ObjectiveStroke poses a heavy burden due to its high mortality and morbidity rates. Accurate and real-time detection of lesions is pivotal for prompt clinical intervention and favorable prognosis. Electrical impedance tomography (EIT) and microwave tomography (MWT) have emerged as compelling alternatives for stroke screening, owing to their non-ionizing, non-invasive and portable nature. EIT provides information on tissue conductivity, and MWT offers high sensitivity to changes in dielectric properties. However, single-modality imaging is inherently limited, EIT suffers from low sensitivity to deep-seated tissues and severe ill-posedness of inverse problems, whereas MWT is challenged by strong nonlinearity in inverse scattering and susceptibility to modeling errors. Consequently, the clinical utility of standalone EIT or MWT for stroke diagnosis remains constrained by poor spatial resolution and imaging artifacts. To improve the accuracy and robustness of stroke imaging, a dual-modality fusion conditional denoising diffusion probabilistic model (DM-DDPM) was proposed for high-precision dual-modality image reconstruction. MethodsA dual-encoder network with a symmetric architecture and independently trained parameters was constructed to extract heterogeneous features separately from EIT boundary voltage measurements and MWT scattered field signals. Attentional feature fusion (AFF) is employed to integrate complementary information from the two modalities adaptively, generating robust fused priors that suppress redundant noise while preserving key physical characteristics. Subsequently, the fused priors are embedded into a Transformer-based diffusion model via a cross attention mechanism to guide the reverse denoising process. This approach effectively reduces artifacts and enhances the stability of conductivity distribution reconstruction. Time step embedding is introduced to enable the network to perceive the diffusion stage and further improve the accuracy of noise prediction. ResultsSimulated experiments demonstrated that DM-DDPM significantly outperforms single-modality and multi-modality networks under various noise levels. A head model simulation dataset was constructed based on COMSOL Multiphysics, and tests were carried out under 50 dB, 40 dB and 30 dB signal-to-noise ratio levels. At 30 dB, the average relative error (RE) was below 0.20, while the structural similarity index measure (SSIM) and correlation coefficient (CC) remained above 0.90 and 0.89, respectively. Compared with single-modality and multi-modality networks, artifacts were significantly reduced, lesion edges were clearer, and localization was more accurate. The model maintains high reconstruction quality and strong robustness for single, double, and triple lesions simultaneously. Furthermore, physical experiments were conducted using a 16-electrode EIT system and a 16-antenna MWT system with asynchronous data acquisition. These experiments confirmed the feasibility of the method in real-world scenarios and demonstrated that it can robustly reconstruct simulated lesions despite environmental interference and measurement noise, validating its reliability for practical clinical applications. ConclusionThe proposed method effectively combines complementary dual-modality information with a conditional diffusion model. Low accuracy and poor noise resistance in single-modality imaging were effectively addressed, while the noise amplification issue caused by direct multimodal data fusion was avoided. The proposed algorithm exhibits strong anti-noise interference ability and high imaging stability in both simulation and physical experiments. Precise localization of stroke lesions with different quantities was achieved, providing a high-precision, and practical technical support for clinical stroke detection.

Mitochondria are organelles in eukaryotic cells that play a crucial role in cellular energy me-tabolism,oxidative stress, heat production, and signal transduction.Mitochondrial transplantation(MT)is currently one of the most advanced techniques for treating mitochondrial dysfunction and anti-aging re-search.This study aimed to explore the feasibility and effectiveness of xenogeneic MT by transplanting mitochondria from yak(Bos grunniens),domestic cattle(Bos taurus),and horse(Equus caballus)into mice(Mus musculus). The results demonstrated that mitochondria from yak, domestic cattle, and horse could be successfully transplanted into mice and maintained in various tissues and organs of the mice for at least 14 days,as confirmed by confocal imaging, digital PCR,and DNA sequencing.MT mice exhibi-ted positive biological effects, including increased ATP content and mitochondrial DNA copy number(P<0.05),with the maximum effect observed on day 7,which was sustained until day 14.Reactive oxygen species(ROS)levels in MT mice significantly increased at 2 hours post-injection(P<0.05),then grad-ually decreased towards baseline levels by day 7 and day 14(P>0.05).These findings support the effec-tiveness of xenogeneic MT and suggest that the effects can be maintained for up to 14 days. This study provides scientific evidence for future clinical applications.

