Objective To gain insights into the biological characteristics of different populations of Culex tritaeniorhynchus within and around the Yellow Sea wetland from the perspective of the occurrence of resistance, we investigated the levels of resistance to deltamethrin and kdr gene mutation in the wetland and its peripheral areas. Methods Specimens were collected from Cx. tritaeniorhynchus populations at two monitoring sites in the Rare Bird National Nature Reserve and Tiaozi Ni Wetland Scenic Area, and also from two populations in Yancheng City and the Liuhe District of Nanjing, and the resistance of these mosquitoes to deltamethrin was determined using the CDC biotest bottle method. For each concentration of deltamethrin assessed, a random subset of exposed specimens was selected for amplification of the kdr gene fragment, followed by Sanger sequencing to identify and analyze resistance-associated mutations. Results The LC50 levels of deltamethrin among mosquitoes from the four populations in Luhe, Yancheng, the Rare Bird National Nature Reserve and the Tiaozi Ni Wetland Scenic Area were 2.048 5, 7.798 2, 3.473 3, and 17.695 5 mg/mL, respectively, with corresponding concentrations of deltamethrin ranging from 0.005 to 5.000,0.050 to 50.000,0.050 to 25.000 and 0.050 to 50.000 mg/mL, respectively. Furthermore, the ranges of the KT50 values were 11.76-107.43, 67.05-216.30,29.77-107.43 and 28.40-329.51 min; the 1-h knockdown rates were 34.58%-99.15%, 9.52%-43.80%, 55.09%-73.01%, and 10.09%-68.07%; and the 24-h mortality rates were 12.15%-67.52%,9.52%-79.56%,13.17%-82.21%, and 11.01%-78.99%, respectively. With respect to kdr gene mutation, we assayed a total of 63,70,59, and 57 mosquitoes for the four populations, for which we detected L1014F mutation frequencies of 14.29%, 35.00%, 20.34%, and 31.58%, respectively, with a majority of these mutations being heterozygous for resistance. In addition, five adult mosquitoes were identified has having synonymous mutations at site 1011[i. e. , AAT(asparagine)mutation to AAC(asparagine)]. Conclusions Our findings revealed the clear resistance of Cx. tritaeniorhynchus to deltamethrin in the Yancheng region of the Yellow Sea wetland, and the resistance phenotype and kdr frequency of Cx. tritaeniorhynchus in the wetland environment were comparable to those of Cx. tritaeniorhynchus in the wetland environment, thereby indicating that the resistance of different populations of Cx. tritaeniorhynchus was homogeneous under the pressure of different insecticide selection within and around the wetland. However, the underlying mechanisms need to be further studied.

Colorectal cancer (CRC), as a highly prevalent malignant tumor worldwide, continues to rank among the leading malignancies in both incidence and mortality. At present, the clinical treatment of CRC mainly relies on surgery, radiotherapy, chemotherapy, and drug therapy. However, due to individual differences among patients and the emergence of drug resistance in cancer cells, the postoperative recurrence rate remains high, significantly affecting patient prognosis. In recent years, traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) has attracted extensive attention in the field of tumor prevention and treatment because of its therapeutic advantages of multi-component, multi-target, multi-pathway, and holistic regulation. Aberrant activation of the Hedgehog signaling pathway is closely associated with the occurrence of various cancers. Studies have shown that the Hedgehog signaling pathway plays a key regulatory role in the occurrence and development of CRC. This pathway regulates the expression of downstream target genes through glioma-associated oncogene homolog (GLI) transcription factors and participates in biological processes such as tumor cell proliferation, apoptosis, invasion, and metastasis. It exerts anti- CRC effects through mechanisms including inducing apoptosis of CRC cells, inhibiting cancer cell proliferation, reversing drug resistance, and suppressing epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT), thereby influencing the progression of CRC. This article systematically reviews the latest research progress in China and abroad and comprehensively discusses the molecular regulatory mechanisms of the Hedgehog signaling pathway in CRC. It particularly focuses on the specific mechanisms by which active components of Chinese medicine, such as alkaloids and terpenoids, and Chinese medicine compound formulas, such as Baitouwengtang and Zhizhenfang, exert anti-CRC effects by interfering with the Hedgehog-GLI signaling axis. By integrating and analyzing the molecular relationship between the Hedgehog signaling pathway and the pathological progression of CRC, and combining the TCM theories of "holistic concept" and "syndrome differentiation and treatment", this article explores new TCM therapeutic strategies based on the Hedgehog signaling pathway, with the aim of providing innovative theoretical foundations and practical guidance for the prevention and treatment of CRC with TCM.

