Objective To explore whether there is a causal relationship between intestinal flora and esophageal cancer. Methods Summary statistics of intestinal flora and esophageal cancer were obtained from the Genome-wide Association Studies (GWAS) database. Five methods, including inverse variance weighted (IVW), weighted median estimation, Mendelian randomization (MR)-Egger regression, single mode, and weighted mode, were used for analysis, with IVW as the main analysis method. Sensitivity analysis was used to evaluate the reliability of MR results. Results In the IVW method, Oxalobacteraceae [OR=1.001, 95%CI (1.000, 1.002), P=0.023], Faecalibacterium [OR=1.001, 95%CI (1.000, 1.002), P=0.028], Senegalimassilia [OR=1.002, 95%CI (1.000, 1.003), P=0.006] and Veillonella [OR=1.001, 95%CI (1.000, 1.002), P=0.018] were positively correlated with esophageal cancer, while Burkholderiales [OR=0.999, 95%CI (0.998, 1.000), P=0.002], Eubacterium oxidoreducens [OR=0.998, 95%CI (0.997, 0.999), P=0.038], Romboutsia [OR=0.999, 95%CI (0.998, 1.000), P=0.048] and Turicibacter [OR=0.998, 95%CI (0.997, 0.999), P=0.013] were negatively correlated with esophageal cancer. Sensitivity analysis showed no evidence of heterogeneity, horizontal pleiotropy and reverse causality. Conclusion Oxalobacteraceae, Faecalibacterium, Senegalimassilia and Veillonella increase the risk of esophageal cancer, while Burkholderiales, Eubacterium oxidoreducens, Romboutsia and Turicibacter decrease the risk of esophageal cancer. Further studies are needed to explore how these bacteria affect the progression of esophageal cancer.

Background With the continuous development of the healthcare industry, healthcare workers face increasing pressure, including long-term shift work and workplace violence from patients or their relatives. This not only affects the physical and mental health of healthcare workers but may also negatively impact the quality of patient care and the efficiency of medical services. Objectives To analyze the pathways through which shift work and workplace violence affect healthcare workers' self-rated health and depression symptoms, explore potential mediating role of job burnout, and conduct subgroup analyses to reveal differences among various groups. Methods Data were collected from 3706 frontline healthcare workers across 23 provinces from January 10 to February 5, 2019, using a snowball sampling method. The survey included basic demographic information, self-rated health, depression symptoms [assessed using the Patient Health Questionnaire-2 (PHQ-2)], workplace violence experience assessed using the Workplace Violence Scale), and job burnout (assessed using the Chinese Maslach Burnout Inventory). Data were analyzed using logistic regression, structural equation modeling (for mediating effects), and subgroup analysis to examine the impacts of shift work and workplace violence on health and depression symptoms. Results Among the subjects, 2700 workers (73.29%) reported shift work experience, 2079 workers (56.43%) experienced workplace violence, 633 workers (17.18%) reported poor self-rated health, and 687 workers (18.65%) reported depression symptoms. Shift work was associated with self-rated health (OR=0.572, 95%CI: 0.461, 0.710) and depression symptoms (OR=1.519, 95%CI: 1.190, 1.938), while workplace violence also associated with self-rated health (OR=0.566, 95%CI: 0.471, 0.681) and depression symptoms (OR=2.096, 95%CI: 1.740, 2.525). Job burnout significantly mediated the effects of shift work and workplace violence on self-rated health (indirect effects: −0.023, −0.027) and depression symptoms (indirect effects: 0.032, 0.037) (all P < 0.001). The subgroup analysis revealed that age, marital status, physical exercise, smoking, and alcohol consumption influenced the impacts of shift work and workplace violence on health. Conclusion Shift work and workplace violence significantly affect healthcare workers' self-rated health and depression symptoms, with job burnout playing a key mediating role in this process. This suggests that healthcare institutions should improve resource allocation, provide flexible scheduling systems, ensure adequate rest time, and increase psychological support and safety measures to help healthcare workers better cope with work-related stress and violence.

