1.Analysis of radioactivity monitoring results of atmospheric fallout in the area around Daya Bay Nuclear Power Plant, 2019-2022

Objective To analyze the activity concentrations of gross α, gross β, and radionuclides in atmospheric fallout around Daya Bay Nuclear Power Plant from 2019 to 2022, and provide foundational scientific data for the healthy development of nuclear energy. Methods Five monitoring sites were set up at different distances (1.2, 6.9, 12.4, 42.3, and 69.2 km) from Daya Bay Nuclear Island 1. Stainless steel sampling barrels were used to collect atmospheric fallout, with a monitoring cycle of three months. The collected samples were ashed using radiochemical method. Subsequently, the gross α and gross β radioactivity were quantified using a low-background α/β measurement instrument. The remaining ash samples were mixed with water and left to equilibrate for over three weeks before γ-nuclide analysis using a low-background, high-purity germanium γ-spectrometer. Results The gross α activity concentration in atmospheric fallout around Daya Bay Nuclear Power Plant from 2019 to 2022 averaged (25.3 ± 10.6) Bq/m2/season and ranged from 5.8 to 73.4 Bq/m2/season. The gross α activity concentrations in sampling sites #1 to #5 were 5.8-34.4, 11.9-35.2, 14.4-46.4, 7.2-73.4, and 13.1-43.1 Bq/m2/season, respectively. The gross β activity concentration averaged (50.5 ± 23.4) Bq/m2/season and ranged from 13.9 to 139.3 Bq/m2/season. The gross β activity concentrations of sampling sites #1 to #5 were 17.1-107.4, 17.6-87.5, 25.8-102.0, 13.9-139.3, and 23.4-99.2 Bq/m2/season, resprctively. 2.Status and influencing factors of post-traumatic stress disorder in postoperative breast cancer patients

Objective:To investigate the status of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and its influencing factors in postoperative breast cancer patients.Methods:A convenience sampling method was used to select 410 postoperative breast cancer patients from the Provincial Hospital of the First Medical University of Shandong between January 2023 and December 2024. The PTSD Checklist-Civilian Version (PCL-C), the Connor-Davidson Resilience Scale (CD-RISC), and the Simple Coping Style Questionnaire (SCSQ) were used for assessment. Binary Logistic regression analysis was performed to analyze influencing factors.Results:A total of 410 questionnaires were distributed, and 405 valid questionnaires were returned, with an effective recovery rate of 98.78% (405/410). Among them, 150 patients were PTSD-positive. Binary Logistic regression analysis showed that educational level, monthly family income, psychological resilience, and coping style were influencing factors for PTSD in postoperative breast cancer patients ( P<0.05) . Conclusions:Low education level, low income, and negative coping style are risk factors for PTSD in postoperative breast cancer patients; positive coping style and high psychological resilience are protective factors. Clinical practitioners should develop preventive or intervention measures based on these influencing factors to reduce the occurrence of PTSD in postoperative breast cancer patients.
3.Establishment and clinical applications of a prognostic model based on disease progression within 24 months in patients with multiple myeloma

Objective:To establish a prognostic model and explore its clinical application based on disease progression within 24 months(POD24)in patients with multiple myeloma(MM).Methods:A total of 289 patients newly diagnosed with MM at Wuxi People's Hospital from January 2007 to June 2022 were selected as the training group for retrospective analysis.A prognostic model based on POD24 was constructed using Cox univariate and multivariate analyses of overall survival(OS).A total of 184 patients from The First Affiliated Hospital of Soochow University from August 2015 to December 2019 were included in the validation group to verify the predictive efficacy of the model.Results:Age,β2-microglobulin,Calcium,and POD24 were independent prognostic factors for MM.Patients in the high-risk group(≥2 points)had shorter OS(25.0 months vs.60.0 months)and progression-free survival(PFS)(14.0 months vs.56.0 months)than those in the low-risk group(<2 points).In addition,OS and PFS differed between the high-and low-risk groups in the entire validation group,as well as in each patient subgroup(P<0.05).Conclusions:The prognostic model based on POD24,age,β2 microglobulin,and Calcium holds prognostic value for patients newly diagnosed with MM in clinical practice.
4.Changes in properties of treated allogeneic tendons after multiple freeze-thaw cycles

