1.Effects of Shengmai Decoction on postoperative recovery and the anxiety and depression in breast cancer patients

Objective:To investigate the effects of Shengmai Decoction on postoperative recovery and the anxiety and depression in breast cancer patients after surgery.Methods:A prospective randomized controlled study was conducted. A total of 60 patients with breast cancer after operation in Dongzhimen Hospital, Beijing University of Chinese Medicine from October 2023 to July 2024 were selected, and all patients were divided into the Shengmai Decoction group and the control group according to the random number table method with 30 cases in each group. The Shengmai Decoction group was given the Shengmai Decoction 3 times per day (10 ml each time before meals) with continuous treatment for 7 d, and the patients in the control group drank 10 ml of water at the same time point. The scores of 40-item quality of recovery (QoR-40), traditional Chinese medicine syndrome, Pittsburgh sleep quality index (PSQI), self-rating anxiety scale (SAS), self-rating depression scale (SDS) before treatment and 7 d after treatment were compared and adverse reactions of the 2 groups were recorded.Results:All patients were female. In the Shengmai Decoction group, 17 patients (56.7%) underwent modified radical mastectomy and 13 patients (43.3%) underwent breast-conserving surgery with the age of (48±12) years; in the control group, 16 patients (53.3%) underwent modified radical mastectomy and 14 patients (46.7%) underwent breast-conserving surgery with the age of (51±12) years. There were no statistically significant differences in age, body mass index, surgery type, menopause, operation time, intraoperative blood loss and between the 2 groups (all P > 0.05). The difference in QoR-40 score before treatment between the 2 groups was not statistically significant ( P > 0.05). The emotional state score [(41.0±1.8) points vs. (38.0±2.7) points], psychological support score [(32.6±1.4) points vs. (30.3±1.5) points], and total score [(178.7±3.4) points vs. (170.1±3.9) points] of QoR-40 score in the Shengmai Decoction group were higher than those in the control group 7 d after treatment, and the differences were statistically significant ( t value was 5.21, 6.01, 9.04, all P < 0.05). The differences in the scores of traditional Chinese medicine syndrome, PSQI, SAS and SDS of both groups before treatment were not statistically significant (all P > 0.05). The scores of traditional Chinese medicine syndrome, PSQI, SAS and SDS of both groups 7 d after treatment were decreased compared with those before treatment, and the scores in the Shengmai Decoction group were lower than those in the control group, and the differences were statistically significant (all P < 0.05). The incidence of adverse reactions was 15.0% (2/30) and 10.0% (3/30) in the Shengmai Decoction group and the control group, respectively, and the difference was not statistically significant ( P > 0.05). Conclusions:Shengmai Decoction can enhance the postoperative sleep quality, improve anxiety and depression as well as the quality of postoperative recovery in patients with breast cancer.

Objective This study aimed to investigate the antimicrobial resistance profiles of bacterial strains isolated from pediatric intensive care units(PICU)in China for better antimicrobial therapy.Methods Clinical isolates were collected from 17 institutions,including tertiary care children's hospitals and pediatric department of tertiary general hospitals in China from January 1,2020 to December 31,2022.Antimicrobial susceptibility testing was carried out according to a unified protocol using Kirby-Bauer method or automated systems.Results were interpreted according to the breakpoints released by the Clinical and Laboratory Standards Institute(CLSI)in 2020.Results A total of 10 688 isolates were collected,including gram-positive organisms(39.2%)and gram-negative organisms(60.8%).The top three organisms were S.aureus(13.6%,1 453/10 688),A.baumannii(10.0%,1 067/10 688),and coagulase-negative Staphylococcus(9.9%,1 058/10 688).Multi-drug resistant organisms(MDROs)were very common in children.The prevalence of methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus(MRSA),carbapenem-resistant Enterobacterales(CRE),carbapenem-resistant E.coli,carbapenem-resistant K.pneumoniae(CRKP),carbapenem-resistant A.baumannii(CRAB),and carbapenem-resistant P.aeruginosa(CRPA)was 41.1%,19.4%,8.8%,30.9%,67.4%,and 28.8%,respectively.Overall,more than 50%of Enterobacteriales isolates were resistant to cephalosporins,while nearly 25%of Enterobacteriales isolates were resistant to carbapenems.MDROs were highly resistant to commonly used antibiotics.More than 80%of CRE and CRAB strains were resistant to all beta-lactam antibiotics.CRE and CRAB showed low resistance rates to tigecycline and polymyxin.CRPA showed lower resistance rates to piperacillin,beta-lactamase inhibitor combinations than the resistance rates to third and fourth generation cephalosporins.All of the Staphylococcus and Enterococcus isolates were susceptible to vancomycin and tigecycline.None of PRSP strains isolated from meningitis and nonmeningitis samples were resistant to rifampicin,vancomycin,or linezolid.The prevalence of β-lactamase-negative ampicillin-resistant(BLNAR)strains was 43.3%in Haemophilus influenzae.Conclusions MDROs were prevalent in PICU.It is necessary to establish an effective multidisciplinary team(MDT)to control the antimicrobial resistance.

