1.Research progress on female reproductive toxicity of bisphenols

Bisphenols (BPs) are extensively used in food packaging, personal care products, and plastics, making them prevalent in both living and working environments, which has raised significant concern. As endocrine-disrupting chemicals, BPs exert toxic effects on the female reproductive system by binding to estrogen receptors, thereby activating or inhibiting the expression of genes related to reproductive functions, which disrupts the normal function of the endocrine system. This paper reviewed the effects of bisphenol A (BPA), bisphenol S (BPS), and bisphenol F (BPF) on female reproductive function, focusing on three key aspects: the effects on the female reproductive organs, the occurrence of associated reproductive disorders, and the mechanisms of toxicity. Specifically, this review highlighted the effects on ovarian function, uterine morphology and function, and fallopian tube function, as well as their correlation with polycystic ovary syndrome, endometriosis, miscarriage, and eclampsia. Additionally, the toxic mechanisms of BPs exposure were summarized, providing a scientific basis for future research on the impact of BPs on the female reproductive system, as well as for the assessment of potential health risks and the development of preventive measures.
2.Staged treatment for 32 cases of ankylosing spondylitis with different acupuncture methods based on jingjin theory.

OBJECTIVE:
To observe the clinical efficacy of different acupuncture methods in the treatment of ankylosing spondylitis (AS) at different stages.
METHODS:
Thirty-two patients with AS were treated with acupuncture at ashi points (tendon focus), triple acupuncture method was used in the acute phase, accompanied needling method was used in the remission phase, once a day, 5 times a week for 4 weeks. The Bath ankylosing spondylitis disease activity index (BASDAI) score, Bath ankylosing spondylitis functional index (BASFI) score and TCM symptom grade quantitative standard score before and after treatment were observed, and the efficacy was evaluated.
RESULTS:
After treatment, the BASDAI score, BASFI score and TCM symptom grade quantitative standard score were reduced compared with those before treatment (P<0.01), the effective rate was 96.9% (31/32).
CONCLUSION
Different acupuncture methods in the treatment of AS at different stages could improve signs and symptoms, such as pain, activity limitation and morning stiffness.

3.Self-management experiences in breast cancer-related lymphedema patients: a Meta-synthesis

Objective:To systematically integrate the real experiences of self-management in breast cancer-related lymphedema (BCRL) patients and provide evidence for optimizing home self-management support strategies.Methods:A computer-based search was conducted in PubMed, Web of Science, CINAHL, Embase, Cochrane Library, China Biology Medicine disc, China National Knowledge Infrastructure, Wanfang Database, and VIP Database for qualitative studies on self-management experiences in BCRL patients, with the search period extending from the inception of each database to November 30, 2023. The quality of the included studies was assessed using the Joanna Briggs Institute Critical Appraisal Checklist for Qualitative Research, and the results were synthesized using an integrative approach.Results:A total of 20 articles were included, with 87 research findings extracted and summarized into 11 new categories, which were integrated into 4 main outcomes: the psychological, family function, and social adaptation associated with lymphedema symptoms; the multiple factors affecting patients' self-management of lymphedema; varied levels of self-management participation and coping behaviors; diverse self-management support needs.Conclusions:Healthcare professionals need to address the barriers and needs of patients performing self-management of lymphedema at home. By integrating coping resources and enhancing self-regulation and self-management capabilities, healthcare providers can help patients adapt to and cope with lymphedema more effectively.
4.Association between bile acid metabolism and insomnia from the"all the eleven zang organs depend on the gallbladder"theory

Insomnia is a prevalent disorder characterized by difficulties in falling asleep or maintaining sleep.Chronic insomnia can severely impair physical and mental health,as well as quality of life.The traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)theory,"all the eleven zang organs depend on the gallbladder,"is derived from the chapter of Discussion on Six-Plus-Six System and the Manifestations of Organs of Plain Questions.It highlights the pivotal role of the gallbladder in maintaining visceral function.The gallbladder governs decision-making and plays a central role in sleep regulation by modulating spleen-stomach transportation and transformation,dispersing qi movement throughout the body,harmonizing yin and yang,and modulating ying and wei systems.Research has demonstrated that bile acids correspond closely with the gallbladder's TCM functions of"governing the earth zang"and"regulating the eleven zang organs,"serving as a crucial material basis for gallbladder physiology.Dysregulation of bile acid metabolism may contribute to insomnia through multiple pathways,including gastrointestinal dysfunction,disruption of gut microbiota balance,induction of neuroinflammation,and circadian rhythm disturbances.This study proposes that bile acid metabolism disorder may constitute a key pathological mechanism linking gallbladder dysfunction—according to TCM theory—to insomnia.Based on clinical experience,novel therapeutic strategies are proposed under the framework of"regulating the gallbladder to tranquilize mind",including the use of gallbladder-related materials,prioritized application of liver-regulating herbs,and implementation of a sleep rhythm reconstruction protocol.
5.Exploration of the regulatory mechanism of norcantharidin on sine oculis homeobox homolog 4 in colon cancer using transcriptome sequencing and bioinformatic

