Objective:A C57/BL6 mouse model of traumatic temporomandibular joint ankylosis (TTMJA) was established through composite trauma to lay the foundation for studying the pathophysiology of TTMJA.Methods:This study was conducted from January 2024 to February 2025. Forty-two 4-weeks old C57/BL6 mice, numbered 1 to 42, are randomly assigned to a control group ( n=21) and an experimental group ( n=21) using a computer-generated random number sequence. The experimental group undergoes modeling surgery on the left temporomandibular joint (TMJ), while the control group is routinely raised without special treatment. At 12 weeks post-surgery, the TMJ complex of both groups is assessed via body weight and mouth opening measurements, gross observation, micro-CT, and histological staining to evaluate model establishment. Results:At 12 weeks post-operation, in the experimental group, the body weight of mice [(27.75±1.08) g] did not show a significant difference compared with that of the control group [(30.80±0.29) g]( t=0.54, P=0.610). The maximum vertical passive mouth opening [(1.70±0.26) mm] in the experimental group was significantly lower than that in the control group [(3.43±0.21) mm]( t=8.92, P<0.001). Gross observation indicated that the right TMJ structure of the experimental-group mice was normal, while irregular hyperplasia occurred in the left TMJ complex. Micro-CT revealed that at 12 weeks post-operation, the right joint structure of the experimental-group mice was normal, with regular condyles and glenoid fossae. On the left side, a large amount of bone hyperplasia occurred on the lateral side of the joint in the condyles and glenoid fossae, forming two irregular bone masses, and there was an uncalcified radiolucent zone between the bone masses. In histological staining, no new cartilage or bone tissue was observed in the left joint space of the control-group mice, and the articular disc structure was normal. In the experimental-group mice, obvious new cartilage and calcified bone tissue were visible on the lateral side of the left joint space. A bone bridge was formed between the condyles and glenoid fossae, the articular disc structure disappeared, and bony ankylosis occurred. Conclusions:In this experiment, a TTMJA model of C57/BL6 mice was initially established by removing the articular disc and damaging part of the fibrous cartilage of the glenoid fossae and condyles, providing an experimental platform for further research on the pathogenesis of TTMJA.

Objective:To explore the feasibility of the new auxiliary analysis software in chromosomal aberration analysis of radiation workers during occupational health examinations.Methods:Health examination data of 2 469 radiation workers in Henan province were collected. Manual analysis of chromosomal aberrations in peripheral blood lymphocytes was conducted using the new auxiliary software and the Ikaros software. Then, the chromosomal aberrations detected using both software tools were compared.Results:The new auxiliary software yielded a lower chromosomal aberration rate among radiation workers compared with the Ikaros software [(0.314 ± 0.014)% vs. (0.391 ± 0.022)%, χ2 = 9.24, P = 0.002]. Notably, the new auxiliary software yielded a significantly lower rate of acentric fragments (ace) [(0.136 ± 0.009)% vs. (0.209 ± 0.020)%, χ2= 17.76, P < 0.001]. However, no statistically significant differences were observed between the result of the two software tools in the rates of dicentrics plus rings (dic + r) and translocations ( P > 0.05). According to the GBZ/T 248-2014 standard, the differences in abnormality rates of chromosomal aberrations between the two groups had no statistically significance ( P > 0.05), with both groups showing an abnormality rate of 0 for ace. Furthermore, the new auxiliary software could double the detection efficiency. Among pre-service radiation workers of various occupations, the differences in the chromosomal aberrations detected using the two software tools exhibited statistical significance ( χ2 = 10.26, P = 0.001). In contrast, the differences in the chromosomal aberrations among in-service and post-service radiation workers had no statistically different significance ( P>0.05). The Poisson regression analysis result demonstrated that the rate of chromosomal aberrations excluding ace was affected by age ( z = 2.73, P = 0.006), while gender, analysis method, service status, and occupation had no impact. Conclusions:The two software tools yielded largely consistent result in detecting chromosomal aberrations induced by exposure to ionizing radiation. Notably, the new auxiliary software can significantly improve detection efficiency, indicating the feasibility of applying it to chromosomal aberration analysis among radiation workers.

Under the backdrop of the "Healthy China 2030" strategy, running has become the most common form of exercise. Fitness running is a kind of endurance aerobic exercise. Compared with swimming, aerobics, and other sports with high activity and intensity, the risk of lower limb fatigue injury during fitness running is higher. In this review paper, the risk factors for running-related injuries were summarized by consulting and analyzing the database and focuses on discussing and analyzing the impact of running on joints. The results showed that hip adduction, knee bending, and ankle joint abnormalities are the three joint-related factors that cause the main injuries during running. Four rehabilitation intervention methods for running-related injuries were proposed, that can guide patients to generate personalized rehabilitation treatment plans through training.

