1.Study on the in vivo effects of 5T magnetic resonance imaging on the dental pulp and periodontal ligament in young adults

Objective:
To evaluate the performance of 5T magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) in visualizing dental pulp and periodontal ligament (PDL) tissues in vivo in the young adult population, thereby providing a basis for the application of high-field MRI technology in clinical oral examinations.
Methods:
The study was approved by the Ethics Committee of the hospital. A total of 15 healthy volunteers (413 permanent teeth altogether) were recruited and underwent full-mouth 5T MRI scans. Among them, six volunteers (168 permanent teeth) also received both 3T MRI and cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) scans. Two dental specialists independently evaluated the imaging quality of the dental pulp and PDL on the images using a 5-point Likert scale and recorded the number of detectable root canals for each tooth. Inter-rater agreement was assessed using weighted kappa statistics and intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC). Non-parametric tests were employed to compare differences in imaging performance among different tissue structures, tooth positions, and imaging modalities.
Results:
5T MRI can achieve in vivo imaging for most dental pulp tissues and partial periodontal membrane structures. There was a high level of agreement between the two raters in their imaging scores for the dental pulp and PDL (dental pulp κ = 0.934, PDL κ = 0.737). The imaging scores for dental pulp were significantly higher than those for PDL (P < 0.001), and the scores for molar dental pulp were lower than those for premolars and anterior teeth. In the multimodal comparison involving six volunteers, the raters showed good consistency in scoring dental pulp and PDL imaging across 5T MRI, 3T MRI, and CBCT, as well as in root canal counts (5T MRI for dental pulp κ = 0.971, 3T MRI for dental pulp κ = 0.933, CBCT for dental pulp κ = 0.964; 5T MRI for PDL κ = 0.625, 3T MRI for PDL κ = 0.667, CBCT for PDL κ = 0.571; ICC for root canal counts all ≥ 0.990). The imaging scores for dental pulp and PDL using 5T MRI were significantly higher than those using 3T MRI (dental pulp: P < 0.001; PDL: P = 0.022), but there was no statistically significant difference in the detection rate of the number of root canals between the two (P > 0.05). Although the imaging scores for dental pulp and PDL as well as the detection rate of the number of root canals with 5T MRI were inferior to those with CBCT (dental pulp: P < 0.001; PDL: P = 0.02; number of root canals: P < 0.05), 5T MRI can truly achieve "direct imaging" of these two soft tissues.
Conclusion
5T MRI enables effective in vivo direct imaging of dental pulp and PDL tissues in the young adult population, indicating its potential clinical application value in the diagnosis and treatment of pulp and periodontal diseases.
2.The dual roles of NCompass nitinol stone retrieval basket in ureteroscopic holmium laser lithotripsy for upper ureteral stones larger than 1 cm

Objective To analyze the application of NCompass nitinol stone retrieval basket in ureteroscopic holmium laser lithotripsy, and to evaluate its roles in reducing stone retropulsion and improving stone-free rate(SFR)and stone acquisition rate.Methods A retrospective analysis was conducted on the data of patients with upper ureteral stones>1 cm who underwent ureteroscopic holmium laser lithotripsy at China-Japan Friendship Hospital during Jan.2018 and Dec.2023, including 96 cases were in the NCompass group, and 68 cases in the non-basket group.The operation time, stone retropulsion rate, usage rate of flexible ureteroscopy, SFR and stone acquisition rate were compared between the two groups.Results There were no significant differences in the operation time [(29.2±8.4)min vs.(30.9±7.2)min, P=0.170] and stone retropulsion rate(15.6% vs. 27.9%, P=0.055)between the NCompass group and non-basket group.The NCompass group had significantly lower usage rate of flexible ureteroscopy than the non-basket group(24.0% vs. 47.1%, P=0.002), higher SFR 2 days(80.2% vs. 45.6%, P<0.001)and 1 month(93.8% vs. 83.8%, P=0.040)after operation, as well as the stone acquisition rates 2 days(100% vs. 44.1%, P<0.001)and 1 month(100% vs. 58.8%, P<0.001)after operation. Conclusion The NCompass nitinol stone retrieval basket plays dual roles in ureteroscopic holmium laser lithotripsy, which can effectively intercept stones and extract stone fragments, thus significantly improving the SFR and stone acquisition rate, and reducing stone retropulsion and the use of flexible ureteroscopy.
3.Application of transcranial electrical stimulation in Alzheimer's disease: a bibliometric analysis