Conclusions:Shengmai Decoction can enhance the postoperative sleep quality, improve anxiety and depression as well as the quality of postoperative recovery in patients with breast cancer.

5.Association of school bullying with the comorbidity of anxiety and depressive symptoms among middle school students in Anhui Province

Objective:
To understand the prevalence of school bullying and the comorbidity of anxiety and depressive symptoms among middle school students and their association, so as to provide a basis for developing related intervention strategies.
Methods:
From September to December 2023, a multistage random cluster sampling was employed to select 107 851 middle school students across 104 counties in Anhui Province. The Center for Epidemiological Studies Depression Scale (CES-D) and the Generalized Anxiety Disorder-7 (GAD-7) Scale were used to assess depressive and anxiety symptoms. Logistic regression analysis was utilized to examine the correlations between experiences of school bullying and the comorbidity of anxiety and depressive symptoms.
Results:
The findings revealed that 2.80% of middle school students had experienced school bullying in the past 30 days. Additionally, 27.03% exhibited potential symptoms of depression, 8.94% showed signs of anxiety symptom, and the comorbidity rate of anxiety and depressive symptoms was 8.04%. Logistic regression analysis showed that statistically significant correlations were identified between experiences of school bullying and increased risks of depressive symptoms (OR=6.42, 95%CI=5.93-6.94, P<0.01), anxiety symptoms (OR=5.94, 95%CI=5.47-6.44, P<0.01), and their comorbidity (OR=6.38, 95%CI=5.88-6.93, P<0.01). Compared with those who did not suffer from school bullying, junior high school students, ordinary senior high school students, vocational senior high school students, boys and girls who suffered from school bullying all had increased risks of comorbidity of anxiety and depressive symptoms (OR=7.25, 5.55, 4.80, 6.42, 6.27, P<0.01).
Conclusions
The study underscores the significant impact of school bullying on increasing the risk of comorbidity of anxiety and depressive symptoms among middle school students. It is important to pay attention to the psychological health of bullied students and implement timely psychological intervention measures.
6.Diffusion tensor imaging for brain damage of acute CO intoxication

Objective To investigate altered microstructural integrity in acute carbon monoxide(CO)intoxication by diffusion tensor imaging (DTI).Methods A total of 25 CO intoxication patients (5.0±1.44 post-intoxication)and 37 healthy volunteers matched with age, sex and educational level were involved and underwent DTI.The fractional anisotropy (FA)and apparent diffusion confficient (ADC) of total 26 regions of bilateral cerebellum,substantia nigra,hippocampus,white matter of frontal lobe,head of caudate nucleus,pallidum,thalamus, anterior limb of internal capsule,posterior limb of internal capsule,white matter of occipital lobe,white matter of parietal lobe,and genu of corpus callosum,splenium of corpus callosum were measured.Compared the patients against control for FA and ADC by paired t-test.Results FA of patients with CO intoxication decreased in bilateral pallidum,anterior limb of internal capsule,substantia nigra,right cerebellum,left below frontal white matter,right frontal white matter and genu of corpus callosum (P <0.05).ADC decreased in right substantia nigra,and left pallidum (P <0.05).ADC increased in right frontal white matter and bilateral occipital lobe white matter (P<0.05).Conclusion There is loss of microstructural integrity in acute CO intoxication,perhaps representing the underlying mechanism of delayed encephalopathy after carbon monoxide poisoning.
7.Influence of cryogenic treatment and age-hardening heat treatment on the corrosion behavior of a dental casting Ag-Pd alloy.