AIM:To summarize the clinical features and prognostic factors of patients with open ocular trauma in northwest China, and to explore the application of ocular trauma score(OTS)in open ocular trauma.METHODS:The clinical data of 91 patients(91 eyes)with open ocular trauma admitted to Xijing Hospital from June 2021 to June 2023 were retrospectively analyzed. The correlation analysis of visual acuity prognosis was carried out by age, treatment time, initial visual acuity, trauma zone and other factors, and the relationship between different OTS and prognostic visual acuity was discussed.RESULTS:Univariate analysis showed that age(0-20 years), treatment time(<24 h), initial visual acuity, trauma zone, trauma type(penetrating injury), anterior chamber hematoma, vitreous hematoma were correlated with prognostic visual acuity(all P<0.1); multivariate Logistic regression analysis showed that initial visual acuity and treatment time(<24 h)were risk factors(both P<0.05). There was a significant correlation between different OTS and prognostic visual acuity(rs=0.639,P<0.001).CONCLUSION:Patients with open ocular trauma should be diagnosed and treated as early as possible. The main factors influencing the visual prognosis are age, treatment time, initial visual acuity, trauma zone, trauma type, anterior chamber hematoma and vitreous hematoma. OTS has good application value in visual acuity evaluation of open ocular trauma prognosis.

Objective To analyze the situation and study trend of large-scale nurses'health cohort studies based on Web of Science,to help design clinical guidelines and scientific research for nursing staff in China.Methods Articles of large nurses'health cohort studies published from 1993 to 2023 were retrieved from Web of Science(WOS)Core Collection.Citespace and Bibilometrix were used to perform the bibliometric analysis.Results 2882 studies were included in this study.Total volume of papers was enlarging by year.Clustering results showed that the main keywords could be divided into 3 categories:risks of women's health,risks of cardiovascular disease and reproducibility.Results of keywords burst showed that lifestyle,cardiovascular disease,women reproductive health and mental health were the highlights of studies in recent 5 years.Conclusion Research on large-scale nurse health cohorts holds significant scientific significance.It is recommended to establish a nationwide large-scale nurse health cohort as soon as possible.In the study,appropriate exposure factors should be selected,with reproductive health,mental health,and psychiatric disorders being the primary outcome measures,and chronic physical illnesses being the secondary outcome measures.By systematically describing the factors influencing the physical and mental health of nurses in China,we can better safeguard their well-being and promote the development of the nursing discipline.

AIM:To observe the clinical efficacy of vitrectomy at different times for open ocular trauma and explore the timing of stage Ⅱ vitrectomy.METHODS: Retrospective case series study. A total of 60 cases(60 eyes)with open ocular trauma who visited our ophthalmology department from June 2022 to February 2023 were included. They were divided into treatment group A(interval ≤14 d)and treatment group B(interval >14 d)based on the interval between the stage Ⅰ emergency treatment surgery and the stage Ⅱ vitreoretinal surgery. Among the 32 cases(32 eyes)in the treatment group A, 16 eyes(50%)had eyeball rupture, 13 eyes(41%)had penetrating injury, and 3 eyes(9%)had perforating injury. Among the 28 cases(28 eyes)in the treatment group B, 15 eyes(54%)had eyeball rupture, 12 eyes(43%)had penetrating injury, and one eye(4%)had perforating injury. The two groups of patients were followed-up for 6 mo after surgery, and the treatment effects were compared.RESULTS:There was no statistically significant difference in visual acuity between the two groups of patients before vitrectomy(P>0.05). In the treatment group A, 10 eyes(31%)had significantly improved visual acuity, 21 eyes(66%)had effectively enhanced visual acuity, and 1 eye(3%)had no improvement in visual acuity at 6 mo after surgery. Among the 28 eyes in the treatment group B, 5 eyes(18%)had significantly improved vision, 16 eyes(57%)had effectively enhanced vision, and 7 eyes(25%)had no change in vision, with statistically significant difference between the two groups(U=322.5, P=0.032). There was no significant difference between the treatment group A and the treatment group B in complications such as secondary glaucoma, silicone oil dependence, vitreous hemorrhage, and eyeball atrophy(P>0.05). There was no evidence of traumatic proliferative vitreoretinopathy(TPVR)in the treatment group A during postoperative follow-up, which was significantly lower than that of the treatment group B(P<0.05).CONCLUSION:The prognosis of the stage Ⅱ vitrectomy for open ocular injury is relatively good after completing the stage Ⅰ surgery within 2 wk.

