1.Clinical characteristics and outcomes of 11 neonates with venous thrombosis.

OBJECTIVES:
To summarize the clinical characteristics, diagnosis, and treatment outcomes of neonatal venous thrombosis.
METHODS:
A retrospective analysis was conducted on the clinical data of 11 neonates with venous thrombosis admitted to the Department of Neonatology of Anhui Children's Hospital from January 2019 to September 2024. The clinical characteristics, diagnostic approaches, treatments, and outcomes were analyzed.
RESULTS:
Among the 11 neonates diagnosed with venous thrombosis, 5 were male, and 6 were preterm infants, with a median gestational age of 35+6 weeks, birth weight of (2 322±1 069) g, and admission temperature of (36.6±0.4)°C. The median age at symptom onset was 6 days. Of the 11 cases, 8 limb venous thromboses and 1 portal vein thrombosis were confirmed by vascular ultrasound, and 2 cases of intracranial venous sinus thrombosis were confirmed by magnetic resonance imaging. Ten cases received low molecular weight heparin for anticoagulation, with a treatment duration of (24±15) days; 2 cases were treated with urokinase thrombolysis, and 4 cases received fresh frozen plasma transfusion. Thrombosis resolved in 7 cases before discharge. Partial resolution occurred in 2 cases before discharge (1 continued outpatient treatment until resolution and 1 resolved during follow-up). One case was transferred to another hospital after 1 day of treatment and was discharged after thrombosis reduction. No adverse reactions such as bleeding were observed. One neonate with cerebral infarction at admission did not receive heparin anticoagulation and was followed up as an outpatient.
CONCLUSIONS
Vascular ultrasound is the most commonly used diagnostic method for neonatal venous thrombosis. Heparin anticoagulation is the recommended treatment. The overall prognosis of neonatal venous thrombosis is favorable.

2.Effects of dietary supplements on patients with osteoarthritis: A systematic review and network meta-analysis.

BACKGROUND:
A growing body of research is exploring the role of antioxidant and anti-inflammatory dietary supplements in the treatment of osteoarthritis, highlighting an increasing emphasis on non-pharmacological interventions. Although more patients are turning to supplements to manage osteoarthritis, their actual effectiveness remains uncertain.
OBJECTIVE:
This study aims to provide a comprehensive evaluation of the available evidence concerning the efficacy of various dietary supplements in osteoarthritis treatment.
SEARCH STRATEGY:
We searched PubMed, Embase, Cochrane Library and Web of Science for studies on the use of various dietary supplements in the treatment of osteoarthritis from the creation of each database until Jan 20, 2025.
INCLUSION CRITERIA:
(1) Research object: osteoarthritis. (2) Intervention measures: patients in the treatment group received dietary supplements, while the control group received placebos. (3) Research type: randomized controlled trials (RCTs).
DATA EXTRACTION AND ANALYSIS:
Two researchers independently examined the literature and retrieved data based on predefined criteria. The information gathered included the first author, year of publication, sample size, participant demographics, length of the follow-up period, intervention and control measures, and inclusion indications. RCTs comparing dietary supplements to placebo with the pain and function subscales of the Western Ontario and McMaster Universities Osteoarthritis Index (WOMAC) among patients with osteoarthritis were included. The optimal dietary supplement was identified based on the total ranking by summing the surface under the cumulative ranking curve (SUCRA) of these two scores. Furthermore, the Grading of Recommendations Assessment, Development, and Evaluation (GRADE) was used to confirm the quality of the evidence.
RESULTS:
Overall, 23 studies covering 21 dietary supplements and involving 2455 participants met the inclusion criteria. In the WOMAC pain score, the SUCRA of passion fruit peel extract was 91% (mean difference [MD]: -9.2; 95% confidence interval [CI]: [-16.0, -2.3]), followed by methylsulfonylmethane (89%), undenatured type II collagen (87%), collagen (84%), and Lanconone (82%). The SUCRA (99%) of passion fruit peel extract (MD: -41.0; 95% CI: [-66.0, -16.0]) ranked first in terms of the WOMAC function score, followed by Lanconone (95%), collagen (86%), ParActin (84%), and Lactobacillus casei strain Shirota (83%). The top three total rankings are passion fruit peel extract (95.0%), Lanconone (88.5%), and collagen (85.0%). However, the GRADE revealed low evidence quality.
CONCLUSION
Passion fruit peel extract was the best supplement for improving WOMAC pain and function scores in patients with osteoarthritis, followed by Lanconone and collagen. However, further large-scale, well designed RCTs are required to substantiate these promising findings. 3.Radiomics based on biparametric MRI for the detection of significant residual prostate cancer after androgen deprivation therapy: using whole-mount histopathology as reference standard.