OBJECTIVEThe purpose of this study is to investigate the influence of cryogenic treatment and age-hardening heat treatment on the corrosion behavior of a dental casting Ag-Pd alloy.
METHODSA low gold content dental casting alloy composed of Ag-Pd-Cu-Au was prepared for this study. Corrosion test was performed according to ISO 10271:2001 dental metallie-corrosion test methods. Experimental specimens were casted according to a standard dental lost-wax casting procedure, treated with solution by heating the specimens to 900 degrees C, and immediately quenched in ice water. The specimens were then divided into four groups and subjected to heat treatment, cryogenic treatment, and heat treatment combined with cryogenic treatment. The specimens after the solution treatment were taken as control. The metallographic structures of the specimens were observed. The electrochemical parameters and the quantity of non-precious metallic ions released were evaluated via electrochemical and static immersion tests.
RESULTSMetallographic observation revealed that all the treatments resulted in a change in the microstructure of the alloy. The treatments were effective in improving the electrochemical parameters, such as an increase in Eocp and Ecorr and a decrease in Icorr (P < 0.05). The amount of non-noble metal ions released showed no difference compared with the control group (P > 0.05).
CONCLUSIONAfter different treatments, the antierosion properties of the alloy satisfied the ISO requirements. Age-hardening heat treatment and cryogenic treatment improved the corrosion resistance of the alloy.

9.Study on garlic oil combined with 5-FU induced apoptosis of adenoid cystic carcinoma cell line ACC-M.

OBJECTIVE:
To observe the effect of garlic oil combined with 5-FU induced apoptosis of adenoid cystic carcinoma cell line ACC-M.
METHOD:
Human salivary in adenoid cystic carcinoma cell line AC-M was cultured, divided into the experimental group (5-FU group, garlic oil group, garlic oil + 5-FU group) and the control group, to observe the growth activity of tumor cells by MTT methods; to analyse the changes of cell cycle and apoptosis rate by flow cytometry.
RESULT:
MTT experiments showed that 5-FU, garlic oil, garlic oil and 5-FU on ACC-M cells have inhibition in different concentration, with the increase of concentration and action time of the rise; Cell cycle analysis showed significant changes in flow cytometry. With the increase of concentration and the acting time, the G0/G1, phase of the cell ratio increased, S had no significant change, but G2/M phase cells decreased. Apoptosis rate display showed garlic oil combined with 5-FU induced apoptosis of ACC-M cells was significantly stronger than single group.
CONCLUSION
Garlic oil can effectively induce the apoptosis of adenoid cystic carcinoma cell line ACC-M. The effect of garlic oil combined with 5-FU on ACC-M cells was stronger than the garlic oil, 5-FU used alone.

10.The protective effects of ischemic postconditioning on lung ischemic reperfusion injury in rats via PI3K/Akt pathway

Objective To investigate the protective effect of ischemic postconditioning on lung injury in situ during lung ischemic reperfusion.Methods 24 SD rats were randomly divided into 3 groups,sham-operated group(S),ischemic-reperfusion group(I/R) and ischemic postconditioning group (IpostC).IpostC was established by several brief reperfusion-ischemia (30 s,5 cycles) before continuous reperfusion.AKT,p-AKT,p70S6K,p-p70S6K protein expression,apoptotic cells were tested by Western blotting and TUNEL,wet to dry weight ratio(W/D) in lung tissue were determined respectively.The lung pathological changes were also observed.Results Compared with S group,expression of Akt、p-Akt、p70S6K、p-p70S6K and the ratio of W/D,apoptotic index in lung tissue all markedly increased in I/R and IpostC group (P < 0.05).Compared with I/R group,expression of Akt、p-Akt、p70S6K、p-p70S6K markedly increased in IpostC group(P <0.05),while the ratio of W/D and apoptotic index significantly reduced (P < 0.05),the pathological injury in IpostC group also reduced significantly.Conclusion IpostC has a protective effect on lung ischemic reperfusion injury via PI3K/Akt pathway.