Objective To analyze the refractive prediction error(PE)in combined vitrectomy,phacoemulsification,and intraocular lens(IOL)implantation for patients with macular disease and cataract.Methods This study encom-passed 96 patients(96 eyes)diagnosed with macular disease and cataract,who underwent combined vitrectomy,phacoe-mulsification and IOL implantation at the Department of Ophthalmology in Xijing Hospital,Air Force Military Medical Uni-versity from May 2014 to November 2022.The best corrected visual acuity(BCVA)and actual spherical equivalent(SE)were studied,PE and absolute refractive error(ARE)were calculated,and the correlations between PE and axial length(AL),anterior chamber depth(ACD),lens thickness(LT),flat keratometry(Kf),steep keratometry(Ks),mean kera-tometry(Km),corneal astigmatism degree(cylinder,Cyl),intraocular pressure(IOP),BCVA,corneal astigmatism axis,the classification of macular diseases,and the type of intraoperative vitreous fillers were analyzed.Results In the early postoperative period(within 3 days after surgery),no statistically significant disparity in BCVA was observed compared to preoperative data among the 96 patients studied(P＞0.05).The ARE was determined to be(1.47±2.54)D,indicating a substantial deviation between the actual SE and preoperative predictive refraction of the 96 patients(P＜0.05).Among them,61 patients had a myopic shift,35 patients had a hyperopic shift,and the values of PE were(-1.81±3.07)D and(0.87±0.96)D,respectively.At the 1-month mark after surgery,there was no statistically significant difference in BCVA compared to the preoperative data of 12 follow-up patients(P＞0.05).Similarly,no statistically significant differences were found between every two of the three data,namely the actual SE one month after surgery,the preoperative predictive refraction,and the actual SE in the early postoperative period of the 12 follow-up patients(all P＞0.05).Also,no disparity was observed in BCVA at the last follow-up(P＞0.05)among the 6 patients who were followed up for over 1 year(long-term postoperative follow-up).The correlation analysis revealed that,in the early postoperative period,the PE of patients with myopic shift was negatively correlated with both preoperative AL and Cyl measurements(both P＜0.05).The early postoperative PE of patients with myopic shift was associated with the diagnostic classification of macular diseases(P＜0.05),and the degree of myopic shift was observed to be significantly greater in patients with pathological myopia macular holes compared to those with other macular diseases(P＜0.05).Additionally,the early postoperative PE of patients with myopic shift was uncorrelated with preoperative ACD,TL,Kf,Ks,Km,IOP,BCVA,the type of intraoperative vitreous fillers and the corneal astigmatism axis(all P＞0.05).In contrast,for patients exhibiting hyperopic shift,the PE observed in the early postoperative period exhibited a positive correlation with preoperative Cyl(P＜0.05).PE was also correlated with the type of intraoperative vitreous fillers(P＜0.05),and the degree of hyperopic shift was notably enhanced when the intraoperative vitreous cavity was filled with silicone oil(P＜0.05).The PE of patients with hyperopic shift observed in the early postoperative period exhibited no correlation with preoperative AL,ACD,TL,Kf,Ks,Km,IOP,BCVA,the diagnos-tic classification of macular diseases or the astigmatism axis(all P＞0.05).Conclusion Refractive prediction error may occur in patients with macular disease and cataract in the initial postoperative period after the vitrectomy combined with phacoemulsification and IOL implantation,predominantly caused by myopic shift.However,over time,there is a signifi-cant reduction in the magnitude of this refractive error.The direction and extent of diopter drift appear to be influenced by preoperative AL,Cyl,the specific diagnosis of macular disease,and the type of vitreous cavity filler utilized in the surgical procedure.

Improving the reproducibility of biomedical research results is a major challenge.Transparent and accurate reporting of the research process enables readers to evaluate the reliability of the research results and further explore the experiment by repeating it or building upon its findings. The ARRIVE 2.0 guidelines, released in 2019 by the UK National Centre for the Replacement, Refinement and Reduction of Animals in Research (NC3Rs), provide a checklist applicable to any in vivo animal research report. These guidelines aim to improve the standardization of experimental design, implementation, and reporting, as well as the reliability, repeatability, and clinical translatability of animal experimental results. The use of ARRIVE 2.0 guidelines not only enriches the details of animal experimental research reports, ensuring that information on animal experimental results is fully evaluated and utilized, but also enables readers to understand the content expressed by the author accurately and clearly, promoting the transparency and integrity of the fundamental research review process. At present, the ARRIVE 2.0 guidelines have been widely adopted by international biomedical journals. This article is a Chinese translation based on the best practices of international journals following the ARRIVE 2.0 guidelines in international journals, specifically for the complete interpretation of the ARRIVE 2.0 guidelines published in the PLoS Biology journal in 2020 (original text can be found at https://arriveguidelines.org). The fourth part of the article includes the items 1-5 of ARRIVE 2.0 Recommended 11 section, which covers "Abstract" "Background" "Objectives" "Ethical statement" and "Housing and husbandry". Its aim is to promote the full understanding and use of the ARRIVE 2.0 guidelines by domestic researchers, enhance the standardization of experimental animal research and reporting, and promote the high-quality development of experimental animal technology and comparative medicine research in China.

