AIM: To characterize the current status, research hotspots, and evolutionary differences in clinical studies on amblyopia published in Chinese and English from 2015 to 2025, and to provide a reference for the clinical diagnosis and treatment as well as relevant research of amblyopia.METHODS: Clinical studies on amblyopia in both Chinese and English were retrieved from the CNKI, VIP, Wanfang and Web of Science(WoS)databases. Bibliometric and visualization analyses of publication output, institutions, authors, and keywords were conducted using Cite Space 6.4.R1 and VOS viewer 1.6.19.RESULTS: Totally 1 302 publications were included, comprising 920 Chinese and 382 English publications. The publications of Chinese literature declined after 2019, while that of English literature showed an upward trend. Relevant studies involved 18 countries, and the institutional cooperation connections of English literature were relatively closer. The core author cooperation networks of both Chinese and English literature presented multi-cluster distribution. A total of 360 and 283 keyword nodes were obtained from Chinese and English literature, respectively. The high-frequency keywords of both literatures covered four aspects, including amblyopia types, research populations, evaluation indicators, and treatment methods. Both Chinese and English studies focus on anisometropic and strabismic amblyopia. Chinese studies predominantly investigated children of different age groups, whereas adult amblyopia received earlier attention in the English literature. Visual acuity, contrast sensitivity, and stereopsis were the major outcome measures of common interest, while optical correction and occlusion therapy remained the mainstay treatments. Totally 19 and 13 keyword clusters were identified in the Chinese and English literatures, respectively. Burst analysis indicated that digital treatment such as binocular dichoptic training appeared relatively early in English literature. In recent years, quality of life and risk factor screening for amblyopia received increasing attention. In Chinese literature, growing focus was placed on digital visual training and traditional Chinese medicine intervention. In addition, neuroimaging evaluation based on resting-state functional magnetic resonance imaging was conducted much earlier in English studies.CONCLUSION:From 2015 to 2025, Chinese and English clinical research on amblyopia has shown diversified development, with substantial similarities in the major types of amblyopia investigated, visual function assessment, and basic treatment modalities, but differences in the timing and emphasis of some research hotspots. Clinical research on amblyopia is gradually expanding from improvement in visual acuity toward restoration of binocular visual function, multidimensional outcome assessment, and investigation of visual neural mechanisms, while treatment strategies are becoming increasingly digitalized and individualized. Future research should further optimize standardized treatment, strengthen investigations into adult amblyopia, binocular digital vision training, visual neural mechanisms, and multidimensional outcome assessment, and evaluate the clinical value of integrated traditional Chinese and Western medicine interventions through high-quality clinical studies.

As a traditional nutritional and healthy cash crop in China, tea has certain significance in promoting human health and preventing and controlling chronic diseases. Studies have shown that the nutritional health effect of tea is due to its rich functional components, mainly including tea polyphenols, tea pigments, tea polysaccharides, theanine, alkaloids and other bioactive substances. At present, researchers from the academic circles have continuously carried out animal and human experiments on the health effects of various functional components of tea, which has accumulated abundant research data and materials. Based on this, this article reviews the literature on the nutritional and health effects of the main functional components of tea, and adopts the method of evidence-based research to screen and extract relevant data for qualitative and quantitative meta-analysis. Subsequently, the nutritional health effects of the five functional components of tea, namely tea polyphenols, tea pigments, tea polysaccharides, theanine, and alkaloids, are summarized and outlined. Studies have shown that tea polyphenols, tea pigments, tea polysaccharides, theanine and alkaloids have different health effects and are expected to play their unique roles in promoting human health and preventing and controlling diseases.

Objective:To compare the clinical efficacy and effects on cognitive function of magnetic seizure therapy (MST) and modified electroconvulsive therapy (MECT) in the treatment of major depressive episode (MDE).Methods:From January 1, 2019 to December 31, 2021, 40 patients who met the MDE diagnostic criteria in the fifth edition of the Diagnostic Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM-5) were selected in Shanghai Mental Health Center. Participants were randomly assigned to MECT therapy group (20 patients) and MST therapy group (20 patients) using the random number table method. Both groups received MECT or MST while using serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs), 3 times a week for 4 weeks. The 17-items Hamilton Depression Rating Scale (HAMD 17) and the Repeatable Battery for the Assessment of Neuropsychological Status (RBANS) were performed before and after treatment. HAMD 17 reduction rate and effective rate were the main assessment indicators, while RBANS total score and factor scores were considered as the secondary assessment indicators. T-test was used to compare the reduction rate of HAMD 17 between the two groups, and corrected Chi-square test or Fisher′s exact probability method was used to compare the effective rate of treatment between the two groups. HAMD 17 scores and RBANS scores before and after treatment were compared using two-factor repeated measure ANOVA. Results:There were no significant differences in baseline HAMD 17 scores and RBANS scores between 2 groups( t=0.29, P=0.773; t=0.67, P=0.509). The treatment effective rate in the MECT group was 90% (18/20), and the average reduction rate of HAMD 17 was 67.9%. Meanwhile, the effective rate of MST group was 75% (15/20), and the average reduction rate of HAMD 17 was 60.9%. There was no significant difference in the reduction rate and effective rate of HAMD 17 between the two groups ( t=0.69, P=0.493; χ2=0.16, P=0.693). The total scores and factor scores of RBANS after treatment were lower than those before treatment, with statistical significance(total scores: F=19.29, P<0.001;immediate memory score: F=6.22, P=0.020; language function score: F=9.13, P=0.006;attention score: F=5.23, P=0.031;delayed memory score: F=35.90, P<0.001). There was no significant difference in the total scores and factor scores of RBANS before and after treatment in MST group(total scores: F=0.49, P=0.490;immediate memory score: F=2.25, P=0.147;language function score: F=1.22, P=0.280;attention score: F=0.23, P=0.640;delayed memory score: F=0.02, P=0.887). Conclusions:The efficacy of MST treatment and MECT treatment in treating MDE patients seems to be comparable. MDE patients receiving MST had less impact on cognitive function compared to those treated with MECT.
