1.Treatment Principles and Paradigm of Diabetic Microvascular Complications Responding Specifically to Traditional Chinese Medicine

To explore the advantages of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) and integrative TCM-Western medicine approaches in the treatment of diabetic microvascular complications (DMC), refine key pathophysiological insights and treatment principles, and promote academic innovation and strategic research planning in the prevention and treatment of DMC. The 38th session of the Expert Salon on Diseases Responding Specifically to Traditional Chinese Medicine, hosted by the China Association of Chinese Medicine, was held in Beijing, 2024. Experts in TCM, Western medicine, and interdisciplinary fields convened to conduct a systematic discussion on the pathogenesis, diagnostic and treatment challenges, and mechanism research related to DMC, ultimately forming a consensus on key directions. Four major research recommendations were proposed. The first is addressing clinical bottlenecks in the prevention and control of DMC by optimizing TCM-based evidence evaluation systems. The second is refining TCM core pathogenesis across DMC stages and establishing corresponding "disease-pattern-time" framework. The third is innovating mechanism research strategies to facilitate a shift from holistic regulation to targeted intervention in TCM. The fourth is advancing interdisciplinary collaboration to enhance the role of TCM in new drug development, research prioritization, and guideline formulation. TCM and integrative approaches offer distinct advantages in managing DMC. With a focus on the diseases responding specifically to TCM, strengthening evidence-based support and mechanism interpretation and promoting the integration of clinical care and research innovation will provide strong momentum for the modernization of TCM and the advancement of national health strategies.
2.Analysis of major food consumption frequencies among children aged 6-17 years in China

Objective:
To analyze the consumption frequency of major foods among Chinese children aged 6-17 years old, and to provide a basis for optimizing the dietary structure of children in China.
Methods:
Using data from the China Nutrition and Health System Survey and Application Program for Children 0-18 years old, 56 734 children aged 6-17 years old from North, Norththeast East, Central, South, Southwest and Northwest seven regions in China were selected for the study using stratified cluster random sampling from 2019 to 2021. A food frequency questionnaire was used to investigate the intake frequency of eight food groups in a month, including fresh vegetables, fresh fruits, livestock and poultry meats, aquatic products, eggs, dairy products, legumes, and cereals and potatoes. The foods were grouped according to whether they met the recommended intake criteria outlined in the Dietary Guidelines for Chinese Residents 2022. The〖KG*2〗χ2 test was used to compare the differences in the proportion of childrens intake frequency of each food group meeting the standard in different regions and age groups.
Results:
The proportions of Chinese children aged 6-17 years who consumed fresh vegetables and cereals and potatoes ≥3 times/d were 12.1% and 67.2%, respectively. The proportions of children who consumed fresh fruits, livestock and poultry meats, eggs and dairy products ≥1 time/d were 50.8%, 58.8%, 36.0% and 54.3%, respectively. The proportion of legumes consumed ≥4 times/week was 37.4%, and the proportion of aquatic products consumed ≥2 times/week was 39.7%. Fresh vegetables (5.5%), fresh fruits (33.1%), and dairy products (36.4%) had the lowest frequency of meeting the recommended standards in South China, and aquatic products (27.4%) and eggs (21.1%) had the lowest frequency of meeting the recommended standards in Northwest (P<0.008 3).
Conclusion
The overall intake frequency of fresh vegetables, fresh fruits, legumes, and dairy products are insufficient among Chinese children, with significant regional variations.
3.Association of dining locations with nutritional status among Chinese children aged 6-17 years