BACKGROUND:Allogeneic tendons are often used in clinical treatment of tendon and ligament injuries,which need to be treated before clinical application.At present,allogeneic tendons will face multiple freeze-thaw cycles after cryopreservation,but there is no relevant research on the changes in the properties of the treated allogeneic tendon after several freeze-thaw cycles.OBJECTIVE:To explore the changes in mechanical properties and composition of allogeneic tendon after multiple freeze-thaw cycles.METHODS:The treated allogeneic tendon was frozen and thawed 3,6,and 10 times at-40 ℃(or-80 ℃),respectively.The mechanical test,DNA content,glycosaminoglycan sulfate,hydroxyproline content and total protein content of the allogeneic tendon after freezing and thawing were detected.RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:(1)There was no significant difference in the maximum load,maximum load elongation,tensile strength and elastic modulus between groups after freezing-thawing cycles for 3,6,and 10 times at-40 ℃(P>0.05).There was no significant difference in the maximum load and maximum load elongation between the groups after freezing-thawing cycles for 3,6,and 10 times at-80 ℃(P>0.05).The tensile strength of the group with 3 cycles of freezing and thawing was higher than that of the groups with 6 and 10 cycles of freezing and thawing(P<0.05).The elastic modulus of the group with 3 cycles of freezing and thawing was higher than that of the group with 10 cycles of freezing and thawing(P<0.05).(2)The freezing and thawing times did not affect the contents of DNA,hydroxyproline,total protein,and sulfated glycosaminoglycan in allogeneic tendon when stored at-40 ℃(or-80 ℃).(3)These findings suggest that in-40℃ storage,the performance of the allogeneic tendon should not be affected by taking out and putting back the tendon less than 10 times,while in-80 ℃ storage,the allogeneic tendon should be taken out and put back less than 6 times.
5.Construction and validation of prediction model for catheter-related blood-stream infection in preterm infants receiving PICC

Objective To construct a prediction model for the risk of peripherally inserted central venous catheter(PICC)-related bloodstream infection(CRBSI)in preterm infants,and evaluate the effect of the model.Methods 1 295 preterm infants admitted to the neonatal intensive care unit(NICU)in a hospital and received PICC intrave-nous infusion from January 2019 to October 2023 were selected as the study subjects,including 1 080 preterm in-fants from January 2019 to December 2022 in the modeling set and 215 premature infants from January to October 2023 in the validation set.Risk factors of cases were analyzed based on 24 clinical characteristics,optimized charac-teristics was selected by LASSO regression,independent risk factors for CRBSI of preterm infants during PICC in-dwelling period were identified by multiple logistic regression analysis,and nomogram model was constructed with R software.Discrimination and fitting of the model were evaluated by the area under the curve(AUC)of the receiver operating characteristic(ROC)as well as Hosmer-Lemeshow test and calibration curve,and clinical practicality of the model was evaluated by decision curve analysis(DCA).Results Multivariate logistic analysis showed that birth weight ≥1 500 g,sterile protection during catheter maintenance,and sterile cloth wrapped joints were protective factors for CRBSI during PICC indwelling period in preterm infants(OR=0.172,0.187,0.063,respectively,all P<0.05),while puncture frequency>2 times,catheter indwelling period>14 days,and use of tees were inde-pendent risk factors for CRBSI during PICC indwelling period in premature infants(OR=2.533,14.128,13.256,respectively,all P<0.05).The AUC of ROC of the modeling set was 0.953(95%CI:0.936-0.969),and that of the validation set was 0.930(95%CI:0.885-0.974),indicating good discriminability of the model.The calibra-tion curve and Hosmer-Lemeshow goodness of fit test showed that the model had good accuracy and consistency,with high net profit value,indicating that the predictive value of the model was high and with good clinical practica-lity.The statistical test result in the rationality analysis of the model was P<0.001.Conclusion The nomogram model based on the general clinical characteristics of preterm infants as well as the basic prevention and control measures of the catheter can provide a visual and simple evaluation tool for early identification of high risk factors for CRBSI in preterm infants.
6.Analysis of quality control test results of some radiological diagnosis and treatment equipment in Shenzhen City, China, 2019-2023

Objective To investigate the current status of quality control of radiological diagnosis and treatment equipment in Shenzhen City, explore the problems in quality control testing of radiological diagnosis and treatment equipment, and provide control strategies. Methods According to the requirements of the Special Monitoring Work Plan for Radiation Health in Shenzhen, quality control tests were carried out on some radiological diagnosis and treatment equipment in Shenzhen according to the test items and methods of the currently valid national standards. Results From 2019 to 2023, a total of 72 medical institutions participated in radiological health monitoring program in Shenzhen, and 839 quality control tests were performed on radiological diagnosis and treatment equipment. The qualified rate was 91.8% in preliminary tests. The qualified rates of radiological diagnosis, radiotherapy, and nuclear medicine equipment were 91.9%, 96.3%, and 62.5%, respectively. The primary unqualified items were response uniformity, flatness of the X-ray irradiation field, and intrinsic spatial linearity. Conclusion The qualified rate in quality control of nuclear medical equipment is relatively low. Medical institutions should strengthen the routine maintenance of radiological diagnosis and treatment equipment. Radiological health technical service institutions should enhance the training of technical personnel to ensure the health and safety of patients and radiation workers.
7.Microbial Diversity and Physicochemical Properties of Rhizosphere Soil of Healthy and Diseased Andrographis paniculata

