Aim To study the difference in hepatotox-icity of psoralen on normal rats and Yin-deficiency rats from the perspective of lipid metabolism,so as to help explain the mechanism of psoralen cautiously used in patients with Yin deficiency recorded in ancient books. Methods SD rats were randomly divided into the nor-mal control group(carboxymethyl cellulose-Na,CMC-Na),normal administration group(CMC-Na+psor-alen),Yin-deficiency control group(CMC-Na+thy-roxine)and Yin-deficiency administration group(CMC-Na+thyroxine+psoralen).The model of Yin-deficiency was established by thyroxine(1 mg·kg-1)for ten days, and then psoralen(200 mg·kg-1)was given for three days. The serum indexes related to liver injury were detected by automatic biochemical analy-zer,the morphological changes of liver tissue were ob-served using HE and oil red O staining, and the relative transcription levels of lipid metabolism related enzymes and mRNA of transporter and endoplasmic reticulum stress related factors were detected using Real-time PCR.Results After intragastric administration of psoralen for three days, compared with the normal group, the levels of serum alanine aminotransferase(ALT),aspartate transaminase(AST),total bile acid(TBA)and triglyeride(TG)in Yin deficiency group increased more significantly, while TC,ALB and TP de-creased more significantly, and liver HE and oil red O staining showed more obvious lipid degeneration.TG synthesis factors adrenocortical carcinoma(ACC),fatty acid synthase(FASN)and sterolregulatory element binding protein-1(SREBP-1)were down-regulated more significantly,TG transport factors mili-total pro-tein(MTP)and lipoprotein pipase(LPL)were down-regulated more evidently, fatty acid β-oxidation related factors carnitine palmitoyltransferase 1A(CPT1A),carnitine/organic cation transporter 2(OCTN2)and peroxisome proliferators-activated receptors-alpha(PPARα)were down-regulated more apparently,TC transporter adenosine triphosphate binding cassette transporter G8(ABCG8)and bile acid receptor farne-soid X receptor(FXR)were down-regulated more ob-viously,and endoplasmic reticulum stress factor activa-ting transcription factor 4(ATF4)was up-regulated more significantly. Conclusions Psoralen can cause more severe hepatotoxicity in Yin deficiency rats than that in normal administration group, and its mechanism may be related to the disorder of hepatic lipid metabo-lism,aggravation of hepatic cholestasis and steatosis, and activation of endoplasmic reticulum stress re-sponse.

To explore the variation laws of volatile oil during the extraction process of Artemisiae Argyi Folium and its impact on the quality of the medicinal solution, as well as to achieve precise control of the extraction process, this study employed headspace solid phase microextraction gas chromatography-mass spectrometry(HS-SPME-GC-MS) in combination with multiple light scattering techniques to conduct a comprehensive analysis, identification, and characterization of the changes in volatile components and the physical properties of the medicinal solution during the extraction process. A total of 82 volatile compounds were identified using the HS-SPME-GC-MS technique, including 21 alcohols, 15 alkenes, 14 ketones, 9 acids, 6 aldehydes, 5 phenols, 3 esters, and 9 other types of compounds. At different extraction time points(15, 30, 45, and 60 min), 71, 72, 64, and 44 compounds were identified in the medicinal solution, respectively. It was observed that the content of volatile components gradually decreased with the extension of extraction time. Through multivariate statistical analysis, four compounds with significant differences during different extraction time intervals were identified, namely 1,8-cineole, terpinen-4-ol, 3-octanone, and camphor. RESULTS:: from multiple light scattering techniques indicated that at 15 minutes of extraction, the transmittance of the medicinal solution was the lowest(25%), the particle size was the largest(0.325-0.350 nm), and the stability index(turbiscan stability index, TSI) was the highest(0-2.5). With the extension of extraction time, the light transmittance of the medicinal solution improved, stability was enhanced, and the particle size decreased. These laws of physicochemical property changes provide important basis for the control of Artemisiae Argyi Folium extraction process. In addition, the changes in the bioactivity of Artemisiae Argyi Folium extracts during the extraction process were investigated through mouse writhing tests and antimicrobial assays. The results indicated that the analgesic and antimicrobial effects of the medicinal solution were strongest at the 15-minute extracting point. In summary, the findings of this study demonstrate that the content of volatile oil in Artemisiae Argyi Folium extracts gradually decreases with the extension of extraction time, and the variation in volatile oil content directly influences the physicochemical properties and pharmacological efficacy of the medicinal solution. This discovery provides important scientific reference for the optimization of Artemisiae Argyi Folium extraction processes and the development and application of process analytical technologies.

