A retrospective analysis was conducted on the clinical course of two children with PICALM-MLLT10-positive acute leukemia treated at Tongji Hospital, Tongji Medical College, Huazhong University of Science and Technology, between July 2021 and July 2023. The patients were diagnosed with acute T-lymphoblastic leukemia with central nervous system involvement and high-risk acute myeloid leukemia, respectively. Both achieved bone marrow complete remission after conventional chemotherapy combined with venetoclax. Following conversion to molecular negativity, they underwent sequential allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation. At the latest follow-up, both patients were alive and in good clinical condition. These observations suggest that proceeding to hematopoietic stem cell transplantation after venetoclax-based chemotherapy may improve the long-term survival of children with PICALM-MLLT10-positive leukemia.

Journal of Experimental Hematology 2025;33(2):319-324
OBJECTIVE:
To explore the clinical characteristics, therapeutic responses and prognostic features of E2A-PBX1 fusion gene for childhood acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL).
METHODS:
A total of 837 pediatric patients with ALL who were initially diagnosed in our hospital from July 2010 to November 2017 were retrospectively analyzed, 48 children with positive E2A-PBX1 fusion gene were detected by the real-time quantitative PCR techniques and their data were retrospectively collected for analysis.
RESULTS:
Among 48 cases with positive E2A-PBX1 fusion gene, there were 26 males and 22 females, with onset ages ranging from 9 months to 13 years old. There were 2 cases (4.2%) in the low-risk group, 32 cases (66.7%) in the intermediate-risk group, and 14 cases (29.1%) in the high-risk group at initial diagnosis. The white blood cell (WBC) counts of 25 cases (53.2%) at initial diagnosis were <50×109/L, 11 cases (23.4%) were (50-100)×109/L, and 11 cases (23.4%) ≥100×109/L. The main immunophenotype was common-B ALL (44 cases, 91.7%). Other leukemia fusion genes such as BCR-ABL1, MLL-AF4, and TEL-AML1 were not observed in this cohort of patients. All patients received the treatment of NPCLC-ALL2008 protocol, and 5 cases (10.4%) occurred poor prednisone response. All the 48 cases achieved complete remission (CR) after the induction treatments. The last follow-up date was April 30, 2023. A total of 5 children relapsed, including 1 case with intermediate risk and 4 cases with high risk. The recurrence rate in the high-risk group was significantly higher than that in the intermediate- and low-risk groups (both P < 0.05). Most relapsed children had elevated WBC counts at initial diagnosis. Among them, WBC counts ≥100×109/L was observed in 4 cases. The recurrence rate among children with WBC counts ≥100×109/L was significantly higher than that with WBC counts <100×109/L (P < 0.01). Four deaths occurred in this cohort, of which 3 died of leukemia recurrence. The 10-year event-free survival rate and 10-year overall survival rate of the 48 children with positive E2A-PBX1 fusion gene were 87.5%±4.8% and 91.7%±4.0%, respectively.
CONCLUSION
In ALL children with positive E2A-PBX1 fusion gene, those with elevated WBC counts and high risk stratification at initial diagnosis are more likely to experience recurrence. Recurrence is the main cause of death in this group. It is suggested that such kind of children receive more intensive chemotherapy or undergo hematopoietic stem cell transplantation as early as possible to further improve prognosis.

China Journal of Chinese Materia Medica 2025;50(14):3944-3950
This study established the HPLC fingerprints and a multi-component content determination method for Bidens pilosa var. radiata and B. pilosa and conducted comprehensive evaluation by integrating fingerprint similarity comparison, cluster analysis(CA), and principal component analysis(PCA), aiming to provide a reference for the establishment of quality standards for Bidentis Herba. HPLC was launched on an Agilent Poroshell 120 EC-C_(18) chromatographic column(4.6 mm×250 mm, 4 μm) by gradient elution with a mobile phase of 0.1% aqueous phosphoric acid-acetonitrile at a flow rate of 0.7 mL·min~(-1), detection wavelength of 270 nm, column temperature of 25 ℃, and an injection volume of 5 μL. The fingerprint similarity of 20 batches of Bidentis Herba ranged from 0.775 to 0.979. A total of 20 common peaks were identified, and seven components were confirmed through comparison with reference substances: neochlorogenic acid, chlorogenic acid, isochlorogenic acid A, isochlorogenic acid B, isochlorogenic acid C, rutin, and hyperoside. These seven components exhibited good linearity within the ranges of 3.4-67.4, 33.0-660.3, 26.6-531.2, 3.5-70.5, 6.2-124.9, 2.4-48.3, and 4.6-91.5 μg·mL~(-1), respectively, with correlation coefficients(r) greater than 0.999. The average recovery rates ranged from 96.47% to 104.6%. CA and PCA classified the 20 batches of Bidentis Herba into two categories. PCA yielded two principal components, with a cumulative variance contribution rate of 80.557%. The established HPLC fingerprints and multi-component content determination method are simple and accurate, providing a scientific basis for the quality control and quality standard formulation of Bidentis Herba.

