Chinese Journal of School Health 2026;47(3):347-350
Objective:
To understand the awareness of chikungunya fever knowledge and its related factors among medical college students in Baise City, so as to provide a scientific basis to offer relevant courses and special education.
Methods:
From July to August 2025, 7 286 enrolled medical students were selected by a sampling method from a medical college in Baise City to participate in the questionnaire survey. The questionnaire covered epidemiological characteristics, clinical symptoms, and prevention/control knowledge of chikungunya fever. Statistical analyses including the Chi quare test and multivariate Logistic regression models were performed.
Results:
The overall awareness rate of chikungunya fever knowledge among the medical students was 18.89%. Among the knowledge items, the awareness rate of "the high incidence season" was the highest (84.05%), while that of "the infectious period" was the lowest (17.80%). Multivariate Logistic regression analysis showed that medical students with female (a OR= 1.37 , 95%CI =1.20- 1.57 ), the age for over 25 years old (a OR=1.76, 95%CI =1.05-2.93), whose father had a middle school educational level (a OR=1.18, 95%CI =1.05-1.31), and majored in preventive medicine (a OR=1.54, 95%CI =1.10-1.67) had relatively higher awareness rates of chikungunya fever knowledge (all P <0.05). In contrast, students of Zhuang ethnicity (a OR= 0.87 , 95%CI =0.76-0.98) and majoring in nursing (a OR=0.74, 95%CI =0.61-0.91) or pharmacy (a OR=0.70, 95%CI =0.52-0.95) had relatively lower awareness rates (all P <0.05).
Conclusions
The awareness rate of chikungunya fever related knowledge among medical college students in Baise City is relatively low. Schools should take targeted publicity measures to improve medical students awareness.

Objective To identify immune cell-related biomarkers in lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD) using weighted gene co-expression network analysis (WGCNA). Methods Based on data from The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) database, a gene co-expression network was constructed for the TCGA-LUAD dataset using the "WGCNA" R package, and genes were clustered into different modules. Concurrently, the Estimation of STromal and Immune cells in MAlignant Tumours using Expression data (ESTIMATE) algorithm was applied to the tumor samples in the TCGA-LUAD dataset. Gene Ontology (GO) and Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG) pathway enrichment analyses were performed to evaluate the biological functions of genes within the most significantly correlated module. Candidate hub genes from the key module were intersected with a protein-protein interaction (PPI) network to identify the final hub genes. The prognostic performance of these hub genes and their correlation with immune cell infiltration were validated using Kaplan-Meier curves and the Tumor IMmune Estimation Resource (TIMER) algorithm. Finally, a multivariate Cox regression analysis was conducted on the identified hub genes to construct a prognostic risk model. Results In the co-expression network, the brown module was found to be highly correlated with the ImmuneScore, StromalScore, and ESTIMATE Score. Five immune-related hub genes were identified: CD53, PLEK, SPI1, IL10RA, and C3AR1. Enrichment analysis of the brown module revealed that its genes were primarily enriched in GO terms such as "regulation of innate immune response" and KEGG pathways like the "NF-kappa B signaling pathway". Furthermore, the expression levels of these five hub genes were significantly and positively correlated with the infiltration abundance of various immune cells. The immune relevance of the model was validated by the Immunophenoscore (IPS) and the Tumor Immune Dysfunction and Exclusion (TIDE) score. Moreover, the established RiskScore demonstrated significant potential in predicting the response to immunotherapy. Conclusion These five immune-related key genes may serve as novel and effective potential therapeutic targets for LUAD immunotherapy, facilitating the development of personalized diagnosis and treatment strategies for patients with LUAD.

