Aim To investigate the protective effects of resveratrol(RSV)on hypoxia/reoxygenation(H/R)-induced apoptosis in H9c2 cardiomyocytes and the un-derlying mechanisms.Methods A model of H/R was established in H9c2 cardiomyocytes.Cell apoptosis was determined by flow cytometry.The expressions of Bax,Bcl-2,cleaved caspase-3 and JAK2/STAT3 signa-ling pathway proteins were detected by Western blot.The inhibitor of JAK2,AG490,was used to assess the effect of RSV on H/R-induced apoptosis in H9c2 car-diomyocytes after inhibiting JAK2/STAT3 signaling pathway.Results RSV could effectively inhibit H/R-provoked cell apoptosis in H9c2 cardiomyocytes and increase the expression of p-JAK2 and p-STAT3.After AG490 intervention,the anti-apoptotic effect of RSV on H9c2 cardiomyocytes caused by H/R was significantly counteracted.Conclusions RSV can inhibit H/R-in-duced apoptosis in H9c2 cardiomyocytes through the activation of JAK2/STAT3 signaling pathway.

Objective To examine the diagnosis and treatment of disseminated infection caused by Enterocytozoon bieneusi in a child with leukemia and improve the awareness of the pathogen in clinical and laboratory practice.Methods A case of disseminated infection caused by Enterocytozoon bieneusi in a child with leukemia in Shanghai Children's Hospital was retrospectively analyzed,including diagnosis and treatment details.Similar cases were identified from PubMed,Wanfang Data,VIP,and CNKI databases since database establishment until June 30,2024,using search terms"Enterocytozoon bieneusi".The relevant literature was reviewed.Results This child had acute lymphoblastic leukemia as the underlying disease and was admitted to hospital for antimicrobial treatment due to fever and abdominal discomfort.The case was considered bacterial infection complicated with Enterocytozoon bieneusi infection,confirmed by detection of Klebsiella pneumoniae in blood and detection of Enterocytozoon bieneusi in blood and ascites by metagenomic next-generation sequencing(mNGS).The treatment was switched to tigecycline plus trimethoprim-sulfamethoxazole at a sufficient dose,which resulted in resolution of symptoms.Six months later,the patient suffered from acute lymphoblastic leukemia and bone marrow depression,Enterocytozoon bieneusi disseminated infection,septic shock.Her family gave up treatment and the child died.Literature review indicated that most patients infected with Enterocytozoon bieneusi had underlying conditions such as organ transplantation,AIDS,and leukemia associated with poor immunity.The onset symptoms are diarrhea,abdominal discomfort,and fever.Enterocytozoon bieneusi was detected by using methods such as modified Masson's trichrome stain,fluorescent calcofluor white staining,molecular detection techniques,and immunofluorescence.The patients were treated with drugs such as albendazole,nitazoxanide,fumagillin,and trimethoprim-sulfamethoxazole.Conclusions Enterocytozoon bieneusi is an opportunistic pathogenic fungus that infects immunocompromised patients and can cause abdominal discomfort,diarrhea,fever,and even disseminated infection and death.Conventional laboratory methods cannot culture Enterocytozoon bieneusi.Molecular detection techniques can be used to identify the pathogen early.

Objective To propose an improved Bouc-Wen model to alleviate the nonlinear effect of the hysteresis displacement of piezoceramics and enhance the motion control accuracy of the nano-displacement platform.Methods Firstly,two fine-tuning parameters including the asymmetric term and the input bias term were added to the classical Bouc-Wen model to eliminate the deviation of the starting and ending positions of the hysteresis curve,so as to obtain an improved Bouc-Wen model simulating the hysteresis displacement characteristics of piezoceramics on the nano-displacement platform.Secondly,the parameters of the improved Bouc-Wen model were identified based on the particle swarm optimization algorithm,and an inverse feedforward structure was adopted to realize the linearized control of the output displacement.Finally,an experimental system was built to verify the linearized control effect of the improved Bouc-Wen model.Results The hysteresis curve of the improved Bouc-Wen model fitted the actual voltage-displacement curve of piezoceramics significantly better when compared with that of the traditional model,which had a 56%reduction in the fitting error and a 0.03 μm error between the desired and actual displacements during the linearized output control with a driving voltage of 0-60 V and a maximum travel of about 4 μm.Conclusion The improved Bouc-Wen model behaves well in hysteresis displacement fitting and linearized output control,and a new idea is provided for enhancing the motion control accuracy of the nano-displacement platform.[Chinese Medical Equipment Journal,2025,46(8):25-31]