Objective:To study the relationship between the levels of multiple elements in urine and the risk of arsenic poisoning in populations exposed to drinking water arsenic in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region (Inner Mongolia). Methods:From April 2023 to January 2024, a case-control study method was used to select 128 individuals with a residence time of ≥10 years in drinking water arsenic exposed areas in Inner Mongolia as study subjects. Eighty-one individuals diagnosed with arsenic poisoning were selected as the case group, and 47 healthy individuals were selected as the control group for urine sample collection and questionnaire survey. Inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry was employed to determine the levels of 10 elements (chromium, manganese, cobalt, nickel, copper, zinc, arsenic, molybdenum, cadmium and lead) in urine. The levels of each element in urine were divided into four groups ( Q1, Q2, Q3, and Q4 groups) based on quartiles. The associations between the levels of various elements in urine and the risk of arsenic poisoning were studied using binary logistic regression model and restricted cubic spline (RCS). Results:The age of the control group and the case group [ M ( Q1, Q3)] were 61 (53, 69) and 61 (56, 67) years old, respectively. There were 19 and 43 males, and 28 and 38 females, respectively. There was no statistically significant differences in age and and gender composition between the two groups ( Z = - 0.39, P = 0.700; χ 2 = 1.91, P = 0.167). The levels of urinary copper and cadmium of the case group were higher than those of the control group, and the differences were statistically significant ( Z = - 2.66, - 2.16, P < 0.05). The results of univariate logistic regression analysis showed that urinary copper was an influencing factor for arsenic poisoning ( P = 0.017). The results of multivariate logistic regression analysis revealed that after adjusting for covariates, urinary copper and arsenic were independent influencing factors of arsenic poisoning ( P < 0.05). Taking Q1 group as a reference, urinary copper in Q3 group [ OR (95% CI) = 8.23 (1.81, 37.39), P = 0.006] increased the risk of arsenic poisoning, while urinary arsenic in Q2, Q3, and Q4 groups [ OR (95% CI) = 0.24 (0.06, 0.92), 0.12 (0.03, 0.53), 0.15 (0.04, 0.63), P < 0.05] decreased the risk of arsenic poisoning. After adjusting for covariates, RCS did not show a dose-response relationship between urinary copper, urinary arsenic, and arsenic poisoning ( P > 0.05). Conclusion:Urinary arsenic and copper are associated with the risk of arsenic poisoning in the drinking water arsenic exposed areas of Inner Mongolia, copper exposure may contribute significantly to arsenic poisoning.

In the mid-20th century, internal mammary artery(IMA)ligation attracted attention for improving myocardial ischemia survival and relieving angina symptoms in animals, but was eliminated after sham-operation trials confirmed that its efficacy stemmed from a placebo effect.Recent advances in interventional techniques have led to the revival of distal IMA blockade, which has been shown to improve myocardial perfusion by modulating collateral circulation.Randomized controlled trials further showed that angina relief was significantly better in the blockade group than in the sham-operated group, especially in right coronary artery(RCA)and left anterior descending(LAD)lesions, but not in the ileocecal branch due to the lack of IMA collateral connections.Anatomy suggests that the internal mammary artery forms a natural collateral pathway to the RCA/LAD via the pericardial phrenic artery, which is the anatomic basis for its efficacy.Current technical limitations include incomplete occlusion,device-related complications, and insufficient evidence of long-term prognosis.Future studies are needed to optimize the design of occlusion devices, explore combined therapeutic strategies, and conduct controlled studies with conventional revascularization techniques. In this review,we systematically review the 100-year evolution of IMA occlusion, the paradigm shift from surgical ligation to precision intervention, analyze its anatomical and hemodynamic mechanisms, integrate evidence-based evidence and propose screening criteria for indications, and provide a new pathway for individualized treatment of high-risk patients who cannot tolerate coronary artery bypass grafting/percutaneous coronary intervention.