We aimed to study radiomics approach based on biparametric magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) for determining significant residual cancer after androgen deprivation therapy (ADT). Ninety-two post-ADT prostate cancer patients underwent MRI before prostatectomy (62 with significant residual disease and 30 with complete response or minimum residual disease [CR/MRD]). Totally, 100 significant residual, 52 CR/MRD lesions, and 70 benign tissues were selected according to pathology. First, 381 radiomics features were extracted from T2-weighted imaging, diffusion-weighted imaging, and apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC) maps. Optimal features were selected using a support vector machine with a recursive feature elimination algorithm (SVM-RFE). Then, ADC values of significant residual, CR/MRD lesions, and benign tissues were compared by one-way analysis of variance. Logistic regression was used to construct models with SVM features to differentiate between each pair of tissues. Third, the efficiencies of ADC value and radiomics models for differentiating the three tissues were assessed by area under receiver operating characteristic curve (AUC). The ADC value (mean ± standard deviation [s.d.]) of significant residual lesions ([1.10 ± 0.02] × 10-3 mm2 s-1) was significantly lower than that of CR/MRD ([1.17 ± 0.02] × 10-3 mm2 s-1), which was significantly lower than that of benign tissues ([1.30 ± 0.02] × 10-3 mm2 s-1; both P < 0.05). The SVM feature models were comparable to ADC value in distinguishing CR/MRD from benign tissue (AUC: 0.766 vs 0.792) and distinguishing residual from benign tissue (AUC: 0.825 vs 0.835) (both P > 0.05), but superior to ADC value in differentiating significant residual from CR/MRD (AUC: 0.748 vs 0.558; P = 0.041). Radiomics approach with biparametric MRI could promote the detection of significant residual prostate cancer after ADT.

4.Intradermal needling combined with heat-sensitive moxibustion for moderate to severe cancer pain.

OBJECTIVE:
To observe the effect of intradermal needling combined with heat-sensitive moxibustion for moderate to severe cancer pain.
METHODS:
A total of 60 patients with moderate to severe cancer pain were randomly divided into an observation group and a control group,30 cases in each one. In the control group,opioids were taken to relief pain according to the three-step analgesic method of World Health Organization. On the base of the treatment as the control group, intradermal needling combined with heat-sensitive moxibustion were applied at Neiguan (PC 6), Hegu (LI 4), Zusanli (ST 36), Taichong (LR 3), etc. in the observation group, 14 days of treatment were required. The equivalent morphine consumption at the first day and whole course, the scores of cancer quality of life questionnaire-C30 (QLQ-C30) and Hamilton anxiety scale before and after treatment, and the adverse reaction rate were compared in the two groups. The total analgesic effective rate was evaluated.
RESULTS:
The total analgesic effective rate was 93.3% (28/30) in the observation group, higher than 73.3% (22/30) in the control group (
CONCLUSION
Intradermal needling combined with heat-sensitive moxibustion can reduce the dose of opioids, improve the quality of life, relief the anxiety in patients with moderate to severe cancer pain, and reduce the incidence of common adverse reaction of opioids.