The accumulation of uremic toxins such as urea nitrogen, blood creatinine, and uric acid of patients with renal failure in vivo would lead to aggravated kidney damage. In this study, coated aldehyde oxy-starch (CAO) was used as an adsorbent to investigate its in vitro adsorption performance on renal failure indexes for urea, indoxyl sulfate (INS), monomethylamine (MMA), dimethylamine (DMA), uric acid (UA), and creatinine (Cr). The effects of variables such as pH, temperature, concentration, dosage, and time on the adsorption capacity of CAO were systematically investigated, employing analytical techniques of high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) and gas chromatography (GC). The results revealed that CAO exhibited a strong adsorption capacity for urea, INS, and MMA, alongside a moderate adsorption capacity for DMA, UA, and Cr. The adsorption kinetics and thermodynamic studies indicated that the adsorption of urea and UA by CAO were fitted in pseudo-first-order kinetics, and the adsorption isotherm aligned with the Freundlich adsorption model. The enthalpy change ΔH of urea in adsorption was in the range of 40 to 60 kJ·mol^-1, which demonstrated the presence of strong adsorption force due to the interactions of coordinating groups. The ΔH of UA was greater than 80 kJ·mol^-1, indicating the generation of chemical bonds during the adsorption. Both of them, Gibbs free energy ΔG was less than 0, within the range of -20 to 0 kJ·mol^-1, suggested that the adsorption of urea and UA by CAO occurred spontaneously as physical adsorption process. The adsorption entropy ΔS of urea and UA was > 0, which indicated an increase in entropy throughout the adsorption. The infrared spectroscopygram showed the formation of a chemical bond, specifically the imine bond, following the adsorption of urea by CAO, thereby indicating a chemical reaction during the adsorption. This study elucidates the adsorption mechanism of CAO on various indexes of renal failure, providing a scientific basis for its clinical usage.

OBJECTIVE: The present study evaluated the effects of deep acupuncture at Weizhong acupoint (BL40) on bladder function and brain activity in a rat model of overactive bladder (OAB), and investigated the possible mechanisms around the acupuncture area that initiate the effects of acupuncture. METHODS: Adult female Sprague-Dawley rats were randomly divided into six groups, comprising a control group, model group, group treated with deep acupuncture at BL40, group treated with shallow acupuncture at BL40, group treated with acupuncture at non-acupoint next to BL40, and group treated with acupuncture at Xuanzhong (GB39). Urodynamic evaluation was used to observe the urination, and functional magnetic resonance imaging was used to observe the brain activation. The mechanism of acupuncture at BL40 in regulating bladder function was explored by toluidine blue staining and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay, and the mechanism was verified by stabilizing mast cells (MCs) or blocking tibial nerve. RESULTS: Deep acupuncture at BL40 significantly increased the intercontraction interval in OAB rats and enhanced the mean amplitude of low frequency fluctuation of primary motor cortex (M1), periaquaductal gray matter (PAG), and pontine micturition center (PMC). It also increased the zero-lag functional connectivity between M1 and PAG and between PAG and PMC. Shallow acupuncture at BL40 and acupuncture at non-acupoint or GB39 had no effect on these indexes. Further studies suggested that deep acupuncture at BL40 increased the number and degranulation rate of MCs as well as the contents of 5-hydroxytryptamine, substance P, and histamine in the tissues around BL40. Blocking the tibial nerve by lidocaine injection or inhibiting MC degranulation by sodium cromoglycate injection obstructed the effects of acupuncture on restoring urinary function and modulating brain activation in OAB rats. CONCLUSION Deep acupuncture at BL40 may be more effective for inhibiting OAB by promoting degranulation of MCs around the acupoint and stimulating tibial nerve, thereby regulating the activation of the brain area that controls the lower urinary tract. Paclitaxel (PTX), a valuable natural product derived from Taxus species, exhibits remarkable anti-cancer properties. It penetrates nanopores in microtubule walls, interacting with tubulin on the lumen surface and disrupting microtubule dynamics, thereby inducing cytotoxic effects in cancer cells. PTX and its derivatives have gained approval for treating various diseases due to their low toxicity, high efficiency, and broad-spectrum application. The widespread success and expanding applications of PTX have led to increased demand, raising concerns about accessibility. Consequently, researchers globally have focused on developing alternative production methods and applying nanocarriers in PTX delivery systems to enhance bioavailability. This review examines the challenges and advancements in PTX sourcing, production, physicochemical properties, anti-cancer mechanisms, clinical applications, trials, and chemo-immunotherapy. It aims to provide a comprehensive reference for the rational development and effective utilization of PTX.