Journal of Preventive Medicine 2025;37(12):1257-1260,1265
Objective:
To evaluate the radiation dose, operational standardization, and image quality of computed tomography (CT) Ningbo City Medical Imaging Cloud Platform, so as to provide references for optimizing the quality of CT examinations.
Methods:
Six CT devices were randomly selected from the Ningbo City Medical Imaging Cloud Platform. Digital Imaging and Communication in Medicine (DICOM) image data from CT examinations of the head, neck, chest, and abdomen in males aged 36 to 60 years were collected from January 2023 to December 2024. The radiation dose levels were evaluated using the volume CT dose index (CTDIvol) and dose length product (DLP). The coefficient of variation (CV) of CTDIvol and scan length were calculated to assess scan stability. Operational standardization was evaluated using the redundancy rate of scan length and protocol matching degree. Imaging quality was assessed using the signal to noise ratio (SNR) and contrast to noise ratio (CNR).
Results:
A total of 28 897 DICOM images were collected, including 6 730 axial scans of the skull, 2 778 plain scans of the neck, 15 496 plain scans of the chest, and 3 893 plain scans of the abdomen. The typical values of CTDIvol and DLP radiation doses for the head, neck, and chest were all lower than the diagnostic reference levels. The maximum typical values of CTDIvol and DLP for the abdomen were 22.49 mGy and 941.45 mGy·cm, respectively, which were higher than the diagnostic reference levels. The CV values of CTDIvol and scan length ranged from 14.59% to 37.88% and from 8.27% to 44.96%, respectively. The scan stability of head CT was relatively poor, with CV values ranging from 21.74% to 37.88% and from 12.66% to 44.96%, respectively. The redundancy rate of scan length ranged from 6.02% to 74.40%, and the protocol matching degree ranged from 79.80% to 100.00%. The operational standardization of neck CT was relatively poor, with redundancy rates ranging from 45.70% to 74.40% and protocol matching degrees ranging from 79.80% to 95.36%. The mean SNR and mean CNR of the pulmonary arteries in the chest were relatively high, ranging from 15.81 to 17.65 and from 6.33 to 7.41, respectively.
Conclusions
The radiation doses from abdominal CT examinations on some CT devices exceed the diagnostic reference levels. The scan stability of head CT examinations and the operational standardization of neck CT examinations represent weak points in quality control. It is recommended to carry out targeted quality control training to enhance the overall quality level of CT examinations.

Objective:To analyze the 2011-to-2023 baseline data on, and the variations theirin, malignant tumor mortality for the surrounding residents prior to operation of the Jin-Qimen nuclear power plant at Xiangshan county, Zhejiang province, for pursose of providing scientific basis for evaluating the health impacts of nuclear power plant operation. Methods:Data on malignant tumor mortality and population in Xiangshan county from 2011 to 2023 were collected from the Ningzhou Cause of Death Monitoring System and the Ningzhou Public Security Bureau. Crude death rates and standardized rates (China standard population) were calculated. The Joinpoint regression model was used to analyze annual percentage change (APC) and average annual percentage change (AAPC).Results:The average annual malignant tumor mortality from 2011 to 2023 was 212.42 deaths per 100 000 population (age-standardized rate: 133.16 deaths per 100 000 population), with males at 287.41 deaths per 100 000 and females at 135.40 deaths per 100 000 population. The crude mortality exhibited an upward trend (AAPC=1.264%, t=5.07, P<0.05), while the age-standardized rate showed a significant downward trend (AAPC=-2.753%, t=-10.50, P<0.05). Mortality increased with age ( χ2=23 903.91, P<0.05), peaking in the ≥85 age group (1 693.11 per 100 000), and rising trends were observed in males ( χ2=16 982.46, P<0.05) and females ( χ2=7 329.05, P<0.05). Leading causes included lung cancer, liver cancer, gastric cancer, colorectal cancer, and pancreatic cancer. Liver cancer, gastric cancer, and esophageal cancer showed declining trends, whereas prostate cancer increased. Radiation-sensitive tumors (e.g., leukemia, breast cancer, thyroid cancer) displayed no significant trends. Among individuals under the age of 30, leukemia and brain/nervous system cancers predominated; for those aged 30-79, the lung, liver, and gastric cancers were dominant; and for the group aged 80 and above, the lung, gastric, and colorectal cancers were dominant. Malignant tumor mortality increased with distance from the nuclear facility ( χ2=6.90, P<0.05), significantly in males ( χ2=10.42, P<0.05) but not in females ( P>0.05). Leukemia, breast cancer, and thyroid cancer mortality showed no significant trends ( P>0.05). Conclusions:The age-standardized mortality rate for malignant tumors in Xiangshan county demonstrated an overall declining trend, with notable changes in specific cancers. Leukemia, breast cancer, and thyroid cancer mortality remained relatively stable. These baseline findings provide a scientific basis for health impact assessments of nuclear power plants and sustainable nuclear energy development.

