seasonal fluctuations. Results A total of 601 rodents belonging to 1 family, 4 genera, and 4 species were captured. Three dominant rodent species inhabit port areas. In addition, 88 104 mosquitoes were captured and classified into 3 subfamilies, 4 genera, and 12 species; 38 959 flies were trapped and classified into 8 families,31 genera, and 51 species, including 9 dominant fly species in port-areas; and 54 672 captured cockroaches were classified into 2 families,4 genera, and 4 species, with Blattella germanica as the dominant species. Conclusions Significant vector community changes(P<0.005)have been identified after the epidemic. To improve the pertinence and efficacy of port health quarantine work, continuous and strong attention should be paid to vector compositions and population densities at Shandong ports.

OBJECTIVE:
To investigate the clinical effect of minimally invasive technique in the treatment of moderate and severe gluteal muscle contracture.
METHODS:
A retrospective study was conducted on 85 patients (170 sides) with bilateral gluteal muscle contracture admitted from January 2016 to December 2019. All patients were treated with minimally invasive release of tendon knife. There were 32 males and 53 females, ranging in age from 15 to 37 years old, with an average age of (22.3±6.3) years old. Operation time, intraoperative blood loss, incision length, first postoperative ambulation time, complication rate, recurrence rate, and Harris hip score (HHS) were analyzed and evaluated.
RESULTS:
The average follow-up time was (16.2±4.6) months, ranging from 12 to 30 months. The operation time ranged from 7 to 15 min, with an average of (10.2±3.1) min. Intraoperative blood loss ranged from 2 to 20 ml, with an average of (8.4±2.2) ml. The incision length ranged from 0.6 to 2.0 cm, with an average of (0.8±0.3) cm. The time to postoperative ambulation ranged from 12 to 28 h, with an average of (20.0±3.2) h. All patients achieved primary wound healing without sciatic nerve injury or recurrence. HHS hip function scores ranged from 90 to 98, with an average score of (96.2±1.4). Complications included intraoperative tendon blade tip fracture in two cases (removed under fluoroscopic guidance) and subcutaneous hematoma in three cases-two resolved with compression and one with open evacuation.. Twenty-nine patients exhibited transient swaying gait postoperatively, of which 24 patients returned to normal after 4 weeks and 5 patients returned to normal after 6 weeks.
CONCLUSION
Minimally invasive tendon blade release is a safe and effective technique for treating gluteal muscle contracture, offering minimal trauma, rapid recovery, and excellent cosmetic and functional outcomes. However, it exhibits a low risk of blade tip fracture and sciatic nerve injury, warranting experienced surgical handling.

OBJECTIVE:
To investigate the effect of daratumumab, lenalidomide and dexamethasone on quality of life in transplant-ineligible (TIE) patients with newly diagnosed multiple myeloma (NDMM).
METHODS:
The clinical data of 93 TIE NDMM patients in our hospital from January 2020 to December 2022 were retrospectively analyzed. The patients were divided into D-Rd group (48 cases) and Rd group (45 cases) according to treatment regimen. The patients in Rd group were treated with lenalidomide and dexamethasone, while those in D-Rd group were treated with daratumumab on the basis of Rd group. The QLQ-C30 and EQ-5D VAS scores of the two groups were compared at baseline and after 3, 6 and 12 treatment cycles. The last follow-up date was June 30, 2023, and overall survival (OS) was compared between the two groups.
RESULTS:
The median follow-up period in the D-Rd group was 21 (7-38) months, and the median OS was 34 months, while that in the Rd group was 16 (5-35) months, and the median OS was 28 months. There was significant difference in OS between the two groups ( P <0.05). After 3, 6 and 12 treatment cycles, the QLQ-C30 score and EQ-5D VAS score of the two groups were significantly improved (all P <0.05). After 3 and 12 treatment cycles, the QLQ-C30 score and EQ-5D VAS score of D-Rd group were significantly higher than those of Rd group (all P <0.05). There were no significant differences in the improvement of QLQ-C30 GHS and pain scores between the two groups of patients with age <75 years and ECOG 0-1 score after 3, 6 and 12 treatment cycles (P >0.05). In D-Rd group of patients with age≥75 years, the improvement of QLQ-C30 GHS scores after 3 and 12 treatment cycles and QLQ-C30 pain scores after 3, 6 and 12 treatment cycles was significantly superior to that in Rd group (all P <0.05). In D-Rd group of patients with ECOG 2 scores, the improvement of QLQ-C30 GHS and pain scores after 3, 6 and 12 treatment cycles was significantly superior to that in Rd group (all P <0.05).
CONCLUSION
Daratumumab, lenalidomide, and dexamethasone can significantly improve OS in TIE NDMM patients without decrease of quality of life, especially in those with age≥75 years or ECOG 2 scores.