ObjectiveTo systematically sort out literatures on transcranial electrical stimulation (tES) for Alzheimer's disease (AD), and clarify the research status, core hotspots and evolutionary trends in this field. MethodsRelated literatures published from the inception of Web of Science Core Collection to March, 2026 were retrieved. Bibliometric and visual analyses were conducted via VOSviewer, CiteSpace, Scimago Graphica and Bibliometrix R package. ResultsA total of 225 papers were included. The annual publication volume showed an overall upward trend with rapid growth after 2019 and a peak in 2025. China ranked first with 60 publications, while the United States gained the highest total citations and the broadest international collaborations. Harvard University and Alvaro Pascual-Leone were the leading institution and core author, respectively, and Journal of Alzheimer's Disease published the most relevant papers. High-frequency keywords included Alzheimer's disease, transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS) and memory. Current researches mainly focused on various tES intervention modes, individualized stimulation targets and parameter optimization. ConclusionResearches on tES for AD are developing rapidly, and mostly focus on clinical efficacy evaluation of transcranial direct current stimulation.

In response to the clinical needs of cancer treatment and rehabilitation, Professor Lin Hongsheng proposed the Wuzhi Wuyang (five treatments and rehabilitation) concept on the basis of years of clinical experience and the Guben Qingyuan (consolidate the foundation and clear the source) theory. Wuzhi Wuyang emphasizes the importance of treatment and rehabilitation and aims to provide personalized and stage-specific treatment and rehabilitation plans by integrating the advantages of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) and modern medicine to achieve comprehensive life-cycle management for patients with cancer. The proposal of Wuzhi Wuyang has provided new ideas and methods for the treatment, prevention, and rehabilitation of cancer, along with valuable references for clinical practice and academic research. This article summarizes the connotation of Wuzhi Wuyang and its application in the comprehensive management of cancer prevention and treatment with TCM.
5.Plasma club cell secretory protein reflects early lung injury: comprehensive epidemiological evidence.

BACKGROUND:
It is inaccurate to reflect the level of dust exposure through working years. Furthermore, identifying a predictive indicator for lung function decline is significant for coal miners. The study aimed to explored whether club cell secretory protein (CC16) levels can reflect early lung function changes.
METHODS:
The cumulative respiratory dust exposure (CDE) levels of 1,461 coal miners were retrospectively assessed by constructed a job-exposure matrix to replace working years. Important factors affecting lung function and CC16 were selected by establishing random forest models. Subsequently, the potential of CC16 to reflect lung injury was explored from multiple perspectives. First, restricted cubic spline (RCS) models were used to compare the trends of changes in lung function indicators and plasma CC16 levels after dust exposure. Then mediating analysis was performed to investigate the role of CC16 in the association between dust exposure and lung function decline. Finally, the association between baseline CC16 levels and follow-up lung function was explored.
RESULTS:
The median CDE were 35.13 mg/m3-years. RCS models revealed a rapid decline in forced vital capacity (FVC), forced expiratory volume in the first second (FEV1), and their percentages of predicted values when CDE exceeded 25 mg/m3-years. The dust exposure level (<5 mg/m3-years) causing significant changes in CC16 was much lower than the level (25 mg/m3-years) that caused changes in lung function indicators. CC16 mediated 11.1% to 26.0% of dust-related lung function decline. Additionally, workers with low baseline CC16 levels experienced greater reductions in lung function in the future.
CONCLUSIONS
CC16 levels are more sensitive than lung indicators in reflecting early lung function injury and plays mediating role in lung function decline induced by dust exposure. Low baseline CC16 levels predict poor future lung function.