OBJECTIVES:
This study aimed to use machine learning algorithms to build a prediction model of the first permanent molar caries of 9-year-old children in Suzhou and screen out risk factors.
METHODS:
Random stratified whole group sampling was applied to randomly select 9-year-old students from 38 primary schools in 14 townships and streets in Wuzhong District for oral examination and questionnaire survey. Multifactor Logistics regression was used to analyze the risk factors of tooth decay. The data set was randomly divided into training sets and verification sets according to 8∶2, and R 4.3.1 was used to build five machine learning algorithms: random forest, decision tree, extreme gradient boosting (XGBoost), Logistics regression, and lightweight gradient enhancement (LightGBM). The predictive effect of these five models was evaluated using the area under the characteristic curve (AUC). The marginal contribution of quantitative characteristics to the caries prediction model was determined through Shapley additive explanations (SHAP).
RESULTS:
This study included 7 225 samples that met the standard. The caries rate of the first permanent molar was 54.96%. Multifactor Logistic regression analysis showed that sweet drinks, dessert and candy, snack frequency, and snacks before going to bed after brushing teeth were correlated with the occurrence of first permanent molar caries (P<0.05). The AUC values of decision tree, Logistic regression, LightGBM, random forest, and XGBoost were 75.5%, 83.9%, 88.6%, 88.9%, and 90.1%, respectively. Compared with the variables after single heat coding, the SHAP value of high-frequency sweets (such as dessert candy ≥2 times a day, mother's sugary diet ≥2 times a day) and bad oral hygiene habits (such as frequent snacks before going to bed after brushing teeth and irregular brushing teeth) exhibited the highest positive.
CONCLUSIONS
XGBoost algorithm has a good prediction effect for first permanent molar caries in 9-year-old children. High-frequency sweet factors and bad oral hygiene habits have a strong positive impact on the risk of first permanent molar caries and are key drivers that can be used in the formulation of targeted interventions.

Medical Journal of Chinese People's Liberation Army 2025;50(4):444-451
Objective To analyze the correlation between hemoglobin(Hb),anemia, and sarcopenia in the elderly population in Chongqing communities. Methods A cross-sectional study was conducted on elderly individuals who underwent healthy examinations at 5 community health service centers in Chongqing from March to August 2023.Demographic characteristics, social factors, body composition measurement, grip strength,6-meter gait speed and blood tests were assessed.Receiver operating characteristic(ROC)curve was utilized to evaluate the accuracy of Hb in predicting sarcopenia, and the Youden index was employed to determine the optimal Hb cut-off value for diagnosing sarcopenia and its components. Both unadjusted and adjusted logistic regression analyses were performed to examine the relationship between Hb and anemia with sarcopenia and its components. Results A total of 531 elderly populations were included, with an average age of(71.1±6.5)years.The overall prevalence of sarcopenia was 13.6%(72/531),including 29 males(40.3%)and 43 females(59.7%).Unadjusted analyses showed that Hb was correlated with sarcopenia, decreased muscle mass, slower gait speed, and reduced grip strength(P<0.05).After adjusting for all potential risk factors,Hb was still significantly associated with sarcopenia and reduced grip strength(P<0.05).For every 10 g/L increase in Hb,the risk of sarcopenia decreased by 2.3%,and the risk of reduced grip strength decreased by 1.7%(P<0.05).Anemia was correlated with sarcopenia, reduced muscle mass, and decreased grip strength in unadjusted analyses(P<0.05),while the correlation between anemia and reduced grip strength remained significant after adjustment for all potential risk factors(P<0.05).The optimal Hb cut-off value for diagnosing sarcopenia in males and females were 148 g/L and 128 g/L,respectively.Conclusions Hb is an independent risk factor for sarcopenia and reduced grip strength.Anemia is associated with sarcopenia, but is not an independent risk factor for sarcopenia.
