Objective To explore the association between meteorological factors and suicide in cancer patients. Methods Based on the Shandong Multicenter Healthcare Big Data Platform, data on suicide deaths of cancer patients were collected from January 2010 to December 2021. Meteorological data were extracted for the corresponding time. Conditional logistic regression models were constructed using case-crossover design to explore the association between meteorological factors and suicide risk. Results A total of 80 patients with cancer suicide deaths were included, including 48 males, 32 females, and 43 patients aged 60 and above. Suicide risk in cancer patients increased with increasing monthly average temperatures, with an OR of 1.20 (95% CI: 1.12 - 1.28). The ORs for monthly average maximum and minimum temperatures were 1.20 (95% CI: 1.13 - 1.29) and 1.19 (95% CI: 1.12 - 1.27), respectively. Monthly average sunshine duration and monthly average precipitation were negatively associated with the risk of suicide in cancer patients. However, no associations were observed on daily and weekly scales. In all subgroups, the increase in monthly mean temperature, monthly mean minimum temperature, and monthly mean maximum temperature was associated with the increased suicide risk of cancer patients. The risk of suicide among males, females and cancer patients ≥ 60 years were affected by monthly mean sunshine duration, while cancer patients < 60 years were more susceptible to the influence of monthly mean precipitation. Conclusion The meteorological factors are highly related to the risk of suicide in cancer patients, and psychological interventions for cancer patients during weather changes should be strengthened to reduce their suicide risk.

Objective:To investigate the efficacy of radiotherapy in patients with advanced esophageal cancer receiving first-line chemoimmunotherapy.Methods:A retrospective analysis was conducted on the data of 137 patients with Stage Ⅳ esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC) treated at our hospital from January 2018 to May 2023. These patients were divided into two groups: a group treated with first-line chemoimmunotherapy combined with radiotherapy (chemoimmunotherapy + radiotherapy group, n = 43) and a group treated with only chemoimmunotherapy ( n = 94). Inverse probability of treatment weighting (IPTW) was applied to balance baseline characteristics between the groups. With overall survival (OS) and progression-free survival (PFS) as study endpoints, the survival data were analyzed using the Kaplan-Meier method, the log-rank test, and the Cox regression method. Results:Before calibration, the chemoimmunotherapy + radiotherapy group significantly outperformed the sole chemoimmunotherapy group in median PFS (13.6 months vs. 7.0 months; HR: 0.501, 95% CI: 0.309-0.811, P = 0.005). After calibration using the COX proportional-hazards model for age, gender, Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group (ECOG) performance status, smoking history, T/N/M stage, and tumor location, the chemoimmunotherapy + radiotherapy group still had significant advantages in PFS (14.7 months vs. 7.0 months; HR: 0.441, 95% CI: 0.261-0.745, P = 0.002). IPTW analysis further confirmed this trend (13.9 months vs. 7.0 months; HR: 0.492, 95% CI: 0.304-0.795, P < 0.001). Specifically, the median OS of the chemoimmunotherapy + radiotherapy group demonstrated significant improvement in all analyses: pre-calibration (29.5 months vs. 18.0 months; HR: 0.507, 95% CI: 0.297-0.867, P = 0.013), after calibration using the Cox model (27.5 months vs. 16.7 months; HR: 0.470, 95% CI: 0.266-0.830, P = 0.009), and after calibration using IPTW (29.5 months vs. 16.9 months; HR: 0.448, 95% CI: 0.262-0.764, P < 0.001). Conclusions:The combination of radiotherapy and first-line chemoimmunotherapy can significantly improve survival outcomes of patients with advanced ESCC, suggesting its potential as a standard treatment strategy.

Objective To investigate the influencing factors associated with the comorbidity of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) and depression. Methods A case-control study was conducted based on the ^“Healthcare Big Data Platform^” of a tertiary class-A comprehensive hospital in Shandong Province. IBD comorbid with depression was served as the case group and IBD without depression was served as the control group. Propensity score matching (PSM) was performed by matching the case group with the control group in a ratio of 1:2 according to the age and gender of the patients. Conditional logistic regression model was used to explore the influencing factors associated with the comorbidity of IBD and depression. Results A total of 405 patients with IBD were enrolled in this study, including 270 patients without depression and 135 patients comorbid with depression. The results of conditional logistic regression showed that the use of immunosuppressants (OR=2.84, 95% CI: 1.00-8.07) and glucocorticoids (OR=2.05, 95% CI: 1.17-3.58), dementia (OR=5.20, 95% CI:1.59-17.05), cardiovascular disease (OR=3.58, 95% CI: 1.84-6.98) and cancer (OR=2.63, 95% CI: 1.16-5.95) were associated with the comorbidity of depression and IBD. Conclusion Attention should be paid to the use of immunosuppressants and glucocorticoids in the population of IBD comorbid with depression, and the coexistence of physical diseases such as dementia, cardiovascular disease and cancer. Early prevention and targeted treatment measures should be taken for high-risk populations to reduce their risk of depression and improve their quality of life and health.