Debates persist regarding the efficacy and safety of azvudine, particularly its real-world outcomes. This study involved patients aged ≥60 years who were admitted to 25 hospitals in mainland China with confirmed SARS-CoV-2 infection between December 1, 2022, and February 28, 2023. Efficacy outcomes were all-cause mortality during hospitalization, the proportion of patients discharged with recovery, time to nucleic acid-negative conversion (T NANC), time to symptom improvement (T SI), and time of hospital stay (T HS). Safety was also assessed. Among the 5884 participants identified, 1999 received azvudine, and 1999 matched controls were included after exclusion and propensity score matching. Azvudine recipients exhibited lower all-cause mortality compared with controls in the overall population (13.3% vs. 17.1%, RR, 0.78; 95% CI, 0.67-0.90; P = 0.001) and in the severe subgroup (25.7% vs. 33.7%; RR, 0.76; 95% CI, 0.66-0.88; P < 0.001). A higher proportion of patients discharged with recovery, and a shorter T NANC were associated with azvudine recipients, especially in the severe subgroup. The incidence of adverse events in azvudine recipients was comparable to that in the control group (2.3% vs. 1.7%, P = 0.170). In conclusion, azvudine showed efficacy and safety in older patients hospitalized with COVID-19 during the SARS-CoV-2 omicron wave in China.

Peptide-based radiopharmaceuticals targeting integrin α5β1 show promise for precise tumor diagnosis and treatment. However, current peptide-based radioligands that target α5β1 demonstrate inadequate in vivo performance owing to limited tumor retention. The use of PEGylation to enhance the tumor retention of radiopharmaceuticals by prolonging blood circulation time poses a risk of increased blood toxicity. Therefore, a PEGylation strategy that boosts tumor retention while minimizing blood circulation time is urgently needed. Here, we developed a PEGylation-enabled peptide multidisplay platform (PEGibody) for PR_b, an α5β1 targeting peptide. PEGibody generation involved PEGylation and self-assembly. [64Cu]QM-2303 PEGibodies displayed spherical nanoparticles ranging from 100 to 200 nm in diameter. Compared with non-PEGylated radioligands, [64Cu]QM-2303 demonstrated enhanced tumor retention time due to increased binding affinity and stability. Importantly, the biodistribution analysis confirmed rapid clearance of [64Cu]QM-2303 from the bloodstream. Administration of a single dose of [177Lu]QM-2303 led to robust antitumor efficacy. Furthermore, [64Cu]/[177Lu]QM-2303 exhibited low hematological and organ toxicity in both healthy and tumor-bearing mice. Therefore, this study presents a PEGibody-based radiotheranostic approach that enhances tumor retention time and provides long-lasting antitumor effects without prolonging blood circulation lifetime. The PEGibody-based radiopharmaceutical [64Cu]/[177Lu]QM-2303 shows great potential for positron emission tomography imaging-guided targeted radionuclide therapy for α5β1-overexpressing tumors.

Science of Traditional Chinese Medicine 2025;3(4):306-319
Osteoarthritis (OA) is a prevalent degenerative joint disease predominantly affecting the elderly and is characterized by cartilage degradation, synovitis, and subchondral bone sclerosis. Despite its widespread occurrence, no effective pharmacological interventions currently exist to halt or reverse disease progression. Polyphenolic compounds, a diverse class of plant-derived substances, have attracted considerable attention for their potent anti-inflammatory and antioxidant activities. This review summarizes recent advances in understanding the multifaceted roles of polyphenols in OA. Specifically, polyphenols protect chondrocytes and preserve the extracellular matrix by mitigating oxidative stress, suppressing inflammation, regulating autophagy and cholesterol metabolism, and inhibiting programmed cell death pathways, including apoptosis, pyroptosis, and ferroptosis. Furthermore, they exert protective effects on synovial tissue by regulating macrophage polarization and inhibiting pathogenic fibroblast activation, while also contributing to the maintenance of subchondral bone homeostasis. Recent progress in nanotechnology-based delivery systems, designed to overcome the poor solubility and limited bioavailability of polyphenols, is also highlighted. Collectively, this review integrates mechanistic insights with emerging therapeutic strategies, underscoring the potential of polyphenolic compounds as disease-modifying agents for OA.

Journal of Capital Medical University 2025;46(4):742-748
Diabetic nephropathy(DN)ranks as a frequent and serious complication in diabetes mellitus, and it's a key factor in chronic kidney disease and end-stage renal disease(ESRD),greatly diminishing the life quality of patients.Presently, the conventional treatment approaches for DN mainly involve strict regulation of blood sugar and pressure,in conjunction with the application of renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system inhibitors. While these therapies can slow down the advancement of DN,they are ineffective in stopping its final development into ESRD.Lately, the involvement of the gut-kidney axis in the development and advancement of DN has attracted growing interest.Individuals suffering from DN show changes in the variety of gut microbiota, which are crucial in the development and management of DN due to metabolic interactions with the host. The goal of this analysis is to explore the fundamental processes of gut microbiota's role in DN and explore treatment approaches focusing on gut microbiota, aiming to offer new perspectives for the clinical handling of DN.
