Cetuximab, a representative agent for targeted therapy of epidermal growth factor receptor, is widely used in the treatment of cancers including head and neck squamous cell carcinoma. However, due to the side effects associated with cetuximab and the comorbidities developed in patients with head and neck squamous cell carcinoma during the treatment, there are certain difficulties in its clinical application. This article summarizes the relevant mechanisms and research progress of cetuximab in the treatment of squamous cell carcinoma of head and neck, providing insights and clinical basis for the formulation of treatment plans.

Adenoid cystic carcinoma (ACC) is a salivary gland malignant tumor which mainly occurs in the head, neck and the mammary gland, and is characterized with easy invasion of peripheral nerves, local easy recurrence after resection and painless distant metastasis. The treatment of ACC is usually based on surgical resection combined with postoperative radiotherapy. Patients with advanced disease usually cannot be cured, so far there is no ideal treatment regimen. Some studies have suggested that some targeted drugs show advantages in ACC patients who are insensitive or resistant to conventional therapy. This paper summarizes the research progress of molecular targeted therapy for ACC of salivary gland in order to provide new treatment options for ACC patients especially for those at advanced stage.

Objective:To investigate the association of the rsl801133 polymorphisms of the methylenetetrahydrofolate reductase (MTHFR)gene and rs2236225 polymorphisms of the methylenetetrahydrofolate dehydrogenase(MTHFD1)gene with non-syndromic cleft lip with or without cleft palate (NSCL/P)in Chinese population of Shanxi Province.Methods:The rsl801133 polymorphism of MTHFR gene and rs2236225 polymorphism of MTHFD1 gene were examined by PCR-RFLP in 265 patients with NSCL/P and 276 healthy controls.Data were statistically analysed.Results:The genotypic distribution of rsl801133 and rs2236225 was not deviated from the Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium.There was no significant difference in allele frequencies of rsl801133 and rs2236225 variants between patients with NSCL/P and healthy individuals(P <0.05).Conclusion:The polymorphism of MTHFR gene and MTHFD1 gene was not associated with NSCL/P in Chinese population of Shanxi Province.

Objective To investigate the expression of VEGF-D and MMP-2 and explore their relationship with tumor invasion and local metastasis in pancreatic carcinoma.Methods The expression of VEGF-D and MMP-2 in 30 patients with pancreatic carcinomas and 6 cases with normal pancreatic tissues were detected by SABC immunohistochemical method.Results The positive rates of VEGF-D and MMP-2 proteins were 60%(18/30)and 66.7%(20/30)respectively,no expression of VEGF-D and MMP-2 was detected in normal pancreatie tissues.The expression of VEGF-D was significantly correlated with lymph node metastasis(P＜0.05),and the expression of MMP-2 was significantly correlated with lymph node metastasis and tumor local invasion(P＜0.05).The expression of VEGF-D protein Was positively correlated with MMP-2 protein(rs=0.54,P＜0.01).Conclusions There is a significantly positive correlation between high expression of VEGF-D and MMP-2 proteins in pancreatic carcinoma,and they may contribute to the invasive properties of pancreatic cancer.

Objective To investigate if there is a synergism of kansui root and low molecular weight heparin(LMWH) in combined treatment of SAP in rats.Methods SD rats were randomly divided into 5 groups:Sham group(A group),severe acute pancreatitis group(B group),kansui root treatment group(C group),LMWH treatment group(D group),combined treatment group(E group).The serum TNF-?,IL-6 level and the ratio of TXB2/6-keto-PGF1? in pancreatic tissue,and the histological examination were evaluated.Results The values of TNF-??IL-6 and the ratio of TXB2/6-keto-PGF1? in C,D,E group were significantly lower than those in B group at the time point of 6,12,24h.But there were no significant differences in C,D,E group at all the time points.The histological examination showed that the pancreas was normal in group A;the pathological changes were milder in C,D,E group than that in B group.Conclusions Combined treatment of kansui root and LMWH was effective in SAP,but there was no synergism,and also no side effects.