5.Outcome analysis of 71 patients with laryngeal squamous cell carcinoma

Objective To investigate the prognosis relevant factors of laryngeal squamous cell carcinoma (LSCC).Methods From January 2013 to December 2013,the clinical data of 71 patients with LSCC who were initially treated in Zhejiang Cancer Hospital were retrospectively analyzed.Results Univariate analysis showed that there were statistically significant differences in survival rate between the group of supraglottic type and glottic type (60.0% vs.86.3% ,χ2 =6.284,P<0.05),the group of N0 and N+(41.7% vs.86.4% ,χ2 =16.803,P<0.01), the group of early and late stage(93.6% vs.50.0% ,χ2 =19.854,P<0.01).There were no statistically significant differences in survival rate between the group of age ≤50,>50-60,>60-70 and >70(88.9% vs.88.2% vs. 79.3% vs.62.5% ,χ2 =3.909,P>0.05),the group of T1+T2 and T3+T4(83.6% vs.62.5% ,χ2 =3.623,P>0.05),the group of high,medium,low differentiated and unsigned(75.0% vs.69.7% vs.83.3% vs.91.7% ,χ2 =3.780,P>0.05),the group of surgery,radiotherapy and surgery+radiotherapy (74.3% vs.90.9% vs.71.4% , χ2 =2.437,P>0.05).Multivariate analysis showed that age( P =0.003),treatment( P =0.048) had significant effect on the prognosis of patients,but tumor location(P=0.766),T stage(P=0.677),N stage(P=0.482),clinical stage(P=0.825),the degree of pathological differentiation(P=0.206) had no significant effect on the prognosis of patients.Conclusion More aggressive treatment should be supplied for patients with N+,advanced clinical stage and age whom the prognosis are usually poor. In addition, the proportion of tracheal tube extraction should be appreciated.
6.Characteristics and Clinical Significance of RAG1 Expression in Adult B-Cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia.

OBJECTIVE:
RAG1 plays important roles in lymphopoiesis and immune system, its dysfunction may result in the malignancies of hemopoietic system. The aim of this study was to investigate the characteristics of RAG1 expression in adult B-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia (B-ALL), and to analyze the clinical significances.
METHODS:
Quantitative PCR (q-PCR) was performed to evaluate the expression of RAG1 in 104 newly diagnosed, 22 relapsed adult B-ALL patients and 30 normal controls, the clinical significances of RAG1 expression were analyzed.
RESULTS:
Compared with normal controls, newly diagnosed and relapsed adult B-ALL patients showed higher RAG1 expression level (3.94 vs 1.23) (P<0.01), (5.86 vs 1.23) (P<0.01). The analysis of paired simples from 6 cases of newly diagnosed and relapsed B-ALL showed that the expression level of RAG1 at relapse was significantly higher than that at new diagnosis (13.65 vs 2.31) (P<0.01). The RAG1 expression level in IK6 positive patients was higher than that in IK6 negative patients (5.30 vs 2.11) (P<0.05). The ratio of patients with LDH>1 000 U/L in RAG1 high expression group was higher than that in RAG1 low expression group (42.2% vs 20.5%) (P<0.05).
CONCLUSION
RAG1 up-regulation may play an important role in the development of adult B-ALL especially when relapsed, which may also take part in the formation of Ik6. Monitoring RAG1 expression may provide a new method to evaluate the prognosis of adult B-ALL patients.

7. Effect of Modified Shenling Baizhu San on Inflammatory Factors and Peripheral Blood T Lymphocyte Subsets in Spleen Deficiency Wetness Type Subacute Eczema

Objective: To observe the clinical efficacy modified Shenling Baizhu San in treating patients with spleen deficiency wetness type subacute eczema, and its effect on the inflammatory factors and peripheral blood T lymphocyte subsets, so as to provide a theoretical basis for clinical treatment. Method: Totally 176 cases of spleen deficiency wetness type subacute eczema treated at our hospital from Jan. 2016 to Dec. 2017 were selected and randomly divided into control group (88 cases) and observation group (88 cases). Control group was treated with levocetirizine hydrochloride tablets and compound econazole nitrate gel, and observation group was given modified Shenling Baizhu San in addition to therapy of control group for 4 weeks. The clinical efficacy, pruritus score, severity index(EASI)score, dermatology quality of life scales(DQOLS) score and recurrence rate were observed,and inflammatory factor and peripheral blood T lymphocyte subgroup level were detected. Result: After treatment, the pruritus score and EASI score in observation group were lower than those before treatment (P<0.05), and those of observation group were significantly lower than those of control group (P<0.05). However, the DQOLS score was higher than that before treatment, and significantly higher than that of control group (P<0.05). The clinical effective rate of observation group was significantly higher than that of control group (P<0.05). After treatment, the levels of interleukins(IL)-1β, IL-2, IL-4, IL-5 and tumor necrosis factor(TNF) -α in observation group were lower than those before treatment (P<0.05), and the levels of CD4+ and CD4+/CD8+ were higher than those of before treatment, and significantly higher than those of control group (P<0.05). During the 6-month follow-up, the recurrence rate of observation group was significantly lower than that of control group (P<0.05). Conclusion: Modified Shenling Baizhu San could enhance the clinical efficacy by inhibiting the inflammatory reaction and regulating the immune function of patients.
8.Characteristics and Clinical Significance of CRLF2 Mutations in Adult Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia.