ObjectiveTo explore the mechanism by which Qiangjing tablets (QJT) alleviate the spermatogenic function damage caused by varicocele (VC) based on the Kelch-like ECH-associated protein 1 (Keap1)/nuclear factor erythroid 2-related factor 2 (Nrf2) signaling pathway-mediated oxidative stress. MethodsTen Sprague-Dawley (SD) rats were randomly assigned into a control group and a model group. Pathological examination confirmed the stability of the model. Thirty-six SD rats were randomized into control, model, low-dose (0.23 g·kg-1) QJT, medium-dose (0.46 g·kg-1) QJT, high-dose (0.92 g·kg-1) QJT, and mazhilin (61.7 mg·kg-1) groups, with 6 rats in each group. A rat model of experimental left varicocele (ELV) was established by partially ligating the left renal vein to simulate the human nutcracker syndrome. The rats were administrated with corresponding agents once a day for 28 consecutive days. The in vitro testicular culture model of rats was established through the Transwell chamber method and intervened with QJT-containing sera (2.3, 4.6, and 9.2 g·kg-1). Microscopic observation was carried out for the morphology of the left kidney. A micrometer was used to measure the diameter of the left spermatic vein (LSV). The body weights of rats were recorded weekly, and the epididymis and testis weights were measured. The pathological changes of the testicular tissue was observed via hematoxylin-eosin (HE) staining. The levels of testosterone (T) in the cell culture supernatant and reactive oxygen species (ROS) in the rat testicular tissue were measured by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Flow cytometry was employed to determine the ROS content. Immunohistochemical staining was conducted to analyze Keap1, Nrf2, 3β-hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase (3β-Hsd), GATA-binding protein-4 (Gata-4), and proto-oncogene receptor tyrosine kinase (C-kit). The ultrastructure of the tissue was observed by transmission electron microscopy (TEM). Cell apoptosis was detected by terminal deoxynucleotidyl transferase-mediated dUTP nick-end labeling (TUNEL) staining. The expression of Keap1, Nrf2, glutathione S-transferase α2 (Gsta2), glutathione S-transferase μ1 (Gstm1), heme oxygenase-1 (HO-1), quinone oxidoreductase 1 (Nqo1), and thioredoxin reductase 1 (Txnrd1) was quantified by Real-time quantitative polymerase chain reaction(Real-time PCR) and Western blot. ResultsCompared with the control group, the ROS content and the percentage of apoptotic cells in the model group were significantly increased (P<0.01), the T concentration was significantly decreased (P<0.01), the mRNA and protein expressions of Keap1 were significantly increased (P<0.01), and the mRNA and protein expressions of Nrf2, Gsta2, Gstm1, HO-1, Nqo1 and Txnrd1 were significantly decreased (P<0.05). Compared with the model group, the ROS content and the percentage of apoptotic cells in each dose group of the Qiangjing Tablets were significantly reduced (P<0.05), and the mRNA and protein expressions of Keap1 were significantly decreased (P<0.05), while the mRNA and protein expressions of Nrf2, Gsta2, Gstm1, HO-1, Nqo1 and Txnrd1 were significantly increased (P<0.05). ConclusionQJT improves sperm motility in the rat model of VC by modulating the Keap1/Nrf2 signaling pathway and reducing oxidative stress injury.

Chinese Journal of General Surgery 2025;34(7):1371-1381
Background and Aims:CNLC stage IIIb hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC)is often accompanied by extrahepatic metastases and carries a poor prognosis. The optimal treatment strategy for these patients remains controversial, and the role of local therapy lacks robust evidence. This study aimed to compare overall survival(OS)between patients receiving combined local and systemic therapy versus systemic therapy alone, and to assess the prognostic impact of oligometastatic status and the cumulative duration of no evidence of disease(NED).Methods:A retrospective analysis was conducted on 76 CNLC stage IIIb HCC patients treated at Xiangya Hospital from January 2017 to December 2023.Forty patients received systemic therapy plus local therapy(local therapy group),and 36 received systemic therapy alone(no local therapy group).OS was compared between the two groups.Subgroup analyses were performed for oligometastatic and non-oligometastatic patients to evaluate the benefit of local therapy. In the local therapy group, the correlation between cumulative NED duration and OS was also examined. Results:The 1-,2-,3-,and 5-year OS rates were 89.0%vs.66.7%,64.3%vs.25.6%,35.3%vs.8.7%,and 8.3%vs.0.0%for the local therapy and no local therapy groups, respectively, with a statistically significant difference(P=0.003).Among oligometastatic patients, the local therapy group had significantly better OS than the no local therapy group(P=0.008),whereas no significant difference was observed in non-oligometastatic patients(P>0.05).Multivariate analysis identified oligometastases as an independent prognostic factor(HR=2.213,P=0.045).In the local therapy group, cumulative NED duration was strongly correlated with OS(r=0.851,P<0.001).Local therapy was well tolerated, with no treatment-related deaths observed. Conclusion:For CNLC stage IIIb HCC patients with well-controlled intrahepatic disease, local therapy can significantly prolong survival, particularly in those with oligometastases.Achieving and maintaining NED may represent an important therapeutic goal in this patient population.

Chinese Journal of Modern Nursing 2025;31(13):1773-1782
Objective:To systematically evaluate the effect of virtual reality exercise training on gait performance in older adults. Methods:Randomized controlled trials on the rehabilitation effects of virtual reality exercise training on gait performance in older adults were electronically searched in PubMed, Embase, Cochrane Library, Web of Science, China National Knowledge Infrastructure, Wanfang Data, VIP, and China Biology Medicine disc. The search period was from establishing of the database to January 10, 2025. Version 2 of the Cochrane risk of bias tool for randomized trials (RoB 2) was used to evaluate the methodological quality of the included literature. Meta-analysis was performed using RevMan 5.4.Results:A total of 27 articles were included. Meta-analysis showed that the effect of virtual reality exercise on improving the functional walking ability of older adults was better than traditional exercise [ WMD=-0.83, 95% CI (-1.31, -0.36) , P<0.01]. However, virtual reality exercise did not improve step speed, stride length, step frequency, and dynamic gait indices in older adults ( P>0.05) . Subgroup analysis showed that virtual reality exercise was more effective than traditional exercise in improving step speed in older adults when the length of the weekly intervention was≥120 min [ SMD=0.48, 95% CI (0.04, 0.92) , P=0.03]. Conclusions:Virtual reality exercise training effectively improves walking ability in older adults but has no advantage in improving refined gait-related indicators. Future interventions in the form of virtual reality exercise training combined with traditional exercise rehabilitation are recommended for older adults.

