Chinese Journal of Blood Transfusion 2025;38(1):26-37
[Objective] To explore the relationship between anti-HEV antibody reactivity rate and different age groups in Chinese voluntary blood donors by Meta-analysis. [Methods] Literatures on anti-HEV IgG reactivity rate and anti-HEV IgM reactivity rate of voluntary blood donors in different age groups in China were searched from China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI), PubMed and Wanfang Medicine database, with a search time from January 1, 2007 to December 31, 2023. Risk difference (RD) was selected as the effect size after grouping the included literature according to age, and meta-analysis was performed using Review Manager 5.3 software. [Results] A total of 17 articles were included, among which 16 were about anti-HEV IgG and 15 about anti-HEV IgM. Based on different age grouping methods, they were divided into two groups. The age groups of group A were divided into ≤ 20 years old, 21-30 years old, 31-40 years old, 41-50 years old and >50 years old. The age groups of group B were divided into 18-25 years old, 26-35 years old, 36-45 years old, and ≥46 years old. The pooled results of Meta-analysis showed that the RD value of anti-HEV IgG reactivity rate in group A was 22.92% [95% CI (19.02%, 26.82%)], and the RD value of anti-HEV IgM reactivity rate was 0.67% [95% CI (0.51%, 0.82%)]. The RD value of anti-HEV IgG reactivity rate in group B was 33.03% [95% CI (28.01%, 38.05%)], and the RD value of anti-HEV IgM reactivity rate was 1.13% [95% CI (1.05%, 1.21%)]. The results of subgroup analysis showed that in both group A and B, the anti-HEV IgG reactivity rate in voluntary blood donors increased with age. In group A, no increase in the reactivity rate of anti-HEV IgM with age was found in voluntary blood donors. In group B, the anti-HEV IgM reactivity rate increased with age. Further analysis showed that in the two groups of A and B, the anti-HEV IgM reactivity rate increased with age in areas where the anti-HEV IgM reactivity rate was greater than 1%. [Conclusion] The anti-HEV IgG reactivity rate and anti-HEV IgM reactivity rate in voluntary blood donors increased with age.

Objective:To predict the monthly incidence of hemorrhagic fever with renal syndrome (HFRS) in Hebei Province by using the generalized additive model (GAM).Methods:The incidence data of HFRS in Hebei from 2006 to 2020 were collected, and the correlation coefficients between meteorological factors and the monthly incidence of HFRS in Hebei were analyzed by Spearman's correlation, and the meteorological factors were lagged by 0-6 orders, and those with the largest absolute values of the correlation coefficients were screened to be included in the multifactorial GAM to evaluate the effects of meteorological factors. Results:The monthly incidence of HFRS had the strongest correlation with monthly mean air temperature at lag order 2, monthly mean wind speed at lag order 0, monthly mean sunshine at lag order 4, monthly mean precipitation at lag order 2 and monthly mean humidity at lag order 1, which were diagnosed by the variance inflation factor and included in the multifactorial GAM, and the results showed significant differences among the factors (all P<0.001), and they showed non-linear relationships with the monthly incidence of HFRS. Mean monthly temperature was an important factor influencing HFRS incidence. Mean monthly air temperature, mean monthly sunshine and mean monthly wind speed were negatively associated with HFRS incidence, whereas mean monthly precipitation and mean monthly humidity were positively associated with HFRS incidence. Conclusions:There was a complex non-linear relationship between meteorological factors and the incidence of HFRS. GAM incorporated with lagged meteorological factors can be used to predict the incidence of HFRS in Hebei.

Objective:To discuss whether hyperbaric oxygen(HBO)can enhance the drug sensitivity of Hela cells to cisplatin(DDP)and how does it work. Methods:After the Hela cells were cultured, they were divided into control group,DDP group,HBO group, and HBO+DDP group. The control group was not treated. The DDP group was treated with 20 μmol/L DDP for 24 h. The HBO group was treated with 0.2 MPa HBO for 3 h,and the HBO+DDP group was treated with 20 μmol/L DDP for 24 h after HBO pretreatment for 3 h. The proliferation of Hela cells was detected by CCK-8 assay, and the apoptosis of Hela cells was detected by flow cytometry. Transwell assay was used to detect the migration ability of Hela cells, and western blotting was used to detect the expression levels of proteins related to the apoptosis of Hela cells. Results:The Hela cells survival rate in the DDP group was significantly lower than those in the control group and the HBO group, and was higher than that in the HBO+DDP group( P<0.05). The migration rate of Hela cells in the HBO+DDP group[(19.61±1.53)%]was significantly lower than that in the DDP group[(48.19±2.47)%],and the difference was statistically significant( P<0.05). The apoptosis rate of Hela cells in the HBO+DDP group[(58.68±3.69)%]was significantly higher than that in the DDP group[(35.74±3.57)%],and the difference was statistically significant( P<0.05). The protein expression levels of Bad and caspase-3 in Hela cells in the HBO+DDP group were significantly increased and the protein expression of Bcl-2 was significantly decreased compared with those in the DDP group, and the differences were all statistically significant( P<0.05 or P<0.01). Conclusion:The combination of HBO and DDP can improve the sensitivity of Hela cells to cisplatin chemotherapy by enhancing the proliferation inhibition,apoptosis-inducing,and migration-blocking effects of DDP on Hela cells.

Dengue viruses(DENV) are seriously affected by cell autophagy in intracellular replication, transmission between host, and the pathogenic mechanism. Here, the latest research progress of complex interplay between DENV and cell autophagy were reviewed in this paper.Autophagy,a cellular procedural protein degradation pathway generally possessed by all eukaryotes plays a key role in response to outside pressure and maintaining cellular homeostasis. This catabolic pathway also promotes cell survival against the invasion of pathogens such as various viruses. However, autophagy plays an opposite role in the replication of DENV.Autophagy not only provides a replication site for viruses to replicate, but also provides a source of energy for this process.Cell autophagy also participates in the pathogenesis of some DENV infection. In short, autophagy contributes to the replication of DENV.

Objective To assess the influence of metabolic syndrome(MS)on the success rate of catheter ablation for the treatment of atrial fibrillation (AF)in the elderly. Methods A retrospective study included a total of 221 aged patients with AF who underwent AF ablation for the first time. The patients were divided into two groups :an MS group(n=72)and a control group(without MS)(n=149) . The MS group had a mean age of (67.1 ± 5.2) years ;the control group had a mean age of (68.3 ± 5.7) years. Forty-six patients in the MS group and 105 patients in the control group experienced paroxysmal atrial fibrillation. Prognoses in two groups were compared at the end of the follow-up. Results At the end of the follow-up ,the success rates of the procedure in the MS group and the control group were 37.5%(n = 27)and 51.7%(n = 77) ,respectively (χ2= 3.917 ,P = 0.049) .Recurrence happened in 19 patients of the MS group and 28 patients of the control group ,and they underwent a repeat ablation. The overall success rates after the last ablation in the two groups were 51.4%(n=37)and 65.8%(n=98) ,respectively (χ2=4.224 ,P=0.034).In the multivariable model adjusted for risk factors ,MS(HR=1.42 ,95% CI :1.11-1.64 ,P=0.033)and left atrial diameter(HR= 1.83 ,95% CI :1.27-3.19 , P = 0.017 ) were independent predictors for recurrence. Conclusions MS can affect the success rate of catheter ablation for AF in elderly patients and the effect remains even after the procedures are repeated
