OBJECTIVE To investigate the protective effect and potential mechanism of Arisaema Cum Bile on acute liver injury induced by carbon tetrachloride (CCl4) in mice. METHODS Fifty mice were randomly divided into normal group, model group, positive control group (Biphenyl diester dropping pills, 150 mg/kg), Arisaema Cum Bile low-dose and high-dose groups (0.78, 2.34 g/kg), with 10 mice in each group. The mice in each group were given relevant medicine intragastrically, once a day, for 7 consecutive days. Two hours after the last administration, those groups were given intraperitoneal injection of 0.2% CCl4-olive oil solution to induce acute liver injury model except for normal group. Seventeen hours after intraperitoneal injection, the serum levels of alanine aminotransferase (ALT), aspartate aminotransferase (AST), interleukin-6 (IL-6), tumor necrosis factor-α(TNF- α), and malondialdehyde (MDA), superoxide dismutase (SOD) in liver tissue were measured with kit method. The hepatic index was detected. The pathological changes of liver tissue were observed by HE staining, and the degree of liver injury was scored quantitatively. The mRNA expressions of TNF-α and IL-6 in liver tissue were detected by real-time fluorescence quantitative PCR; the protein expressions of Janus kinase 2 (JAK2), signal transducer and activator of transcription protein 3 (STAT3) and nuclear factor-κB p65 (NF-κB p65) in liver tissue were detected by Western blot assay. RESULTS Compared with normal group, the levels of ALT, AST, IL-6, TNF-α and MDA, the hepatic index were increased significantly (P<0.05), while the level of SOD was decreased significantly (P<0.05); the mRNA E-mail:qhwang668@sina.com expressions of IL-6 and TNF-α, and the protein expressions of JAK2, STAT3 and NF-κB p65 were up-regulated significantly (P<0.05); the pathological observation of liver tissue showed that the structure of hepatic cord was seriously disordered, there were many inflammatory cells infiltration of liver cells, and the liver injury score was significantly increased (P<0.05). Compared with model group, pathological changes and above indexes in mice were improved significantly in Arisaema Cum Bile low-dose and high-dose groups (P<0.05). CONCLUSIONS Arisaema Cum Bile has a protective effect on CCl4-induced acute liver injury in mice, which may be related to the inhibition of inflammatory response mediated by JAK2/STAT3/NF-κB signal pathway and antioxidant stress.

Lower extremity deep vein thrombosis (DVT) is one of the main complications in patients with traumatic fractures, and for severe patients, the DVT can even affect arterial blood supply, resulting in insufficient limb blood supply. If the thrombus breaks off, pulmonary embolism may occur, with a high mortality. The treatment and rehabilitation strategies of thrombosis in patients with lower extremity fractures have its particularity. DVT in traumatic fractures patients has attracted extensive attention and been largely studied, and the measures for prevention and treatment of DVT are constantly developing. In recent years, a series of thrombosis prevention and treatment guidelines have been updated at home and abroad, but there are still many doubts about the prevention and treatment of DVT in patients with different traumatic fractures. Accordingly, on the basis of summarizing the latest evidence-based medical evidence at home and abroad and the clinical experience of the majority of experts, the authors summarize the clinical treatment and prevention protocols for DVT in patients with traumatic fractures, and make this consensus on the examination and assessment, treatment, prevention and preventive measures for DVT in patients with different fractures so as to provide a practicable approach suitable for China ′s national conditions and improve the prognosis and the life quality of patients.

Objective:To investigate the pathogenic spectrum of hand, foot and mouth disease(HFMD)from 2017 to 2019 in Guangzhou, and analyze molecular epidemiological characteristics of coxsackievirus A6 (CV-A6).Methods:Enterovirus A71 (EV-A71), CV-A16, CV-A6 and enterovirus were tested by reverse transcription-quantitative polymerase chain reaction(RT-qPCR). The CV-A6 representative samples were isolated and the VP1 region of isolates were amplified and analized by Mega5.0 and SeqMen.Results:A total of 7 578 enterovirus-positive specimens were detected from 2017 to 2019, 320 specimens were positive for EV-A71, 1481 specimens were positive for CV-A16, 3171specimens were positive for CV-A6, and 2606 specimens were positive for other enterovirus. Children under the age of 5 years were the most vulnerable population, and the male/female incidence ratio was 1.56∶ 1.The incidence occurred in all seasons, one peak between May and July, the other between September and November. The virus was isolated from 80 CV-A6 positive specimens and the full length of VP1 gene region was sequenced and nucleotide sequence similarity analysis was performed. The nucleotide homology in the VP1 region was 93%-100%, and the amino acid homology was 98%-100%. The nucleotide homology with the CV-A6 prototype strain (Gdula) VP1 region was 79%-81%, and the amino acid homology was 95%-97%. The nucleotide homology with the representative strain of D3 subtype was 92%-98%, and the amino acid homology was 98%-100%. Phylogenetic tree shows that all CV-A6 belonged to the sub-genotype D3 and distributed in multiple branches.Conclusions:CV-A6 is emerging as one of the major pathogen causing HFMD in Guangzhou, and all insolates belonged to D3 subtype. Closely monitoring the molecular characteristics of CV-A6 and changes in the pathogen spectrum can provide scientific basis for HFMD prevention and control.