OBJECTIVES: Health workers are at risk of workplace violence, which can seriously affects their mental health and work status. This study aims to explore the mediating role of depression between workplace violence and job burnout among healthcare workers. METHODS: From January 10 to February 5, 2019, a questionnaire was distributed to frontline healthcare workers through the wenjuanxing platform using convenient sampling (snowball sampling). The questionnaire included the Chinese version of the Workplace Violence Scale, Maslach Burnout Inventory, and Patient Health Questionnaires (PHQ-2). Descriptive statistics, correlation analysis, and mediation model tests were conducted on the cross-sectional data collection. RESULTS: The study included 3 684 participants, with (31.63±7.69) years old. Among them 2 079(56.43%) were experienced workplace violence, 687(18.65%) were screened positive for depression, and 2 247(60.99%) were experienced high levels of occupational burnout. Correlation analysis showed positive association between workplace violence and depression, workplace violence and occupational burnout, depression and occupational burnout (r=0.135, r=0.107, r=0.335, respectively, all P<0.001). After controlling for covariates, workplace violence had an indirect effect on occupational burnout through depression, with a standardized coefficient of 0.25 (SE=0.02, 95% CI 0.21 to 0.28), accounting for 13.87% of the total effect. CONCLUSIONS The study highlights the close relationship between workplace violence, depression, and occupational burnout among healthcare workers, with depression acting as a mediator between workplace violence and occupational burnout. This study suggests that it is necessary to improve the communication skills of healthcare workers, increase the installation of security systems and emergency plans, use new media platforms to convey positive energy between doctors and patients, and open channels for medical consultation and complaints. It is also necessary to provide guidance for healthcare workers' depressive emotions. Addressing depression among health care workers will help reduce the harm caused by workplace violence, protect the physical and mental health of healthcare workers, and reduce work burnout.

Objective:The nasal swell body（NSB） consists of the nasal septal cartilage, nasal bone, and swollen soft tissue, all of which are visible during endoscopic and imaging examinations. Although the function of the NSB remains uncertain, there is evidence to suggest that it plays a vital role in regulating nasal airflow and filtering inhaled air. Based on anatomical and histological evidence, it is hypothesized that the NSB is indispensable in these processes. This study aims to investigate the impact of NSB on nasal aerodynamics and the deposition of allergen particles under physiological conditions. Methods:The three-dimensional （3D） nasal models were reconstructed from computed tomography （CT） scans of the paranasal sinus and nasal cavity in 30 healthy adult volunteers from Northwest China, providing basis for the construction of models without NSB following virtual NSB-removal surgery. To analyze the distribution of airflow in the nasal cavity, nasal resistance, heating and humidification efficiency, and pollen particle deposition rate at various anatomical sites, we employed the computed fluid dynamics（CFD） method for numerical simulation and quantitative analysis. In addition, we created fully transparent segmented nasal cavity models through 3D printing, which were used to conduct bionic experiments to measure nasal resistance and allergen particle deposition. Results:①The average width and length of the NSB in healthy adults in Northwest China were （12.85±1.74） mm and （28.30±1.92） mm, respectively. ②After NSB removal, there was no significant change in total nasal resistance, and cross-sectional airflow velocity remained essentially unaltered except for a decrease in topical airflow velocity in the NSB plane. ③There was no discernible difference in the nasal heating and humidification function following the removal of the NSB; ④After NSB removal, the deposition fraction（DF） of Artemisia pollen in the nasal septum decreased, and the DFs post-and pre-NSB removal were（22.79±6.61）% vs （30.70±12.27）%, respectively; the DF in the lower airway increased, and the DFs post-and pre-NSB removal were（24.12±6.59）% vs （17.00±5.57）%, respectively. Conclusion:This study is the first to explore the effects of NSB on nasal airflow, heating and humidification, and allergen particle deposition in a healthy population. After NSB removal from the healthy nasal cavities: ①nasal airflow distribution was mildly altered while nasal resistance showed no significantly changed; ②nasal heating and humidification were not significantly changed; ③the nasal septum's ability to filter out Artemisia pollen was diminished, which could lead to increased deposition of Artemisia pollen in the lower airway.
