Ergothioneine is a natural antioxidant known for its potent anti-inflammatory and antioxidative properties. It has been applied in various sectors such as food, cosmetics, and pharmaceuticals. Edible fungi, both wild and cultivated, stand as the primary natural sources capable of synthesizing ergothioneine. This paper reviews the research progress in the content, physiological functions, extraction and detection methods, synthetic genes and pathways, mycelium fermentation, and engineering strain construction for ergothioneine production. The aim is to provide a comprehensive reference for advancing the research and industrial development related to ergothioneine in edible fungi.

OBJECTIVE To explore the distribution of pathogens isolated from the thoracoscopic lobectomy patients with postoperative pulmonary infections and observe the expressions of maternal expression gene 3(MEG3)/microribonucleic acid-223(miR-223)/nucleotide-binding oligomerization domain-like receptor protein 3(NLRP3)axis in peripheral blood.METHODS Totally 48 lung cancer patients who underwent thoracoscopic lobec-tomy and had postoperative pulmonary infections in the First Affiliated Hospital of Guangzhou University of Chi-nese Medicine from Jun.2021 to Jun.2024 were assigned as the infection group,meanwhile,31 lung cancer pa-tients who underwent thoracoscopic lobectomy but did not have postoperative infections were chosen as the no in-fection group.The sputum specimens were collected from the infection group,the distribution of isolated patho-gens was analyzed.The clinical data and the expression MEG3,miR-223 and NLRP3 were observed and compared between the two groups.The values of MEG3,miR-223 and NLRP3 in prediction of the postoperative infections were analyzed by receiver operating characteristic(ROC)curves.RESULTS Totally 63 strains of pathogens were i-solated from the 48 thoracoscopic lobectomy patients with postoperative pulmonary infections,33(52.38％)of which were gram-negative bacteria,25(39.68％)were gram-positive bacteria,and 5(7.94％)were fungi.There were significant differences in age,diabetes mellitus,chronic obstructive pulmonary disease(COPD),operation duration,and expression levels of MEG3,miR-223 and NLRP3 between the infection group and the no infection group(P＜0.05).ROC curve analysis showed that the areas under the curves of MEG3,miR-223 and NLRP3 and the joint detection of the three indexes were 0.861,0.760,0.912 and 0.968,respectively,in prediction of the post-operative pulmonary infections,and the predictive efficiency of the joint detection was highest(P＜0.05).CONCLUSIONS The gram-negative bacteria are dominant among the pathogens isolated from the thoracoscopic lo-bectomy patients with postoperative pulmonary infections,the occurrence and progression of the infections may be closely associated with the activation of MEG3/miR-223/NLRP3 axis.The joint detection of the three indexes can effectively predict the postoperative pulmonary infections in the thoracoscopic lobectomy patients.

The pathogenesis of chronic wound healing is complex.It is often difficult to heal due to a long course of disease,difficulty in treatment,and it seriously affects the quality of life in patients.The active ingredients,couplet medicinals,and compound formulas of traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)possess unique advantages in the treatment of chronic wound healing.The phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase/protein kinase B(PI3K/Akt)signaling pathway is extremely critical in the treatment of chronic wound healing by regulating a series of biological processes,including cell apoptosis,angiogenesis,and inflammatory responses.This article reviews the relevant research on the regulation of the PI3K/Akt signaling pathway by TCM to promote chronic wound healing.It has been found that the active ingredients of TCM(such as geniposide,astragaloside,and ginsenosides,etc.),and compound formulas(such as Chonghe ointment,Huanglian ointment,Shirun shaoshang ointment,etc.)mainly reduce inflammatory responses,promote angiogenesis,regulate cell autophagy,and accelerate wound healing by activating the PI3K/Akt signaling pathway;at the same time,there are also a few couplet medicinals(such as Huangqi-Honghua)and compound formulas(such as Xiangpi Shengji ointment)that exert anti-inflammatory effects by inhibiting this signaling pathway,to promote wound healing.

Objective:To gain a deeper understanding of the comorbidity status of elderly patients with coronary heart disease and the effect of comorbidity on their hospitalization costs.Methods:Using the convenient sampling method, a total of 8 334 elderly hospitalized patients diagnosed with coronary heart disease in Beijing Hospital from January 2018 to December 2021 were selected as the research objects. General Inforamtion Questionnaire and Charson comorbidity index (CCI) were used to investigate the comorbidity of patients.Results:Among the 8 334 elderly patients with coronary heart disease included, 88.18% (7 349/8 334) had comorbidity, and there was a statistically significant difference in hospital costs among patients with different CCI scores ( P<0.01). Elderly patients with coronary heart disease with comorbidity had higher hospital costs. The results of the binomial logistic regression analysis showed that comorbidities increased the hospitalization costs of elderly coronary heart disease patients in both the unadjusted model and the gradually adjusted model for age, gender, occupation, education level, admission department, admission status, admission year, admission mode length of stay and disease classification ( P<0.05) . Conclusions:The comorbidity in elderly patients with coronary heart disease is serious, which is an important factor affecting hospitalization costs. In medical practice, it is necessary to strengthen the comprehensive management of elderly patients with coronary heart disease, pay attention to the influencing factors of hospitalization costs, optimize prevention and treatment strategies, control the occurrence and progression of comorbidities among patients, deepen the reform of medical insurance payment methods such as grouping payments based on disease diagnosis, so as to accurately reduce hospitalization costs and promote the sustainable and healthy development of the medical and health system.

Purpose Median arcuate ligament (MAL) compression is the most common reason for celiac artery stenosis or occlusion, celiac artery compression of asymptomatic MAL is often misdiagnosed. This study aims to evaluate the multi-slice spiral CT manifestations of the celiac artery compression of median arcuate ligament. Materials and Methods CT features of 26 patients with celiac artery compression of median arcuate ligament were retrospectively studied. Eleven cases were symptomatic and fifteen cases were asymptomatic. Results In 14 cases (53.8%), the location of compression was at the level of superior 1/3 of the L1 vertebral body. There was statistic difference in location of the origin of compression between the celiac artery narrowing group and the non-narrowing group (P<0.05). CT manifestations included: narrowing of the celiac artery were observed in 26 patients on sagittal reformatted images with hollow on the anterior wall; a characteristic hooked appearance was observed. Narrowed celiac artery on the transverse images was seen in 21 patients, and a soft-tissue band extending across the anterior aspect of artery in 12 of them. Poststenotic dilatation was revealed in 20 patients. Collateral circulation was seen in 8 patients. Conclusion Multi-slice spiral CT can be helpful in demonstrating the location of celiac artery compression of median arcuate ligament and tell the characteristic imaging features.

In order to identify problems in the use of antibiotics and propose corresponding countermeasures, a statistical analysis was made into 6 000 prescriptions and medical records detailing the use of antibiotics by outpatients and inpatients randomly selected from the years 2002～2003. It was found that the irrational use of antibiotics was prevalent. It is pointed out that high attention ought to be paid to the issue and countermeasures be adopted, including strengthening physician training in the "three basics", implementing various rules and regulations, adhering to the standards and guides for the use of antibiotics, dynamically tracing the use of antibiotics by means of the computer, and providing timely analysis and feedback of information on the use of antibiotics.