Journal of Experimental Hematology 2025;33(5):1491-1498
OBJECTIVE:
To investigate the regulatory effect of Wip1 phosphatase on hematopoietic function in the mouse spleen.
METHODS:
Wip1 knockout mice were bred, and the effect of Wip1 deletion on the proportion and number of hematopoietic stem/progenitor cells, as well as their mature subsets in mouse spleen was detected by flow cytometry. The Proteome ProfilerTM antibody array was used to analyze the role of Wip1 deletion on the expression of inflammatory cytokines in CD45highCD11b+ myeloid cells sorted from mouse spleen.
RESULTS:
Wip1 deletion resulted in smaller size and significant reduction of cell number in the mouse spleen. The absolute numbers of hematopoietic stem/progenitor cells were decreased. Meanwhile, the absolute number of T and B lymphocytes also significantly declined. However, the proportion of erythroid progenitors and erythroid cells at various stage significantly increased, but the number of mature erythroid cells decreased. Furthermore, the myeloid cells and their subsets neutrophils, monocytes, CD45highCD11b+ and CD45lowCD11b+ were all reduced. CD45highCD11b+ myeloid cells displayed proinflammatory phenotype in the spleen.
CONCLUSION
Wip1 gene deletion impairs normal hematopoietic function in the mouse spleen, leading to a significant reduction of mature hematopoietic cells of various lineages, and proinflammatory phenotype in CD45highCD11b+ myeloid cells.

Objective To investigate the effects of laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy(LSG)on the cardiac structure and function in obese patients with heart failure(HF)and compare the efficacy of LSG across obese patients with different HF types. Methods This study included 33 obese patients with HF who underwent LSG.The clinical indicators were compared between before operation and 12 months after operation.Repeated measures analysis of variance was employed to evaluate the changes in echocardiographic parameters before operation and 3,6,and 12 months after operation.Patients were allocated into a HF with preserved ejection fraction group(n=17),a HF with mildly reduced ejection fraction group(n=5)and a HF with reduced ejection fraction(HFrEF)group(n=11)based on left ventricular ejection fraction(LVEF)before operation for subgroup analyses of the effects of LSG on the cardiac structure and function of obese patients with HF.The paired samples t-test was conducted to assess the degree of cardiac structural and functional alterations after LSG.Results The 33 patients included 69.7% males, with an average age of(35.3±9.9)years,and a body mass index(BMI)of(51.2±9.8)kg/m2.The median follow-up was 9.0(5.0,13.3)months.Compared with the preoperative values, the postoperative BMI(P=0.002),body surface area(BSA)(P=0.009),waist circumference(P=0.010),hip circumference(P=0.031),body fat content(P=0.007),and percentage of patients with cardiac function grades Ⅲ-IV(P<0.001)decreased.At the 12-month follow-up left atrial diameter(P=0.006),right atrial long-axis inner diameter(RAD1)(P<0.001),right atrial short-axis inner diameter(RAD2)(P<0.001),right ventricular inner diameter(P=0.002),interventricular septal thickness at end-diastolic(P=0.002),and left ventricular end-diastolic volumes(P=0.004)and left ventricular end-systolic volumes(P=0.003) all significantly reduced compared with preoperative values.Additionally, left ventricular fractional shortening and LVEF improved(both P<0.001).Subgroup analyses revealed that cardiac structural parameters significantly decreased in the HF with preserved ejection fraction,HF with mildly reduced ejection fraction, and HFrEF subgroups compared with preoperative values.Notably, the HFrEF group demonstrated the best performance in terms of left atrial diameter(P=0.003),left ventricular inner diameter at end-diastole(P=0.008),RAD1(P<0.001),RAD2(P=0.004),right ventricular inner diameter(P=0.019),left ventricular end-diastolic volume(P=0.004)and left ventricular end-systolic volume(P=0.001),cardiac output(P=0.006),tricuspid regurgitation velocity(P=0.002),and pulmonary artery systolic pressure(P=0.001) compared to preoperatively.Postoperative left ventricular fractional shortening(P<0.001,P=0.003,P<0.001)and LVEF(P<0.001,P=0.011,P=0.001)became higher in all the three subgroups than the preoperative values. Conclusions LSG decreased the body weight,BMI,and BSA,improved the cardiac function grade, reversed the enlargement of the left atrium and left ventricle, reduced the right atrium and right ventricle, and enhanced the left ventricular systolic function. It was effective across obese patients with different HF types.Particularly,LSG demonstrates the best performance in improving the structures of both atria and ventricles in obese patients with HFrEF.
