BACKGROUND:Fracture healing is a very complex physiological process,which is influenced by many factors.In recent years,the use of biomechanical factors in fracture healing has been a major focus in the field of orthopedics,and the mechanical stress environment around the fracture end has an important role in regulating fracture healing.Among them,the study of the mechanism of compressive mechanics on the cytokines of fracture ends is a hot spot for bone-related researchers.OBJECTIVE:To summarize the current status and recent advances in the study of the mechanism of action of compressive stress on cytokines in fracture healing in recent years.METHODS:A search with the keywords of"compressive stress,fracture healing,cytokine,bone morphogenetic protein,fibroblast growth factor,platelet-derived growth factor,vascular endothelial growth factor,interleukin,tumor necrosis factor-α"in Chinese and English was conducted in the CNKI,WanFang,PubMed,and Web of Science.Initially 506 articles were retrieved,and 94 eligible articles that met the criteria were screened and finally summarized.RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:Current studies have found that compressive stress has different effects on different cytokines during fracture healing,which can be achieved mainly by influencing cell signaling,gene expression regulation,and modulation of cell behavior.Among them,compressive stress can be linked to cytokines such as bone morphogenetic protein,fibroblast growth factor,platelet-derived growth factor,vascular endothelial growth factor,interleukin,and tumor necrosis factor-α.This process involves cell proliferation,differentiation and migration,inflammatory response,and changes in the environmental and nutritional conditions of the fracture end,which are key factors affecting fracture healing.The whole paper summarizes the complexity of cytokine action mechanism,the mechanism of compressive stress on its regulation needs to be further carried out in-depth research,and the problems and limitations in the research are considered and future prospects.

We report a case of a female farmer from the Yichang suburb, aged 68 years, who had been suffering from the infection for 3 years and had a history of seeking medical treatment at a community hospital and receiving blood transfusions. Her hemoglobin was as low as 28 g/L during this visit, and she had been ill for a long time with severe anemia. Routine stool examination revealed hookworm eggs. After active treatment, the patient recovered and was discharged from the hospital.

This study investigated the drug resistance and genetic relationships among strains co-existing in animals,the environ-ment,and the living quarters of employees at large-scale pig farms in certain regions of Shandong Province,to provide a scientific ba-sis for elucidating the transmission mechanisms of drug-resistant bacteria through bacterial traceability analysis.Samples were col-lected from two pig farms,and bacteria were isolated and purified.The species of the isolated strains were identified via 16S rRNA gene sequencing.Antimicrobial susceptibility testing was conducted with a VITEK-2 Compact system and the disk diffusion method for strains present in pigs,the environment,and living areas.Furthermore,whole-genome sequencing was performed on the Illumina Miniseq platform to annotate drug resistance genes,and multilocus sequence typing(MLST)and core genome single nucleotide poly-morphism(cgSNP)analyses were used to trace the resistant strains.Three species—Staphylococcus aureus,Pseudomonas aeruginosa,and Bacillus cereus—were isolated and cultured from animals,the environment,and employee living areas,and their distributions were analyzed.These strains exhibited diverse drug resistance spectra and genetic diversity.Additionally,the strains displayed highly consistent resistance profiles,resistance genes,ST types,and SNP loci in pig urine,soil both inside and outside the facility,human drinking water,and the cafeteria and dormitories.Our findings indicated a potential risk of transmission of opportunistic pathogens be-tween the pig farming area and the living quarters.Particular attention should be paid to the environmental transmission of methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus.

Objective:To determine whether the Rb1 of ginsenoside has protective effects on PA induced oxidative stress in endothelial cells.Methods:Established a model of palmitic acid-induced oxidative stress injury in human umbilical vein endothelial cells(HUVECs).Using MTT assay,flow cytometry,fluorescent probe staining,and Western blot analysis to detect whether Rb1 of ginsenoside has effects on the cell viability,apoptosis rate,ROS and NO production,mitochondrial membrane potential,and the expression levels of related proteins.Results:MTT assay and flow cytometry revealed that ginsenoside Rb1 can reduce PA-induced apoptosis in HUVECs(P＜0.05).The mechanism may be related to the following two points:(1)reducing ROS production and increasing NO levels,thereby enhancing the antioxidant capacity of HUVECs;(2)regulating the expression of Bcl-2 family proteins,increasing the BCL-2/Bax ratio(P＜0.05),modulating mitochondrial membrane permeability,reducing cytochrome C release(P＜0.001),and decreasing Caspase protein activation(P＜0.01),thereby attenuating PA-induced apoptosis.Conclusion:After the stimulation with PA,ROS production in human umbilical vein endothelial cells increased while NO content and cell activity decreased,oxidative stress induced apoptosis in cells.By regulating the production of ROS and NOx stabilizing the mitochondrial transmembrane potential,reducing the leakage of cytochrome C,Ginsenoside Rb1 can reduce HUVECs apoptosis induced by PA.

Objective To investigate the effect of different residence time of povidone iodine on the disinfection effect of conjunctival sac in senile cataract surgery.Methods A total of 396 senile patients who underwent cataract surgery in our hospital were selected and randomly divided into the long-residence group and the short-residence group,with 198 cases in each group.The patients of the long-residence group and the short-residence group were disinfected with a disposable filling 5%povidone iodine on conjunctival sac for 3 minutes and 30 seconds before surgery,respectively.The bacterial detection and bacterial distribution on conjunctival sac,and corneal epithelial cell damage were compared between the two groups.The subjective comfort conditions such as ocular itching,foreign body sensation,erythema,and photophobia after disinfection were recorded.Results There was no significant difference in the bacterial detection rate before and after disinfection between the two groups(P>0.05).The most frequently detected bacteria in the short-residence group was Staphylococcus epidermidis,accounting for 28.79%and 33.33%before and after disinfection,respectively.The incidences of ocular itching,foreign body sensation,erythema,and photophobia after disinfection in the short-residence group were significantly lower than those in the long-residence group(P<0.05),while the rate of corneal epithelial cell damage in the long-residence group was significantly higher than that in the short-residence group(P<0.05).Conclusion The use of disposable filling 5%povidone iodine for disinfection on conjunctival sac for 30 seconds before surgery can achieve a comparable disinfection effect to disinfection for 3 minutes,which has less effect on corneal epithelial cells,and higher ocular comfort.

Objective To investigate the post-intervention experiences in elderly stroke patients who received the group-based acceptance and commitment therapy(ACT)and to provide a reference to improve the group-based ACT intervention strategies for the patients.Methods With the descriptive phenomenological research,the semi-structured in-depth interviews were conducted with 15 elderly stroke patients who had received the group-based ACT intervention for 6 months in a Tier-IIIA hospital in Hunan Province between May and July 2023.The data acquired from the interviews were analysed using the Colaizzi method.Results The experiences in elderly stroke patients with the group-based ACT intervention were categorised into three main themes and ten sub-themes:(1)The impact of intervention on the psychology and spirit(change cognition and accept oneself;enhance awareness and reflect on oneself;clarify values and adapt to oneself;disengage from suffering and achieve dissociation;understand suffering and discover a sense of meaning in life);(2)Behavioural changes brought by the intervention(change approaches to improve health;engage in rehabilitation exercises and build confidence;enhance social interactions and integrate into life);(3)Suggestions for the intervention program(tailor to the physiological characteristics of the elderly;adapt to the psychological characteristics of the elderly).Conclusion The group-based ACT intervention has a beneficial effect on the psychological,spiritual and behavioural changes in the elderly stroke patients.The intervention programs should be improved according to the physical and mental characteristics therefore to improve the mental health of elderly stroke patients.