Objective:
To analyze the association of eating dining locations and their association with nutritional status among Chinese children aged 6-17 years,so as to provide reference for guiding children s reasonable diet.
Methods:
Stratified random cluster sampling was used to select children aged 6 to 17 years from 28 cities and rural areas of 14 provinces in East, North, Central, South, Southwest, Northwest, Northeast of China, and a total of 52 535 children were included in the study from 2019 to 2021. Information including dining locations, demographic characteristics, dietary intakes and physical activity were collected through a questionnaire survey. Fasting body height and weight were measured in the morning. Unordered multiclass Logistic regression analysis was conducted to assess the relationship between dining locations and nutritional status in children.
Results:
Regarding children s dining locations, 66.3% ate breakfast at home,25.8% ate breakfast at school,7.9% ate breakfast outside (small dining tables, restaurants, stalls, etc.); 67.7% ate dinner at home,29.0% ate dinner at school,3.3% ate dinner outside; and 63.6% ate lunch at school,30.8% ate lunch at home,5.7% ate lunch outside. The prevalence rates of overweight/obesity and undernutrition were 28.6% and 9.3%, respectively. The adjusted multiclass Logistic regression analysis (controlling for age, region, parental education, household income, total energy intake, and moderate-to-vigorous physical activity) demonstrated that, compared to eating at home, school based breakfast and dinner consumption was associated with significantly lower overweight/obesity risks for both genders (boys: breakfast OR =0.70, 95% CI =0.65-0.75; dinner OR =0.80, 95% CI = 0.74- 0.86; girls: breakfast OR = 0.89 , 95% CI = 0.82-0.96; dinner OR =0.88, 95% CI =0.81-0.95), whereas eating lunch away from home significantly increased overweight/obesity risks (boys: OR =1.32, 95% CI =1.17-1.48; girls: OR =1.43, 95% CI =1.26- 1.62 ), with all associations being statistically significant ( P <0.05). After adjusting for confounding factors, boys who ate breakfast away from home showed a significantly reduced risk of undernutrition ( OR =0.80,95% CI =0.66-0.97), while those consuming lunch away from home had an increased risk ( OR =1.26, 95% CI =1.01-1.57) ( P <0.05).
Conclusions
The choice of dining locations for children is becoming more diverse, and a relatively high proportion of children eat meals outside the home and at school. Eating out have a higher risk of malnutrition for children. School feeding may be beneficial to children s physical health.
4.Effects of various mouse sample storage conditions on median fluores-cence intensity of antibodies and positive cell percentage using flow cy-tometry

AIM:Flow cytometry was used to evaluate the effects of short-term storage conditions(fresh,frozen at-80℃for 7 d,and stored at 4℃for 7 d)on the median fluorescence intensity(MFI)of antibodies and the percentage of immune cell subsets in mouse peripheral blood mononuclear cells(PBMCs)and splenocytes.METHODS:The PBMC and splenocyte suspensions from six male Kunming mice were collected and analyzed under three different processing con-ditions to compare differences in the antibody MFI and percentages of monocyte subsets(Ly-6clow/Ly-6cmedium/Ly-6chigh),macrophages(M1/M2),and dendritic cells.RESULTS:Both tissue and antibody specificity were demonstrated by changes in the antibody MFI values.Following storage at-80℃,the MFIs of certain antibodies(such as CD45 and F4/80 in PBMCs,and CD115,Ly-6c,F4/80,CD80 and MHC-II in the spleen)were similar to those of the fresh groups,where-as after storage at 4℃,the MFIs of other antibodies(such as 7-AAD,CD115,Ly-6c and MHC-II in PBMCs,and CD11b,CD206 and CD11c in the spleen)were closer to those of the fresh groups.The MFI of most of the examined anti-bodies varied significantly following storage.Both storage conditions significantly reduced the viability of PBMCs and sple-nocytes.In PBMCs stored at 4℃,the percentages of total monocytes,Ly-6cmedium/Ly-6chigh monocytes,total macrophages,and dendritic cells were similar to those in the fresh group.Compared with the fresh group,both storage groups presented significantly lower percentages of M1 macrophages and dendritic cells(P<0.05).There were no statistically significant differences in the percentages of total monocytes,Ly-6cmedium monocytes,Ly-6chigh monocytes,total macrophages,M1 and M2 macrophages,or dendritic cells in the spleen among the three groups(P>0.05).The percentage of Ly-6clow monocytes did not differ substantially(P>0.05)between the fresh and-80℃frozen groups but was significantly lower in the 4℃storage group than in the fresh group(P<0.05).CONCLUSION:The storage conditions of the samples had a substantial effect on the flow cytometry results(antibody MFI and cell subset percentages)of the PBMCs and splenic cells,with tissue specificity.If the percentage of immune cell subgroups(particularly monocytes/macrophages/dendritic cells)in PBMCs is highly important,storage at 4℃for 7 d is preferable.If the MFI values of specific antibodies(such as CD45 and F4/80)are important,freezing at-80℃may be more appropriate.If the MFI values of most antibodies or the percentages of criti-cal subgroups(such as total monocytes/Ly-6chigh/total macrophages/dendritic cells)in splenic cells need to be close to those of fresh samples,4 ℃ storage for 7 d is more effective.Freezing at-80℃is preferable if the MFI values of particular anti-bodies(such as CD115 and Ly-6c)need to be determined.