Objective To explore the distribution of common TCM syndromes and symptoms of insomnia;To prepare for the construction of the theoretical framework and item pool of syndrome diagnosis and efficacy evaluation scale.Methods TCM guideline standards of insomnia,textbooks and journals over the years were retrieved,the information of TCM syndromes,syndrome elements and symptoms was extracted,the guideline textbook and journal database were established,and descriptive statistics,association rules,systematic clustering,factor analysis,potential categories and implicit structure analysis were carried out.Results Totally 116 guide standards and textbooks over the years were included,and 454 articles of journals were included.The high-frequency symptoms accounted for≥3%of the guide textbooks and journal databases were 87 and 79 categories,respectively,and the cumulative proportion was 87.48%and 87.75%,respectively.According to the analysis results,five common TCM syndromes and their characteristic symptom classification of insomnia were finally deduced.According to the frequency/person time distribution,they were heart and spleen deficiency syndrome,yin deficiency and fire hyperactivity syndrome,liver fire disturbing heart syndrome,phlegm heat disturbing heart syndrome,heart and gallbladder qi deficiency syndrome.Conclusion There are five common TCM syndromes of insomnia,and the characteristic symptoms of each TCM syndrome provide a reference source for the theoretical framework of syndrome diagnosis and efficacy evaluation scale and the establishment of item pool.

Objective:To investigate the mediating effect of rehabilitation exercise self-efficacy in the relationship between psychological pain and quality of life among postoperative patients with osteoporotic fractures.Methods:A total of 203 patients with osteoporotic fractures who underwent surgical treatment in the Department of Orthopedics of the Affiliated Hospital of Jining Medical University from June 2023 to June 2024 were recruited using convenience sampling. Postoperatively, patients were assessed with the General Information Questionnaire, the Self-Efficacy Rehabilitation Outcome Scale (SER), the Psychological Pain Scale, and the World Health Organization on Quality of Life Brief Scale (WHOQOL-BREF). The mediating role of rehabilitation exercise self-efficacy was tested using the bootstrap method.Results:A total of 210 questionnaires were distributed, with 203 valid responses collected, yielding an effective response rate of 96.67%. The mean scores of rehabilitation exercise self-efficacy, psychological pain, and quality of life were (65.56±8.89), (26.68±5.57), and (85.90±5.59), respectively. Correlation analysis showed that rehabilitation exercise self-efficacy was negatively correlated with psychological pain ( r=-0.562, P<0.01), psychological pain was negatively correlated with quality of life ( r=-0.801, P<0.01), and rehabilitation exercise self-efficacy was positively correlated with quality of life ( r=0.741, P<0.01). Mediation analysis revealed that rehabilitation exercise self-efficacy partially mediated the relationship between psychological pain and quality of life, with an effect size of -0.231 ( P<0.01), accounting for 38.95% of the total effect. Conclusions:Psychological pain not only directly affects the quality of life in postoperative patients with osteoporotic fractures but also indirectly affects it through rehabilitation exercise self-efficacy. Clinical medical staff should adopt targeted interventions to alleviate psychological pain and enhance rehabilitation exercise self-efficacy, thereby improving patients' quality of life.

Objective:To describe the distribution of fat-free mass (FFM) and fat-free mass index (FFMI) in children aged 3-17 years in China.Methods:Data were collected from National Nutrition and Health Systematic Survey in 0-18 years old children in China. By using multi-stage stratified randomized cluster sampling method, the project was conducted in 28 survey points in urban and rural areas in 14 provinces (autonomous regions and municipalities) in 7 regions in China from 2019 to 2021. FFM was measured using bioelectrical impedance meter. Finally, the body composition data of 70 853 children were included in the analysis. M ( Q1, Q3) was used to describe the gender and age specific FFM and FFMI of the children in different regions. Kruskal-Wallis H rank sum test was used to compare FFM and FFMI of boys and girls in same age group, boys in different age groups, girls in different age groups, as well as boys in same age group and girls in same age group in different regions. DSCF method was used for pairwise comparisons. Results:After the age of 11 years, the difference of FFMI between boys and girls increased year by year. The FFMI was 14.2 kg/m 2 in boys and 13.8 kg/m 2 in girls at 11 years old, the difference was significant ( χ2=135.86, P<0.001). The difference of FFMI between boys and girls exceed 1.0 kg/m 2 from 12 years old, and FFMI was 15.3 kg/m 2 in boys and 14.2 kg/m 2 in girls at 12 year old, the difference was significant ( χ2=597.27, P<0.001). The FFMI was 17.5 kg/m 2 in boys and 14.7 kg/m 2 in girls at 16 years old, the difference was significant ( χ2=2 543.60, P<0.001). The FFMI was higher in boys in northeast China, while the FFMI was lower in both boys and girls in northwest China. Conclusions:Gender specific difference was observed in the increase of FFMI with age. The FFMI was significantly higher in boys than in girls after 11 years old. It is necessary to pay attention to the problem of FFM in children in northeastern and northwestern China.
