Background:
and Purpose Symptomatic intracranial hemorrhage (sICH) following endovascular thrombectomy (EVT) is a severe complication associated with adverse functional outcomes and increased mortality rates. Currently, a reliable predictive model for sICH risk after EVT is lacking.
Methods:
This study used data from patients aged ≥20 years who underwent EVT for anterior circulation stroke from the nationwide Taiwan Registry of Endovascular Thrombectomy for Acute Ischemic Stroke (TREAT-AIS). A predictive model including factors associated with an increased risk of sICH after EVT was developed to differentiate between patients with and without sICH. This model was compared existing predictive models using nationwide registry data to evaluate its relative performance.
Results:
Of the 2,507 identified patients, 158 developed sICH after EVT. Factors such as diastolic blood pressure, Alberta Stroke Program Early CT Score, platelet count, glucose level, collateral score, and successful reperfusion were associated with the risk of sICH after EVT. The TREAT-AIS score demonstrated acceptable predictive accuracy (area under the curve [AUC]=0.694), with higher scores being associated with an increased risk of sICH (odds ratio=2.01 per score increase, 95% confidence interval=1.64–2.45, P<0.001). The discriminatory capacity of the score was similar in patients with symptom onset beyond 6 hours (AUC=0.705). Compared to existing models, the TREAT-AIS score consistently exhibited superior predictive accuracy, although this difference was marginal.
Conclusions
The TREAT-AIS score outperformed existing models, and demonstrated an acceptable discriminatory capacity for distinguishing patients according to sICH risk levels. However, the differences between models were only marginal. Further research incorporating periprocedural and postprocedural factors is required to improve the predictive accuracy.

Electromagnetic fields can regulate the fundamental biological processes involved in bone remodeling. As a non-invasive physical therapy, electromagnetic fields with specific parameters have demonstrated therapeutic effects on bone remodeling diseases, such as fractures and osteoporosis. Electromagnetic fields can be generated by the movement of charged particles or induced by varying currents. Based on whether the strength and direction of the electric field change over time, electromagnetic fields can be classified into static and time-varying fields. The treatment of bone remodeling diseases with static magnetic fields primarily focuses on fractures, often using magnetic splints to immobilize the fracture site while studying the effects of static magnetic fields on bone healing. However, there has been relatively little research on the prevention and treatment of osteoporosis using static magnetic fields. Pulsed electromagnetic fields, a type of time-varying field, have been widely used in clinical studies for treating fractures, osteoporosis, and non-union. However, current clinical applications are limited to low-frequency, and research on the relationship between frequency and biological effects remains insufficient. We believe that different types of electromagnetic fields acting on bone can induce various “secondary physical quantities”, such as magnetism, force, electricity, acoustics, and thermal energy, which can stimulate bone cells either individually or simultaneously. Bone cells possess specific electromagnetic properties, and in a static magnetic field, the presence of a magnetic field gradient can exert a certain magnetism on the bone tissue, leading to observable effects. In a time-varying magnetic field, the charged particles within the bone experience varying Lorentz forces, causing vibrations and generating acoustic effects. Additionally, as the frequency of the time-varying field increases, induced currents or potentials can be generated within the bone, leading to electrical effects. When the frequency and power exceed a certain threshold, electromagnetic energy can be converted into thermal energy, producing thermal effects. In summary, external electromagnetic fields with different characteristics can generate multiple physical quantities within biological tissues, such as magnetic, electric, mechanical, acoustic, and thermal effects. These physical quantities may also interact and couple with each other, stimulating the biological tissues in a combined or composite manner, thereby producing biological effects. This understanding is key to elucidating the electromagnetic mechanisms of how electromagnetic fields influence biological tissues. In the study of electromagnetic fields for bone remodeling diseases, attention should be paid to the biological effects of bone remodeling under different electromagnetic wave characteristics. This includes exploring innovative electromagnetic source technologies applicable to bone remodeling, identifying safe and effective electromagnetic field parameters, and combining basic research with technological invention to develop scientifically grounded, advanced key technologies for innovative electromagnetic treatment devices targeting bone remodeling diseases. In conclusion, electromagnetic fields and multiple physical factors have the potential to prevent and treat bone remodeling diseases, and have significant application prospects.

Objective:To explore the association between childhood trauma and prefrontal cortex functional networks in early adulthood using functional near-infrared spectroscopy(fNIRS).Methods:Twenty-eight individu-als with childhood trauma comprised the trauma group, while 32 without trauma formed the control group. The Childhood Trauma Questionnaire(CTQ)assessed abuse and neglect, the Ruminative Responses Scale(RRS)meas-ured repetitive thinking about negative events, and the Iowa Gambling Task(IGT)evaluated decision-making tend-encies.fNIRS data collected during the IGT were used to calculate degree centrality(DC),betweenness centrality(BC),and local efficiency(LE)in prefrontal networks.Mediation analysis explored relationships among childhood trauma, brain function(DC,BC,LE),and ruminative thinking. Results:Compared to controls, the trauma group had decreased DC in bilateral dorsolateral prefrontal cortices, increased DC,BC,and LE in the right inferior frontal gy-rus,and elevated LE in the bilateral frontal poles.BC and LE in the right inferior frontal gyrus partially mediated the relationship between CTQ sexual abuse and RRS scores(48.57%and 41.43%,respectively).Conclusion:Child-hood trauma is significantly associated with changes in prefrontal network properties in early adulthood.Sexual a-buse,in particular, may influence emotional regulation and cognitive functions by altering the network attributes of the right inferior frontal gyrus.