In order to accurately master and understand the national occupational health standard Diagnosis for Occupational Radiation Thyroid Disease(GBZ 101-2020), the significance of the publication of this standard, the relevant background, the basic principles of the revision, the main basis for technical content revision, and the application of the standard are described. To provide guidance for t the physcians for occupational disease diagnosiss to understand the diagnostic principles, make correct diagnosis and avoid confusion in using the standard, so as to better protect the occupational health rights of radiation workers.

Objective:To investigate chromosomal aberrations in peripheral blood lymphocytes of underground miners, in order to explore the influencing factors involved in chromosomal aberration levels of non-uranium metal mines.Methods:Totall 135 workers were recruited from an iron mine and a gold mine located in different cities of Henan province, where 69 workers worked aboveground and 66 miners worked underground in the metal mines. The radon concentration in the mines was measured by solid-state nuclear track detectors. Chromosomal aberrations in peripheral blood lymphocytes from the subjects were detected using conventional analysis method, and the influence factors of chromosomal aberrations were analyzed.Results:Radon concentration was 30-2 943 Bq/m 3 in the aboveground workplace of the mines, and 62-28 314 Bq/m 3 in underground. The age of the underground group was obviously lower than that of the aboveground group( t=2.12, P<0.05), but the frequencies of dicentrics, translocation, acentric fragment, and total chromosome-type aberrations in the underground group were significantly higher than those in the aboveground group ( χ2=10.49, 16.74, 8.15, 29.50, P<0.01). Consistent results were obtained when only male workers were regarded as object of observation ( χ2=8.44, 11.63, 4.94, 20.81, P<0.05). The frequency of translocation ( χ2=8.44, P<0.05) was dependent on the length of service in the underground group. Poisson regression analysis indicated that the aboveground and undergroud grouping partly affected the levels of dicentrics, translocation, acentric fragment, and total chromosome-type aberrations (the underground group IRR=3.25, 2.69, 1.97, 2.18, P<0.05). Conclusions:The radon exposure in the underground workplace of the metal mines may be the main factor resulting in the increase of chromosome-type aberrations of miners. The occupational health and safety of the miners who may be exposed to high radon levels are worthy of great attention.

Objective:To investigate the effect of irradiation on the expression of miR-150-5p and miR-23a-3p in human peripheral blood serum by collecting peripheral blood of tumor patients before and after radiotherapy, so as to provide scientific basis for finding radiation biomarkers.Methods:A total of 63 tumor patients treated with radiotherapy from October 2021 to March 2022 were enrolled in this study. The relative expression levels of miR-150-5p and miR-23a-3p in peripheral blood serum in these patients were detected using the real-time fluorescence quantitative PCR (qPCR) before and after radiotherapy. The differential changes in the expression levels of the two miRNAs in the peripheral blood serum of the patients before and after radiotherapy were compared, and their relationships with factors such as cancer types were analyzed.Results:The relative expression levels of miR-150-5p and miR-23a-3p in peripheral blood serum of the patients after radiotherapy were significantly lower than those before radiotherapy ( t = 4.97, Z = -2.77, P < 0.05). Among different cancer types, the relative expression level of miR-150-5p in the patients with breast cancer, esophageal cancer, or other digestive tract cancer decreased after radiotherapy ( t = 3.47, 2.47, 2.87, P < 0.05), and the relative expression level of miR-23a-3p in the patients with digestive tract cancer decreased after radiotherapy ( Z = -1.99, P < 0.05). The changes in the expression level of miR-150-5p before and after radiotherapy were not affected by gender, age, chemotherapy, and cancer type ( P > 0.05). By contrast, the changes in the expression level of miR-23a-3p before and after radiotherapy were significantly affected by gender, age, and chemotherapy ( t=2.04, -3.34, -2.29, P<0.05). Conclusions:The expression of miR-150-5p in the serum of tumor patients may be affected by radiotherapy, which has the potential to be used as a biological indicator of radiation.

The application of chromosome translocation to retrospective biodosimetry for A-bomb survivors, the victims previously exposed to nuclear/ radiation accident has experienced nearly 40 years of development. Retrospective biodosimetry was internationally paid close attention to radiation workers, exposed atomic veterans and medical exposure subjects, respectively, along with the development of molecular cytogenetic technology such as mFISH and cGH. And the remarkable breakthrough and progress have been made in recent years. This paper reviews the progress of translocation indicator as retrospective biodosimetry for the subjects, in order to provide a reference for retrospective dose estimation based on translocation analysis.

Parental exposure to ionizing radiation (IR) can induce mutation in germline that may lead to genome instability, chromosomal aberrations, sex ratio variations, increased cancer susceptibility, and even increased probability of birth defects among their offspring, which substantially increase the burden of hereditary diseases. Up to now, the hereditary effect of IR has been observed in a number of species, but there is lack of evidence in humans. With reference to related studies in China and globally, this article reviews the human epidemiological studies of the hereditary effect of IR and briefly discusses why the hereditary effect of IR is not obvious in humans, so as to provide a reference for future assessment of the hereditary effect of radiation in China.