This study aims to investigate the ameliorating effect of Corni Fructus(CF) on the myocardial ischemic injury and the pharmacokinetic properties of characteristic components of CF. The mouse model of isoproterenol-induced myocardial ischemia was established and administrated with the aqueous extract of CF. The general efficacy of CF in ameliorating the myocardial ischemic injury was evaluated based on the cardiac histopathology and the levels of myocardial injury markers: creatine kinase isoenzyme(CK-MB) and cardiac troponin I(cTn-I). The metabolomics analysis was carried out for the heart and serum samples of mice to screen the biomarkers of CF in ameliorating the myocardial ischemic injury and then the predicted biomarkers were submitted to metabolic pathway enrichment. The pharmacokinetic analysis was performed for morroniside, loganin, and cornuside Ⅰ in mouse heart and serum samples to obtain the pharmacokinetic parameters of these components. The pharmacokinetic parameters were then integrated on the basis of self-defined weighting coefficients to simulate an integrated pharmacokinetic profile of CF iridoid glycosides in the heart and serum of the mouse model of myocardial ischemia. The results indicated that CF reduced the pathological damage to cardiac cells and tissue(hematoxylin-eosin staining) and lowered the levels of CK-MB and cTn-I in the serum of the mouse model of myocardial ischemia(P<0.01). Metabolomics analysis screed out 31 endogenous metabolites in the heart and 35 in the serum as biomarkers of CF in ameliorating the myocardial ischemic injury. These biomarkers were altered by modeling and restored by CF. Six metabolic pathways in the heart and 5 in the serum were enriched based on these metabolic markers. The main integrated pharmacokinetic parameters of CF iridoid glycosides were T_(max)=1 h, t_(1/2)=(1.52±0.05) h in the heart and T_(max)=1 h, t_(1/2)=(1.56±0.50) h in the serum. Both concentration-time curves showed a double-peak phenomenon. In conclusion, CF demonstrated the cardioprotective effect by regulating metabolic pathways such as taurine and hypotaurine metabolism, and pantothenic acid and coenzyme A biosynthesis. The integrated pharmacokinetics reflect the general pharmacokinetic properties of characteristic components in CF.

Ferric oxide/nitrogen-doped carbon nanomaterials(Fe2O3/N-C)with high oxidase-like activity were successfully synthesized via the wet chemistry and pyrolysis method using pyrrole and 1,2,3,4-butanetetracarboxylic acid as raw materials and ferric chloride as the oxidant.The structure and morphology of Fe2O3/N-C were characterized by the techniques including scanning electron microscopy,surface scanning elemental analysis,X-ray diffraction,X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy,and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy.It was revealed that Fe2O3/N-C could efficiently catalyze the conversion of colorless 3,3',5,5'-tetramethylbenzidine(TMB)into blue-colored oxidized TMB(oxTMB).Based on the principle that ascorbic acid(AA)could inhibit the catalytic color-development reaction of Fe2O3/N-C on TMB,resulting in a paler color and a reduction in the absorbance of the system,a colorimetric sensor for sensitive and accurate detection of AA was constructed.The linear range of the sensor for AA detection was 0.25-30.0 μmol/L,and the detection limit was 0.1 μmol/L.Moreover,it was successfully applied to determination of AA in beverage and tablet samples with satisfactory results.