6.Application of Castor branching stent in treating Stanford type B aortic dissection:preliminary results

Objective To investigate the efficacy of Castor branching stent in treating Stanford type B aortic dissection(TBAD)involving aortic arch.Methods The clinical data of 18 patients with Stanford TBAD,who were treated with Castor branching stent at the Suining Municipal Central Hospital of China from January 2020 to January 2022,were retrospectively analyzed.Results The main bracket and branch bracket of Castor branching stent were successfully released in all the 18 patients with a surgical success rate of 100%,and no internal leakage occurred during operation.During the perioperative period,there were neither aorta-related deaths nor serious complications such as stroke,upper limb ischemia,internal leakage,or stent displacement.The patients were followed up for(14.7±8.3)months,no aorta-related death,stroke,upper limb ischemia,internal leakage,or stent displacement was observed,the blood flow of the left subclavian artery(LSA)was unobstructed,but there was thrombosis formation within the false lumen of the covered stent segment.Conclusion The Castor branching stent has the advantages of reasonable release mode,accurate positioning,effective isolation of the first rupture of Stanford TBAD and reconstruction of LSA,with no serious short-term complications.However,further follow-up observation is needed before its long-term efficacy can be clarified.
7.Farrerol relaxes isolated pulmonary arteries in C57BL/6J mice by activating Kv channel

Aim To study the diastolic effect and mechanism of farrerol on isolated pulmonary arteries of C57BL/6J mice.Methods After anesthesia,mouse lung tissue was quickly removed and placed into the 4 ℃ K-H buffer,pulmonary arteries were isolated under the microscope and cut into 2 mm long vascular rings for spare use.(1)The effect of farrerol on the resting tension of isolated mouse pulmonary arteries:in the resting state,the active mouse pul-monary artery rings were treated with different concentrations of farrerol(10-6,3×10-6,10-5,3×10-5 and 10-4 mol/L).(2)Farrerol relaxed mouse pulmonary artery experiment:pulmonary arteries were contracted using phenylephrine(PE,1 μmol/L)or KCl(60 mmol/L),and when the contraction reached the platform,different concentrations of farrerol(10-6,3×10-6,10-5,3×10-5 and 10-4 mol/L)was added.(3)Farrerol inhibited pulmonary artery contraction experi-ment:under conditions with or without the addition of farrerol,pulmonary arteries were contracted using different concen-trations of PE(10-9,3×10-9,10-8,3 × 10-8,10-7,3×10-7 and 10-6 mol/L)or KCl(20,30,40,60,80 and 120 mmol/L),and the pulmonary artery muscle tension was recorded.(4)Calcium free and recalcification experiments:under conditions with or without the addition of farrerol,the changes of isolated mouse pulmonary artery tension were meas-ured in the state of calcium free or recalcification { 2.5 mmol/L[Ca2+]ex }.(5)The relationship between farrerol in-duced relaxation of isolated mouse pulmonary arteries and potassium ion channels:firstly,60 mmol/L KCl solution was used to contract the mouse pulmonary arteries until the platform.Then,3 mmol/L aminopyridine(4-AP),2 mmol/L tet-raethylammonium(TEA),30 μmol/L BaCl2,and 10 μmol/L glibenclamide(Gli)were added and treated for 15 min.Subsequently,the pulmonary arteries were relaxed using a concentration gradient of farrerol.Results Farrerol had no significant effect on the mouse pulmonary arteries in the resting state,but had a concentration-dependent relaxing effect on the mouse pulmonary arteries pre-contracted with PE and KCl.While the pretreatment of 3×10-5 mol/L farrerol could sig-nificantly reduce the maximum contraction of mouse pulmonary arteries induced by PE and KCl(P<0.01),as well as sig-nificantly reduce the contraction of mouse pulmonary arteries induced by KCl under calcium free or recalcification conditions(P<0.01).Addition of the voltage-dependent potassium ion channel blocker 4-AP significantly reduced the maximum diastolic rate of mouse pulmonary arteries induced by farrerol(P<0.01),while addition of the high conductivity calcium activated potassium ion channel blocker TEA,inward rectifying potassium ion channel blocker BaCl2,or ATP sensitive po-tassium ion channel blocker Gli had no significant effect on the vasodilation effect of farrerol(P>0.05).Conclusion Farrerol has a relaxing effect on isolated mouse pulmonary arteries,and its mechanism may be related to open voltage-de-pendent potassium ion channels.