6.MYH7 gene-related scapuloperoneal myosin storage myopathy: a case report

Objective:To report the clinical, imaging, and pathological features of a case of MYH7 gene-related scapuloperoneal myosin storage myopathy. Methods:Clinical data were collected from a patient with MYH7 gene-related scapuloperoneal myosin storage myopathy who presented to Peking University First Hospital in February 2025. The patient was evaluated with muscle magnetic resonance imaging, muscle biopsy, and whole-exome sequencing. Results:The patient was a 52-year-old female, with a 12-year history of progressive difficulty in foot dorsiflexion, exercise-induced fatigue, and lower limb pain. Over the past 3 years, she developed proximal upper limb weakness and post-exertional myalgia. Physical examination revealed scapuloperoneal weakness distribution accompanied by sensorineural hearing loss. Electromyography demonstrated myogenic changes in the deltoid and tibialis anterior muscles. Serum creatine kinase levels were within normal limits. Lower limb magnetic resonance imaging showed mild atrophy of the thigh muscles and significant fatty infiltration in the tibialis anterior, extensor hallucis longus, and extensor digitorum longus. Tibialis anterior muscle biopsy revealed dystrophic-like changes with sub-sarcolemmal hyaline bodies containing abundant granulofilamentous material. Whole exome sequencing identified a heterozygous pathogenic variant of c.5352_5354del(p.K1784del) in the MYH7 gene. Conclusions:This patient is the first reported one in China with MYH7 gene-related scapuloperoneal myosin storage myopathy, exhibiting characteristic scapuloperoneal weakness, selective fatty infiltration of the anterior lower leg muscles on imaging and sub-sarcolemmal hyaline body pathological changes. The diagnosis of this disease relies on characteristic pathological findings and genetic test results.
7.Application of 10° and 30° Brodén views in addition to lateral and axial calcaneal views in intraoperative fluoroscopy for calcaneal fractures

Objective:To explore the reliability of intraoperative fluoroscopy at lateral 10° and 30° Brodén views in addition to the standard lateral and axial calcaneal views in the lateral decubitus position to assess the quality of articular reduction in calcaneal fractures of Sanders types Ⅱ and Ⅲ.Methods:A retrospective study was conducted to analyze the clinical data of the 74 patients who had been treated at Department of Foot and Ankle Surgery, The People’s Hospital of Linyi for unilateral closed calcaneal fractures of Sanders type Ⅱ or Ⅲ from January 2024, to August 2024. According to the different methods of intraoperative fluoroscopy, the patients were divided into a precision group and a conventional group. In the precision group of 39 cases, intraoperative fluoroscopy was conducted at lateral 10° and 30° Brodén views in the surgery for calcaneal fractures in addition to the standard lateral and axial calcaneal views in the lateral decubitus position; in the conventional group of 35 cases, intraoperative fluoroscopy was conducted only in the standard lateral and axial calcaneal views in the surgery for calcaneal fractures. All patients were treated by traction assisted by external fixation, minimally invasive prying reduction through the tarsal sinus incision, and three-dimensional framework internal fixation. The 2 groups were compared in terms of frequency of intraoperative fluoroscopy; preoperative and postoperative B?hler angles, Gissane angles, and calcaneal varus angles; screw protrusions (more than 2 mm beyond the medial cortex) of the posterior articular surface screw, sustentaculum tali screw, and anterior tuberosity screw; skin irritation symptoms due to the main nail tail (protruding cortex > 1 mm); step-off of the posterior articular surface (more than 2 mm) and wide gap of the posterior articular surface (more than 2 mm).Results:There were no statistically significant differences in the preoperative general data between the 2 groups, indicating comparability ( P>0.05). Both groups showed significant postoperative improvements in X-ray B?hler angle, Gissane angle, and calcaneal varus angle compared with the preoperative values ( P<0.05). There were no statistically significant differences in postoperative X-ray B?hler angle, Gissane angle, or calcaneal varus angle between the 2 groups ( P>0.05). There was no statistically significant difference in the frequency of intraoperative fluoroscopy between the 2 groups either ( P>0.05). The precision group had significantly fewer cases of screw protrusion (more than 2 mm beyond the medial cortex) of the posterior articular surface screw, sustentaculum tali screw, and anterior tuberosity screw, skin irritation symptoms due to the main screw tail (protruding cortex>1 mm), step-off of the posterior articular surface (more than 2 mm), and wide gap of the posterior articular surface (more than 2 mm) on the postoperative CT three-dimensional reconstruction compared with the conventional group ( P<0.05). Conclusion:In surgery for calcaneal fractures of Sanders types Ⅱ and Ⅲ, intraoperative fluoroscopy at lateral 10° and 30° Brodén views in addition to the standard lateral and axial calcaneal views in the lateral decubitus position provides stable and reliable intraoperative monitoring of B?hler angle, Gissane angle, calcaneal varus angle, reduction of the posterior articular surface of the calcaneus and the positions and lengths of implants.
8.Mechanism of glucagon regulating hepatic metabolism in the state of insulin resistance