OBJECTIVETo explore the effects of noise exposure level and cumulative noise exposure (CNE) on the relationship between rs2070424 and rs10432782 SNPs in SOD1 and the susceptibility to noise-induced hearing loss (NIHL).
METHODSA case-control study was performed for investigating the effects of environmental risk factors on the susceptibility to NIHL in 201 sensitive workers and 202 resistant workers.A questionnaire was utilized to investigate the occupational health and to identify the occupational risk factors. The noise exposure levels were detected according to the Chinese standard Measurement of noise in the workplace (GBZ/T 189.8-2007). The peripheral blood samples (5 ml blood for each sample) were from sensitive workers and resistant workers. Genomic DNA was extracted on the basis of the standard procedures of Takara kit. SNPs were detected using standard procedures of TaqMan probe allele identification method.
RESULTSIn group exposed to 85 - 92 dB noise (A), the risk of NIHL in the subjects with the AA genotype of rs2070424 was lower than that in the subjects with the GG genotype, OR = 0.37 (95%CI: 0.17∼ 0.80). In group exposed to > 82 dB CNE (A), the AA genotype of rs2070424 is a protective factor of NIHL, as compared with the GG genotype, OR = 0.25 (95%CI: 0.09 ∼ 0.70). In group exposed to 85 - 92 dB noise (A), the risk of NIHL in the subjects with the GG genotype of rs10432782 was compared with the risk of NIHL in the subjects with the TT genotype, OR = 3.17 (95%CI: 1.16 ∼ 6.89). The GT genotype was compared with TT genotype, OR = 2.39 (95%CI: 1.16 ∼ 4.97). In group exposed to 75 ∼ 82 dB CNE (A), the risk of NIHL in the subjects with the GG genotype was compared with the risk of NIHL in the subjects with the TT genotype, OR = 2.35 (95%CI: 0.96 ∼ 5.72), P = 0.06. The GG genotype may bea risk factor of NIHJ.
CONCLUSIONThe noise exposure level and CNE may influence the relationship between rs2070424, rs10432782 SNPs in SOD1 and noise-induced hearing loss.

BACKGROUNDSoft tissue rheumatism is a group of common rheumatic disorders reported in many countries. For investigating the prevalence rate of soft tissue rheumatism in different population in China, we carried out a population study in Shantou rural and Taiyuan urban area.
METHODSSamples of 3915 adults in an urban area of Taiyuan, Shanxi Province, and 2350 in a rural area of Shantou, Guangdong Province were surveyed. Modified International League of Association for Rheumatology (ILAR)-Asia Pacific League of Association for Rheumatology (APLAR) Community Oriented Program for Control of Rheumatic Diseases (COPCORD) core questionnaire was implemented as screening tool. The positive responders were then all examined by rheumatologists.
RESULTSPrevalence rate of soft tissue rheumatism was 2.0% in Taiyuan, and 5.3% in Shantou. Rotator cuff (shoulder) tendinitis, adhesive capsulitis (frozen shoulder), lateral epicondylitis (tennis elbow), and digital flexor tenosynovitis (trigger finger) were the commonly seen soft tissue rheumatism in both areas. Tatarsalgia, plantar fasciitis, and De Quervain's tenosynovitis were more commonly seen in Shantou than that in Taiyuan. Only 1 case of fibromyalgia was found in Taiyuan and 2 cases in Shantou. The prevalence of soft tissue rheumatism varied with age, sex and occupation.
CONCLUSIONSSoft tissue rheumatism is common in Taiyuan and Shantou, China. The prevalence of soft tissue rheumatism was quite different with different geographic, environmental, and socioeconomic conditions; and varying with age, sex, and occupation. The prevalence of fibromyalgia is low in the present survey.

OBJECTIVETo validate the difference on the prevalence of rheumatic symptoms between north and south parts of the country and to study the associated risk factors of rheumatic complaints in Shantou city, China.
METHODSA total number of 10 638 people at above 16 years of age from four samples, were surveyed in 1987, 1992, 1995, and 1999. Protocol of International League Against Rheumatism (ILAR)-China collaborative study or WHO-ILAR community oriented program for control of rheumatic disease(COPCORD) core questionnaire was implemented. Data on related rheumatic symptoms were collected and analyzed.
RESULTSThe prevalence rate of rheumatic complaints had been increasing in Shantou area during the last decade (in 1987 11.6%, 1992 12.5%, 1995 16.0% and 1999 19.8%) but still lower than that seen in Beijing, China in 1987(40.0%). Rheumatic symptoms were more prevalent in females than in males, in elderly than in young people with most frequently involved site happened in low back area, followed by knee and neck. Lumbar pain was more frequent among rural residents, while neck pain was more prevalent in urban school students. Prevalence of knee pain was significantly higher in people living in multi-storey buildings without elevator than those living in single-storey houses. The peak values of Bone Mineral Density in Shantou population were (0.839 +/- 0.085) g/cm2 in men, and (0.723 +/- 0.064) g/cm2 in women, significantly higher than that reported in 13 other provinces and cities including Beijing. The sense of seeking for medical help was higher in population with higher prevalence of rheumatic symptoms than that in lower complaints group. However, no significant difference was found in the rates of disability among the different populations.
CONCLUSIONThe prevalence rate of rheumatic complaints was lower in Shantou than that in Beijing. Socio-economic status, environment, sex, age, occupation, ergonomics, bone mineral density, and awareness of seeking medical care might have been the associated risk factors to the prevalence of rheumatic complaints.