Objective To study the plasma metabolomics of mice poisoned by different dosage of the combination of diazepam and ethanol,and to reveal the toxicological mechanisms of combined poisoning of diazepam and ethanol.Methods Female Kunming mice were randomly divided into blank group,single and combined poisoning group(n=6),Based on the LD50 of diazepam co-administered with graded ethanol doses,mice in the single-drug and combined groups received oral gavage at 1/2,1,and 2 × LD50.Retro-orbital blood samples(~500 μL)were collected within 24 hours post-administration and analyzed by UPLC-QE-MS technology.Principal component analysis and orthogonal partial least squares discriminant analysis were used to identify differential metabolites and associated metabolic pathways.Results A total of 387 differential metabolites were identified in the combined poisoning group of diazepam and ethanol implicating the key pathways including tryptophan metabolism,phenylalanine metabolism,arginine and proline metabolism,Glycerophospholipid metabolism,phenylalanine,tyrosine and tryptophan biosynthesis.Conclusion Combined diazepam and ethanol poisoning exerts significant systemic effects by disrupting neurotransmitters conduction,exacerbating oxidative stress response and dysregulating energy metabolism.

10.Clinical observation of Jiawei Ditan decoction in the treatment of acute cerebral infarction of phlegm and stasis obstruction type and its effect on serum inflammatory factors

Objective To investigate the clinical efficacy of Jiawei Ditan decoction in the treatment of patients with acute cerebral infarction(ACI)with phlegm and stasis obstruction type and its effect on serum inflammatory factors.Methods From August 2022 to January 2024,60 patients with phlegm and stasis obstructed type ACI who were hospitalized in the People's Hospital Affiliated to Fujian University of Traditional Chinese Medicine were selected and randomly divided into control group and observation group,30 cases in each group.The control group received the conventional Western medicine treatment program,while the observation group was intervened on the basis of control group with the addition of Jiawei Ditan decoction.After 2 weeks of treatment,the efficacy and mechanism of action with ACI patients were evaluated by traditional Chinese medicine syndrome score,National Institute of Health stroke scale(NIHSS),modified Barthel index(MBI),and serum matrix metalloproteinase-9(MMP-9),interleukin-6(IL-6),high sensitivity C-reactive protein(hs-CRP),and homocysteine(Hcy)levels.Results After treatment,traditional Chinese medicine syndrome improvement in observation group demonstrated a markedly greater total efficacy rate than that in control group,with statistical significance(P<0.05).Both groups showed improvements in NIHSS and MBI scores compared to pre-treatment levels,with observation group demonstrating more significant improvements(P<0.05).Additionally,post-intervention,MMP-9,IL-6,hs-CRP,and Hcy levels showed a decline in both groups,with a more significant decrease observed in observation group(P<0.05).Conclusion Jiawei Ditan decoction may effectively reduce the inflammatory response of phlegm stasis obstructive type ACI by down-regulating the serum levels of MMP-9,IL-6,hs-CRP and Hcy,thereby improving neurological deficits and improving patients'daily living ability,which has certain clinical application value.