ObjectiveTo analyze the diversity and structural characteristics of microbial communities in the rhizosphere soil of healthy and diseased Andrographis paniculata and to explore the interactions of soil, plants, and microorganisms during the occurrence of diseases. MethodsThe physicochemical properties of the rhizosphere soil of healthy and diseased A.paniculata were determined, and the composition and diversity of bacterial and fungal communities in the rhizosphere soil were analyzed by Illumina high-throughput sequencing. Furthermore, the correlations between physicochemical properties and microorganisms of the rhizosphere soil were explored. ResultsThe content of total nitrogen, total potassium, and available potassium in the rhizosphere soil of diseased A. paniculata was significantly higher than that of healthy A. paniculata. The alpha diversity and richness (operational taxonomic units) of bacterial and fungal communities in the rhizosphere soil of diseased plants decreased compared with those of healthy plants. The microbial communities in the rhizosphere soil of healthy and diseased A. paniculata showed similar composition but different relative abundance. At the phylum level, the relative abundance of Proteobacteria and Chytridiomycota significantly increased, while that of Bacteroidota significantly decreased in the rhizosphere soil of diseased plants. At the genus level, the relative abundance of Sphingomonas, Pseudomonas, and Bryobacter significantly increased, while that of RB41 showed a significant decrease in the rhizosphere soil of diseased plants. The correlation analysis showed different correlations of microbial phyla with physicochemical properties of the rhizosphere soil between healthy and diseased plants. Organic matter, alkaline nitrogen, available phosphorus, and total potassium were correlated with the relative abundance of some dominant bacterial and fungal phyla in the rhizosphere soil of healthy plants, while available nitrogen and total phosphorus were correlated with the relative abundance of some dominant bacterial and fungal phyla in the rhizosphere soil of diseased plants. ConclusionThere are differences in the diversity and richness of microbial communities in the rhizosphere soil of healthy and diseased A. paniculata. The physicochemical properties of soil may have an impact on the rhizosphere microorganisms of A. paniculata, leading to the development of diseases. The results provide a scientific basis for the prevention and ecological management of A. paniculata diseases.

9.Five new meroterpenoids from Rhododendron anthopogonoides and their anti-inflammatory activity.

Five meroterpenoids, rhodonoids K-M (1-2), daurichromene E (3), and grifolins A-B (4-5), together with seven known compounds (6-12), were isolated from Rhododendron anthopogonoides. The chemical structures of these compounds were elucidated through comprehensive analysis of high-resolution electrospray ionization mass spectrometry (HR-ESI-MS), ultraviolet (UV), infrared spectroscopy (IR), and nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) data. Their absolute configurations were determined by comparing experimental electronic circular dichroism (ECD) spectra with computed values. Notably, compounds 1 and 3 demonstrated significant inhibitory effects on lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced inflammation in RAW264.7 cells. These compounds markedly suppressed the mRNA expressions of inflammatory factors, including interleukin (IL)-1β, IL-6, and tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α) while also down-regulating the protein expressions of inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS) and cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2).

10.Analysis of indoor radon concentration and environmental cumulative dose monitoring results in Shenzhen, China

Objective To investigate indoor radon concentrations and environmental cumulative doses in residential and office units in Shenzhen, and estimate the average annual effective dose, and to provide data for assessing public health risks. Methods Within the 11 administrative districts of Shenzhen (including the Shenzhen-Shanwei Special Cooperation Zone), 17 residential units and 3 office units were randomly selected as monitoring sites in each district. The units selected represented buildings of different ages and various floors on which the units were located. Radon detectors and environmental cumulative dosimeters were deployed for monitoring. Results The indoor radon concentrations in Shenzhen during the two monitoring periods were (36.6 ± 16.5) Bq/m3 and (19.8 ± 15.3) Bq/m3, respectively. The environmental cumulative doses for the two monitoring periods were (0.33 ± 0.07) mSv and (0.25 ± 0.04) mSv, respectively. The estimated average annual effective dose due to indoor radon in Shenzhen was 0.92 mSv. Conclusion All monitored indoor radon concentrations in Shenzhen were below the national standard of China. The indoor radon concentrations exhibited significant regional variations, were higher in spring than in summer, and showed no statistically significant differences across buildings of different ages or units of various floors. The trends in indoor radon concentrations and environmental cumulative doses were highly consistent. The average indoor radon concentration in Shenzhen was lower than both the global and national levels, indicating a low risk of internal radiation exposure from radon.
