Background and purpose:There are few studies on the quality of life after transanal total mesorectal excision(TaTME)for rectal cancer, and there is a lack of evidence-based research. This study aimed to evaluate the impact of TaTME in comparison to laparoscopic total mesorectal excision(LaTME)on postoperative quality of life in patients. Methods:A retrospective analysis was conducted on clinical and pathological data from rectal cancer patients who underwent LaTME and TaTME between September 2019 and September 2022 at Renhe Hospital,Baoshan District,Shanghai, and Fudan University Shanghai Cancer Center. All the patients completed a set of validated questionnaires one year postoperatively, including the EORCT QLQ-C30,Low Anterior Resection Syndrome(LARS)score,International Prostate Symptom Score(IPSS),Generalized Anxiety Disorder-7(GAD-7),and Patient Health Questionnaire-9(PHQ-9).Comparative analysis of these survey results was performed. The study was approved by the Ethics Committee of Renhe Hospital,Baoshan District,Shanghai. The Strengthening the Reporting of Observational Studies in Epidemiology(STROBE)checklist was followed for this study. Results:A total of 39 patients in the TaTME group and 38 patients in the LaTME group were included. There were no statistically significant differences between two groups regarding demographic variables such as gender and age,as well as clinical factors including tumor distance from the anal verge, tumor stage, and preoperative neoadjuvant treatment protocols.Analysis of EORCT QLQ-C30 results indicated equivalent overall quality of life between the two groups;however, the TaTME group reported significantly more severe insomnia(P=0.020).No significant differences were observed in LARS severity or total scores between the groups, though the TaTME group demonstrated superior functional outcomes in terms of incontinence for liquid stools and clustering of stools(P=0.007,P=0.004).Additionally,both groups exhibited comparable results in IPSS,and levels of depression and anxiety. Conclusion:The findings suggest that TaTME and LaTME yield similar outcomes in terms of anal and urinary function, overall quality of life, and psychological health, indicating that it is a viable and safe alternative to LaTME in terms of postoperative quality of life.

Objective:To discuss the composition and connotation of practical training objectives for nurses specialized in intravenous therapy, and provide guidance and reference for standardizing the practical training of nurses specialized in intravenous therapy. Methods:In this phenomenological analysis in qualitative research, 13 intravenous treatment and nursing experts from Shandong, Zhejiang, Sichuan, and Shaanxi provinces were selected from May to July 2021 for semi-structured interviews. Colaizzi's 7-step method and Nvivo 12.0 were used to organize data and analyze and refine themes. Results:Three themes and 12 subthemes were extracted for the practical training of intravenous therapy nurses, including knowledge objectives, ability objectives, and well-rounded objectives. Conclusions:Attention should be paid to the setting of clinical professional knowledge, skills and comprehensive quality goals for nurses specialized in intravenous therapy, so as to improve the pertinence and timeliness of training, promote the quality of training and the professional development of specialized training for intravenous therapy.

Objective To investigate the role of protein O-linked mannose β1,2-N-acetylglucosaminyltransferase 1 (POMGnT1) in the pathogenic process of Alzheimer's disease (AD).Methods The expression of POMGnT1 gene was examined in AD model cells (N2a/amyloid-precursor protein (APP) 695swe,n=3) and N2a/wt cells (n=3) using real-time PCR and Western blotting. This expression was also examined in AD model mice (APP/PS1,n=3) and wild-type mice (n=3) using immunofluorescence staining.Amyloid β-protein (Aβ) were examined in POMGnT1-gene-knockout mice (n=3) and wild-type mice (n=3) using immunochemistRy.Results The expression of POMGnT1 gene decreased in mRNA and protein levels in N2a/APP695swe cells compared to N2a/wt cells (mRNA:0.80±0.02 vs 1.00,t=10.52,P<0.01;protein:0.50±0.02 vs 1.31±0.04,t=18.64,P<0.01).Immunofluorescence results showed the reduced expression of POMGnT1 protein in neurons of APP/PS1 mice.Immunochemistry results showed more Aβ deposits in POMGnT1-gene-knockout mice (2 months old:0.358±0.014 vs 0.048±0.001,t=22.58,P<0.01;1 year old:0.266±0.004 vs 0.229±0.003,t=7.771,P=0.002).Conclusion These findings suggest POMGnT1 gene may play an important role in the pathogenic process of AD.

Objective To discuss the influence of the doctor-nurse whole course medical mode on the satisfaction of ICU patients ’ family members. Methods Totals of 200 patients ’ family members were investigated before and after the implementation of the doctor-nurse whole course medical mode. The satisfaction was evaluated before and after the usage of the doctor-nurse whole course medical mode. Results The satisfaction of patients’ family members on nurses before and after the doctor-nurse whole course medical mode was 89.5%and 97.0%, respectively. There was a significant difference (χ2 =8.937,P=0.003).The mean scores of nurses work initiative, nursing technology, service attitude, health education, ward management were (8.43 ±1.30), (8.39 ±1.29), (5.51 ±0.99), (8.26 ±1.64), (5.54 ±1.04) before and (8.94 ± 0.37), (8.85 ±0.70), (5.97 ±0.26), (8.95 ±0.31), (5.95 ±0.31) after the doctor-nurse whole course medical mode. There were significant differences (t=5.336, 4.423, 6.356, 5.847, 5.343, respectively;P<0.01 ) .Conclusions Implementation of the doctor-nurse whole course medical mode can improve the professional quality of nurses and increase the patients’ families satisfaction to nurses job.