OBJECTIVECytokine receptor-like factor 2(CRLF2) plays an important role in the development of normal B lymphocytes, which can mediate early B cell proliferation and survival. The aim of this study was to investigate the mutations of CRLF2 and its clinical significance in adult patients with acute lymphoblastic leukemia(ALL).
METHODSExons of CRLF2 were amplified, then the DNA was purified and sequenced; the frequency, position, types and clinical significance of CRLF2 mutations were analyzed.
RESULTS6 types of genetic alterations in CRLF2 were found, among them the R186S prompted better prognosis, while L86I, F232F and W255C associated with poor prognosis.
CONCLUSIONCRLF2 mutations may play an important role in the development and progressions of adult patients with ALL, and these genetic abnormalities may associate with clinical outcome.
9.Study on influence of air temperature on daily chronic obstructive pulmonary disease mortality in Ningbo

Objective To study the influence of daily air temperature on daily chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) mortality in residents in Ningbo. Methods A time-series analysis using distributional lag non-linear model (DLNM) was conducted to estimate the attributable numbers and fraction of average air temperature on the daily COPD mortality in Ningbo from 2011 to 2016, by controlling the long-term time trend, day of week, air pollutants and other weather variables. Results A reverse J-shape relationship was found between the average air temperature and COPD mortality, and the minimum-mortality temperature (MMT) was 25.5℃. The relative risks of extreme low and extreme high air temperature over lag 0-14 d were 2.767 (95%CI: 1.950-3.928) and 1.197 (95%CI:1.021-1.404). In total, 31.62%(95%CI:23.05%-38.89%) of COPD mortality (4963 cases, 95%CI: 3469-6027) was attributable to non-MMT exposure, More attributable deaths were due to low air temperature, with a fraction of 30.41%corresponding to 4772 deaths, compared with 1.22%and 192 deaths due to high air temperature. Low air temperature and high temperature were more likely to influence the mortality in females and those aged ≥65 years, but the influence was not significant in people aged <65 years. Conclusion Both high and low air temperature were associated with an increased risk of COPD mortality in residents in Ningbo, especially during cold season, related measures on disease prevention should be taken to protect vulnerable population to reduce the risk of COPD mortality.
10.Mutation of IL-7R in Adult Patients with T-cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia and Its Clinical Significance.

OBJECTIVEInterleukin 7 (IL-7) and its receptor(IL-7R)are essential for normal T-cell development and homeostasis. This study was aimed to investigate the IL-7R mutation and its clinical significance in adult patients with adult acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL), particularly in T-ALL.
METHODSThe exons of IL-7R were amplified, cloned and sequenced in 144 adult patients with ALL; the frequency, position and lypes of IL-7R mutation were detected and their correlation with clinical features was analyzed.
RESULTS7.3% of T-ALL and 1.1% of B-ALL showed somatic IL-7R mutations which located at exon 6 and exon 5, respectively. Moreover, the IL-7R mutation was associated with poor clinical outcome in adult ALL patients. Furthermore, the co-existence of IL-7R mutation with NOTCH1 mutations and/or PHF6 mutation in T-ALL was observed.
CONCLUSIONIL-7R mulation and its associated signaling pathways may play an important role in the pathogenesis of T-ALL.