ObjectiveTo explore the key molecules regulated by norcantharidin (NCTD) in colon cancer treatment.MethodsWe used cell counting kit-8 and 5-ethnyl-2′-deoxyuridine/Hoechst staining assays to study the effects of NCTD on cell proliferation in colon cancer. Annexin V-fluorescein isothiocyanate/propidium iodide staining was used to evaluate apoptosis, whereas Transwell assays were conducted to evaluate migration and invasion. We performed RNA sequencing to analyze the changes in gene expression after treatment. Differential analysis was performed using differential expression sequencing 2 (Deseq2) in R. Cytoscape was used to construct a competing endogenous RNA (ceRNA) network and Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO) datasets were used to validate sine oculis homeobox homolog 4 (SIX4) expression in colon cancer tissues. Furthermore, the prognostic potential of SIX4 was evaluated using receiver-operating characteristic curves. We conducted an immune infiltration analysis to explore the SIX4 relationship with the immune microenvironment in colon cancer. Finally, SIX4 expression, pan-cancer prognosis, tumor mutation burden (TMB) correlations, microsatellite instability (MSI), and mismatch repair (MMR) were analyzed.ResultsNCTD inhibited colon cancer cell proliferation (P .0001), induced apoptosis (P = .0007), and suppressed the migration and invasion of colon cancer cells. The H19/miR-193b-3p/SIX4 axis was identified as the key ceRNA network involved in the anticancer activity of NCTD. SIX4 is highly expressed in colon cancer tissues, shortening patient survival and affecting immune infiltration. A pan-cancer analysis showed that SIX4 overexpression affects the survival of various cancers. Finally, we correlated SIX4 expression with TMB, MSI, and MMR expression.ConclusionNCTD inhibits the malignant behaviour of colon cancer cells. SIX4 is abnormally expressed in multiple tumor types, significantly affecting the overall survival of patients with cancer, and is a core regulatory target of NCTD in the treatment of colon cancer.

Finite element method, as a verified numerical simulation method, has been widely applied in the biomechanical research of clear aligner treatment. The accuracy of its calculation results is closely related to the construction method of the finite element model. This paper takes the finite element modeling process of clear aligner treatment as a clue, and reviews the modeling methods of relevant research in recent years, aiming to provide reference for subsequent studies.
7.Mitochondrial preconditioning of pericytes attenuates pulmonary vascular leakage in sepsis-induced rats

Objective To investigate the protective effects of mitochondrial preconditioning in pericytes(PC)against pulmonary vascular leakage in septic rats.Methods ① 128 specific-pathogen-free SD rats(equal gender,200±20 g)were randomized into:Sham group(postoperative tail vein injection of 0.5 mL saline),Sepsis(Sep)group(CLP+saline),PC group(CLP+untreated PC:106 cells/rat),and Mito-PC group(CLP+PC preconditioned with 2 μg mitochondria/104 cells for 12 h).Assessments included:PC lung colonization(flow cytometry),pulmonary barrier function(Evans blue assay),lung histopathology(HE staining),serum organ injury markers[cTnT(cardiac),urea/creatinine(renal)],and inflammatory cytokines(TNF-α,IL-6).② MSC-derived mitochondria were validated by electron microscopy/flow cytometry;primary retinal PCs from weaned SD rats were purity-verified(confocal microscopy).In vitro groups:Control(PC),Mito-PC,PC+H2O2(0.5 μmol/L,4 h),and Mito-PC+H2O2.Antioxidant capacity was assessed via pentose phosphate pathway(PPP)activity,NADPH levels,G6PD activity,and NADP+/NADPH ratio.Results① Compared with Sham,Sep group showed significant increase in pulmonary leakage(Evans blue P<0.05),severe lung injury,elevated serum markers(TNF-α,IL-6,cTnT,urea,creatinine all P<0.05),0%72 h survival.PC group showed partial improvement(P<0.05).Mito-PC group demonstrated significant reduction in vascular leakage(P<0.05 vs PC group),improved histopathology and organ function(P<0.05),attenuated inflammation(P<0.05),higher 72 h survival rate(P<0.05).② Mitochondrial preconditioning significantly enhanced PPP activation and NADPH-mediated antioxidative capacity,Mito-PC+H2O2 vs PC+H2O2 showed improved cell viability(P<0.05),Mito-PC vs PC showed increased G6PD activity(P<0.05),decreased NADP+/NADPH ratio(P<0.05).Conclusion Mitochondrial preconditioning potentiates pericyte-mediated protection against sepsis-induced pulmonary vascular leakage through enhanced pentose phosphate pathway activity.Mitochondrial preconditioning potentiates pericyte-mediated protection against sepsis-induced pulmonary vascular leakage through enhanced pentose phosphate pathway activity.