Glucagon and insulin are the main regulatory factors for blood glucose and jointly maintain the homeostasis of energy me-tabolism in the body,but the internal mechanism of the mutual regulation and influence between them remains complex and unclear.The liver is one of the key target organs for both insulin and glucagon,playing a crucial role in maintaining the homeostasis of glucose and lipid metabolism.Insulin resistance is often accompanied by abnormal glucose and lipid metabolism in the liver,which may affect the functional activity of glucagon in the liver.There is a glucagon-related feedback loop between the liver and the pancreas,known as the"liver-α-cell axis",which may play a critical role in understanding the metabolic effect of glucagon in the state of insulin resis-tance.In addition to the regulation of glucose homeostasis,the physiological action of glucagon has been extended to lipid and amino acid metabolism.Therefore,abnormal regulation of glucagon metabolism may further lead to the imbalance of glucose,lipid,and amino acid metabolism.This article briefly reviews the regulatory mechanism of glucagon in liver glucose homeostasis,lipid metabolism,and amino acid metabolism in physiological condition and the state of insulin resistance.
9.Study on the influencing factors and the relationship between public risk perception and evacuation behavior decision in typhoon disaster

Objective:This study aims to determine the risk perception, evacuation decision-making, and influencing factors related to typhoon disasters among public.Methods:A cross-sectional study will be conducted in residents of Hainan from September 2024 to January 2025. The study will employ chi-square tests, t-tests, and binary logistic regression analysis to examine factors influencing evacuation behavior decisions. Furthermore, structural equation modeling based on ordered choice model will be constructed to validate the mechanisms through which risk perception affects evacuation decision-making processes.Results:Among 517 respondents from 11 administrative districts (counties) in Hainan Province, 62.09% of the residents were willing to evacuate. The decision of public evacuation behavior was significantly related to disaster knowledge, official trust, risk perception, source of warning information and some demographic characteristics. Structural equation modeling demonstrated that warning information sources positively correlated with disaster knowledge and official trust (path coefficients: 0.363, 0.315, both P < 0.001). Both disaster knowledge and official trust showed positive correlations with risk perception (path coefficients: 0.157, 0.165, both P < 0.001), while risk perception positively influenced evacuation decisions (path coefficient: 0.137, P = 0.003). Moreover, source of warning information, disaster knowledge and official trust further positively affect evacuation behavior decision through risk perception, a key mediating variable. Conclusions:Disaster knowledge, official trust, risk perception and other factors can directly or indirectly affect the evacuation behavior of the public following the typhoon disaster. In typhoon-prone areas, it is recommended to enhance public risk perception through strategies such as authoritative training, diversified early warning channels, and improving government credibility, thereby promoting disaster preparedness and evacuation behaviors.