Objective:To evaluate the effects of sequential immunotherapy with radiotherapy on survival time and immune function in patients with unresectable stage III non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) in a real-world study. Methods:Data of 84 patients with unresectable stage III NSCLC who were treated at the Affiliated Hospital of Inner Mongolia Medical University from January 2021 to December 2022 (retrospective cohort) and from January 2023 to December 2023 (prospective cohort) were collected. The patients were divided into the combination group ( n=40) and radiotherapy group ( n=44) based on whether they received sequential immunotherapy or not. The progression-free survival (PFS) and overall survival (OS) between two groups were compared using standardized mortality ratio weighting (SMRW). Univariate Cox proportional hazards model, multivariate regression analysis, multi-model comparison of propensity score matching and subgroup analysis were emploed to analyze the robustness of clinical efficacy between two groups. E-value analysis was used to analyze the sensitivity of unmeasured confounding factors in observational studies. Additionally, the percentage of CD4 +T cells, CD8 +T cells and natural killer (NK) cells, and CD4 +/CD8 + T cell ratio before and after treatment between two groups were compared using analysis of covariance. Results:Among 84 patients, 77 (92%) cases were male and 7 (8%) were female. Among them, 42 (50%) were aged 65 years or older. The variables showed high homogeneity after SMRW, with a standardized mean difference of less than 0.1. In the combination group, the median PFS [17.0 months vs. 7.0 months, HR=0.260, 95% CI: 0.130-0.490, P<0.001] and OS [not reached vs. 24.0 months, HR=0.210, 95% CI: 0.070-0.590, P=0.002] were significantly longer compared to that in the radiotherapy group, with statistically significant differences. The study results were confirmed by robustness and sensitivity analyses. After treatment, patients in the combination group showed a statistically significant increase in the percentage of CD4 + T cells and NK cells, and CD4 +/CD8 + T cell ratio, as well as a decrease in the percentage of CD8 + T cells compared to those in the radiotherapy group (all P<0.05). Conclusions:Sequential immunotherapy following radiotherapy can significantly improve survival and prognosis of unresectable stage III NSCLC patients. The survival benefit is even greater when combined with chemotherapy. The main mechanism of the survival benefit may be the improvement of anti-tumor immune function.

This study assessed the role and mechanism of the recombinant Bacillus Calmette-Gue?rin vaccine(rBCG)with c-di-AMP adjuvant in regulating metabolism and immunity in epididymal white adipose(eWAT)in mice.Male C57BL/6 mice were intravenously immunized with BCG and rBCG,and their body weights were monitored.eWAT was isolated from the mice, and the stromal vascular fractions(SVFs)cell number was counted with a hemocytometer.Sections of mouse adipose tissue were prepared, and the size, number, and morphology of eWAT adipocytes and crown-like structure(CLS)formation were compared under a microscope after HE staining. The transcription levels of lipid metabolism-associated factors, cytokines and aging-associated genes in each group were determined with qRT-PCR.The body weights of mice gradually increased after immunization with BCG and rBCG.The proportions of eWAT increased, and the SVFs cell number decreased,in rBCG immunized mice.HE staining indicated that BCG immunization promoted hyperplasia, whereas rBCG immunization promoted hypertrophy of eWAT adipocytes;moreover, both BCG and rBCG immunization induced CLS formation in eWAT.The qRT-PCR results indicated that rBCG immunization inhibited the expression of genes associated with lipolysis and energy expenditure in eWAT.BCG immunization had little effect on cytokine transcription, whereas rBCG significantly induced the transcription of IFN-γ and IL-1Ra,and inhibited that of IL-15 and IL-2,but did not induce the expression of aging-associated genes. Thus,rBCG immunization induced eWAT adipocyte hypertrophy, which was associated with the inhibition of eWAT lipolysis and the regulation of cytokine expression.

Plutonium isotopes(238Pu,239Pu,240Pu and 241Pu)in the environment are important"fingerprint"nuclides in the study of nuclear activity traceability. The content of plutonium isotopes in the environmental metrics is usually very low,and the measurement of these isotopes, especially 238Pu,using mass spectrometry is seriously interfered with by the coexisting 238U.The analysis of several plutonium isotopes in soil usually requires combination of multiple measurement techniques, which leads to a long analysis time and large uncertainty in the isotope ratio. In this work, the hydrous titanium oxide(HTiO)precipitated by the hydrolysis of titanium oxydichloride(TiOCl2)under near-neutral condition was used to preconcentrate plutonium from the soil digestion solution, and the highly efficient decontamination of 238U in the sample was achieved by TK200 resin column chromatography with a decontamination factor of 108.Simulation resuts of density functional theory(DFT)showed that NH3 was considered as a promising reaction gas to eliminate the interference of 238U from 238Pu measurement using mass spectrometry due to the significant discrepancy of the chemical reactivity of U+and Pu+with the reactive gas NH3.Experiments confirmed that by optimizing the flow rates of collision gas(He)and reaction gas(NH3),the interference of 238U could be effectively suppressed, and the decontamination factor of 238U was 104.Combined with chemical separation, the overall decontamination factor of 238U could reach 1012 by using the developed method.By combining chemical separation and tandem quadrupole inductively coupled plasmon-mass spectrometry(ICP-MS/MS)measurement,the simultaneous determination of four ultra-trace plutonium isotopes in soil was realized, and the detection limit of plutonium isotopes was at the femtogram level.Analysis of the international standard reference materials(NIST-SRM-4357 and IAEA-384)showed that the established method could be successfully used for the accurate analysis of ultra-trace four plutonium isotopes(238Pu,239Pu,240Pu and 241Pu)in soil samples.