Chinese Journal of Infectious Diseases 2025;43(1):24-30
Objective:To analyze the baseline characteristics and prognostic factors of Pneumocystis carinii pneumonia (PCP) in patients with liver diseases (LD), and to develop the nomogram prognosis model. Methods:The patients with liver diseases complicated with PCP (LD-PCP) who admitted to Beijing Youan Hospital, Capital Medical University from January 1st, 2021 to October 31st, 2024 were enrolled in this study. This study was a retrospective case-control study. Data were collected, including baseline characteristics at admission and clinical outcomes. Multivariate logistic regression analysis was employed to identify the independent risk factors of poor prognosis in LD-PCP patients. Subsequently, a nomogram was developed to construct the prognostic model. The performance of this model was evaluated using the receiver operater characteristic (ROC) curve and calibration curve. Results:A total of 61 patients with LD-PCP were enrolled, including 21 in the death group and 40 in the survival group. Multivariate logistic regression analysis revealed that co-infection with Aspergillus and elevated lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) levels were independent risk factors for mortality in patients with LD-PCP (odds ratio ( OR)=12.802, 95% confidence interval ( CI) 1.334 to 122.845, P=0.027; OR=1.009, 95% CI 1.002 to 1.016, P=0.014). The predictive value of prognostic model based on the nomogram was better evidenced by the ROC curve, which yielded an area under the curve (AUC) of 0.835 (95% CI 0.725 to 0.944), with the sensitivity of 71.4% and the specificity of 87.5%. The predictive accuracy of the model was further validated by the calibration curve, and the Brier value was 0.151, the model fitting line had a high degree of agreement with the standard reference line ( P=0.953). Conclusions:Co-infection with Aspergillus and LDH levels are independent risk factors for the poor prognosis of patients with LD-PCP. The prognosis model based on the nomogram has better predictive value and clinical practicality, which could identify high-risk patients in the early stage, and provide theoretical guidance on the patient management.

Objective:To investigate the efficacy of two types of micro-focused ultrasound devices combined with botulinum toxin type A (BoNT-A) injection for facial rejuvenation. Methods:A retrospective study was conducted, including 60 female patients aged 28-70 (41.3±7.9) years, who received facial rejuvenation treatment at the Department of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, Zhongnan Hospital of Wuhan University, from April 2023 to April 2024. Patients were divided into two groups based on the treatment method: the control group (received only micro-focused ultrasound treatment, n=30) and the combined group (received both micro-focused ultrasound and BoNT-A injection, n=30). Additionally, patients were further categorized into four subgroups based on the type of micro-focused ultrasound device used: Peninsula Microultra? (PM) device group ( n=15), Intelligent Ultrasound? (IU) device group ( n=15), PM device + BoNT-A injection group ( n=15), and IU device + BoNT-A injection group ( n=15). The severity of facial wrinkles was assessed using the wrinkle severity rating scale (WSRS), the Merz aesthetic scale (MAS), and the global aesthetic improvement scale (GAIS) at baseline and 6 months post-treatment. Adverse event rates were also recorded. Results:At 6 months post-treatment, the combined group showed significantly lower WSRS and MAS scores than the control group (both P<0.001). No significant differences were found between the PM and IU device groups, or between the PM + BoNT-A and IU + BoNT-A groups regarding WSRS and MAS scores (all P>0.05). Self-reported GAIS improvement was 56.7% (17/30) for the control group and 80.0% (24/30) for the combined group, with the combined group showing superior results ( P=0.015). The physician-assessed GAIS improvement was 70.0% (21/30) for the control group and 96.7% (29/30) for the combined group, again with the combined group showing superior results ( P=0.007). No significant differences were found in self-reported or physician-assessed GAIS improvement between the PM and IU device groups, or between the PM + BoNT-A and IU + BoNT-A groups (all P>0.05). No severe adverse reactions, such as blisters, scabbing, purpura, bruising, scarring, peripheral facial paralysis, allergies, muscle weakness, dysphagia, or dysphonia, were observed in any patient. Conclusion:The combination of micro-focused ultrasound and BoNT-A injection for facial rejuvenation is more effective than micro-focused ultrasound alone, while there are no significant differences in efficacy between the two micro-focused ultrasound devices.