Objective:To establish a three-dimensional navigation process for design and resection of perforator flaps based on multi-detector computed tomography angiography (MDCTA) and to explore its clinical application effects. Methods:This study was a retrospective observational study. From January 2021 to October 2023, 7 patients and 6 patients with post-traumatic skin and soft tissue defects in extremity and conformed to the inclusion criteria were admitted to the Affiliated Hospital of Jiangsu University and Wuxi No. 9 People's Hospital, respectively. There were 8 males and 5 females, aged 21 to 68 years. Nine patients had wounds on the hand and 4 patients had wounds on the foot. The wound area after debridement ranged from 8.0 cm×6.0 cm to 18.0 cm×17.0 cm. Through the three-dimensional navigation process based on MDCTA, 14 perforator flaps were designed and resected, including 11 free anterolateral thigh perforator flaps and 3 pedicled peroneal artery perforator flaps with sural nerve nutritional vessel chain, with flap size ranging from 9.0 cm×6.0 cm to 20.0 cm×15.0 cm. Six wounds in the flap donor sites were directly sutured, and eight wounds in the flap donor sites were transplanted with skin grafts. The consistency of the location, type, and source of the perforators was compared between the preoperative navigation display and actual intraoperative detection. Immediately after surgery, the coverage of wound by the flap was evaluated according to the self-made criteria. The postoperative flap survival was observed. The occurrence of complications was observed during follow-up. At the last follow-up, the appearance of the flaps was observed, the blood supply of the flaps and the hand function of the 9 patients with hand trauma were evaluated according to the trial standards for evaluation of partial function of upper extremity by the Hand Surgery Society of Chinese Medical Association, and the foot function of the 4 patients with foot trauma was assessed using the American Orthopaedic Foot & Ankle Society Ankle-Hindfoot Scoring System. Results:The location, type, and source of the perforators displayed in preoperative navigation were consistent with the actual intraoperative detection. Immediately after surgery, the coverage of the wounds by 11 flaps was rated as excellent, and that of 3 flaps was rated as moderate. Postoperatively, 13 flaps survived completely, and 1 flap had partial necrosis, which healed after a full-thickness skin grafting from the thigh. Patients were followed up for 4 to 24 months postoperatively, one patient developed a hematoma under the flap, and one patient had local infection. At the last follow-up, the flaps of all patients were good in color and texture, and 5 patients with bloated flaps post operation had good appearance after thinning surgery; the blood supply was excellent in 12 flaps and was good in 2 flaps; among patients with hand trauma, the hand function was rated as excellent in 2 cases, good in 4 cases, and poor in 3 cases; among patients with foot trauma, the foot function was rated as excellent in 3 cases and good in 1 case. Conclusions:The three-dimensional navigation process for design and resection of perforator flaps based on MDCTA realizes precise evaluation of perforator vessels in flap donor sites and skin and soft tissue defects in the recipient sites. Guided by the three-dimensional navigation process, the application of free anterolateral thigh perforator flaps and pedicled peroneal artery perforator flaps with sural nerve nutritional vessel chain in repairing skin and soft tissue defects in extremity realizes precise surgery, reducing flap donor site injury and achieving excellent clinical outcomes.