Aim To investigate the effect of N6-methy-ladenosine(m6A)demethylase ALKBH5 on the prolif-eration and migration of cardiac fibroblasts(CFs)in-duced by high glucose. Methods Primary CFs were isolated from neonatal mouse hearts and identified u-sing optical and confocal microscopy.Cell activation was induced using a high-glucose medium(33 mmol·L-1 glucose). An ALKBH5 overexpression model was established by transfecting CFs with an ALKBH5 ex-pression vector in a high-glucose medium. The expres-sion of ALKBH5 in CFs was assessed through immuno-fluorescence staining,Western blot and RT-qPCR.Changes in m6A levels were evaluated using Dot blot a-nalysis.Additionally,Alterations in the expression of proliferating cell nuclear antigen(PCNA)and collagenⅠ,a pivotal fibrosis indicator, were measured using Western blot. The proliferation and migration ability of CFs were assessed through EdU staining and Transwell migration assay, respectively. Results Following treatment with high glucose, the expression of ALKBH5 in CFs notably decreased, while m6A level increased. This was accompanied by a significant increase in the expression of the proliferation marker PCNA and the fi-brosis marker collagen Ⅰ.Additionally, there was a sig-nificant improvement in the ability of proliferation and migration.Overexpression of ALKBH5 resulted in a significant decrease in the expressions of PCNA and collagen Ⅰ,leading to the inhibition of both proliferation and migration in CFs.Conclusion Overexpression of ALKBH5 suppresses the expression of PCNA and colla-gen Ⅰ,consequently reducing the proliferation and mi-gration of CFs,potentially through m6A methylation modification.

Objective:To investigate the risk factors for postoperative coronal imbalance in patients with type A degenerative scoliosis and to refine the Qiu classification by reclassifying type A patients. Methods:A retrospective analysis was conducted on the clinical data of patients with type A degenerative scoliosis classified by the Qiu classification who underwent corrective surgery at our hospital from January 2017 to April 2022. A total of 69 patients were enrolled in the study, including 3 males and 66 females, with an age of 60.6±6.8 years (range: 47-71 years). Based on the preoperative CBD, type A patients were further divided into three subtypes: Aa with CBD≤1 cm, Ab with CBD>1 cm with C 7 plumb line deviation toward the concave side, and Ac with CBD>1 cm with C 7 plumb line deviation toward the convex side. The incidence of coronal imbalance was compared among subtypes. During follow-up, patients with CBD ≤3 cm were classified as balanced, and those with CBD>3 cm as imbalanced. Radiographic parameters including coronal Cobb's angle (CA), CBD, L 4 tilt angle, L 5 tilt angle, thoracic kyphosis (TK), lumbar lordosis (LL), pelvic incidence (PI), pelvic tilt (PT), sacral slope (SS), and sagittal vertical axis (SVA) were measured in the standing radiographs preoperatively, 2-weeks postoperatively and 2-years follow-up. Differences in radiographic parameters between balanced and imbalanced groups were compared, and binary logistic regression was used to identify risk factors for postoperative coronal imbalance. Results:In the imbalanced Group (22 patients), there were 6 patients of type Aa (27%), 5 patients of type Ab (23%), and 11 patients of type Ac (50%), and in the balanced Group (47 patients), there were 20 patients of type Aa (43%), 18 patients of type Ab (38%), and 9 patients of type Ae (19%). The difference in subtype distribution between the two groups was significant (χ 2=6.939, P=0.029). The CBD in the imbalanced group was significantly larger than in the balanced group at the 2-years follow-up (4.18±0.86 cm vs. 1.31±0.78 cm, t=-13.813, P<0.001). The preoperative L 4 tilt angle was significantly larger in the imbalanced group compared to the balanced group (23.59°±6.86° vs. 17.64°±8.34°, t=-2.914, P=0.005). And the postoperative and 2-years follow-up L 4 tilt angles were also significantly larger than the balanced group (18.6°±5.5° vs. 11.5°±5.7°, t=-4.904, P<0.001; 18.0°±5.6° vs. 11.1°±5.7°, t=-4.691, P<0.001). Regression analysis identified the Ac type [ OR=3.937, 95% CI(1.07, 14.55), P=0.040] and excessive postoperative L 4 tilt angle [ OR=1.288, 95% CI(1.09, 1.52), P=0.003] as risk factors for postoperative coronal imbalance in type A patients. Conclusions:In the A-type of Qiu classification, patients with preoperative CBD>1 cm and trunk tilting towards the convex side (Ac type), as well as those with a large L 4 tilt angle after surgery, are more likely to experience coronal plane imbalance after surgery.
