Simultaneous management of intestinal mucosal barrier dysfunction and gut microbiota dysregulation represents a significant challenge in the treatment of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). Herein, we report a novel system that integrates multi-enzyme mimicking cerium single-atom nanocatalysts (CeSACs) with Lactobacillus reuteri probiotics (LR@CeSACs) for multipronged management of IBD. In this system, CeSACs demonstrate robust multi-enzyme activities across a broad pH range, effectively scavenging elevated reactive oxygen species, downregulating pro-inflammatory cytokines, and suppressing the expression of fibrosis-related genes. Moreover, probiotics promote the targeting and retention of the CeSACs for sustained catalytic antioxidant therapy. In turn, the inflammation relief enabled by CeSACs promotes bacterial viability, allowing for the rapid reshaping of intestinal barrier function and the restoration of gut microbiota. Therefore, LR@CeSACs exhibit excellent catalytic anti-inflammatory and anti-fibrotic therapeutic effects, as well as a certain prophylactic effect, as demonstrated in several murine models.

Objective:To explore the safety, economic benefits, and clinical application effect of the new practical patent open window central venous catheter combination dressing (Patent No.ZL 202121652858.8).Methods:From October 2022 to October 2023, a randomized controlled trial was conducted. A total of 120 tumor patients in Yunnan Cancer Hospital with indwelling central venous catheters who met the inclusion and exclusion criteria were randomly divided into three groups at a ratio of 1∶1∶1 with random digit table, with 40 patients in each group: control group 1, control group 2, and the experimental group. In control group 1, Smith & Nephew IV 3000 dressing was used, in control group 2, 3M transparent dressing was used; and in the experimental group, the self - developed fenestrated central venous catheter combined dressing by the researchers was used for catheter maintenance. The skin surface bacterial colonization, the occurrence of medical adhesive-related skin injuries, catheter maintenance time, and maintenance costs were compared among the three groups. Results:In control group 1, there were 21 males and 19 females, with an average age of (51.53 ± 12.01) years. In control group 2, there were 22 males and 18 females, with an average age of (54.00 ± 11.03) years. In the experimental group, there were 19 males and 21 females, with an average age of (53.60 ± 9.41) years. During the 72 - hour observation period, 1, 3, and 2 cases of bacterial colonization occurred in control group 1, control group 2, and the experimental group respectively, and there was no significant difference among the three groups ( χ2 = 1.10, P = 0.577). No medical adhesive - related skin injury occurred in the experimental group, and there was a significant difference compared with the 4 cases in control group 2 ( χ2 = 4.21, P = 0.040). The average catheter maintenance time and maintenance cost in the experimental group were (15.20 ± 1.56) minutes and (8.11 ± 1.35) yuan respectively. Compared with (21.05 ± 3.31) minutes and (13.16 ± 1.03) yuan in control group 1, the differences were statistically significant ( t = 5.85, 5.05, both P<0.001). Compared with (21.08 ± 3.00) minutes and (15.17 ± 1.63) yuan in control group 2, the differences were also statistically significant ( t = 5.88, 7.06, both P<0.001). Conclusions:The open-window central venous catheter combination dressing designed in this study can effectively reduce the incidence of medical adhesive-related skin injury, and also has a better role in saving maintenance time and reducing maintenance costs, especially for patients who need repeated dressing changes at the puncture point for treatment with the advantages of, convenience, economy, speed, firm fixation and safety.

Human milk oligosaccharides (HMOs) are the third largest solid component in human milk, followed by lactose and lipids. The importance of HMOs to infants has attracted more and more attention. The core structure of HMOs consists of galactose (Gal),glucose (Glc),N-acetylglucosamine (GlcAc),fucose (Fuc) and sialic acid (Sia) derived N-acetylneuraminic acid (Neu5Ac),which link with different groups that have different effects.HMOs could be used as prebiotics to regulate intestinal flora,as antiadhesives to resist pathogen adhesion, and as modulators of cell responses to regulate cellular inflammation.Through the mechanisms above,HMOs can affect many aspects of infant growth and development, such as relieving diarrhea, preventing respiratory infections, alleviating allergies, interfering with obesity, and even affecting the acquired immunodeficiency syndrome. This article will explain the structure of HMOs,the metabolism inside human body and the definite mechanism of action in process of infantile development and describe some related diseases.

Medical humanistic spirit should be reflected in the whole process and the all-round of medical care. However, limited to the current cognition and condition, medical humanities in clinical practice are still not comprehensive and universal.By reading the existing literature and analyzing, combining with the own work experi-ence at the same time, this paper agreed that aiming at the special disease of cancer, the humanistic practice in the treatment of nursing had its own importance and its particularity, and it should recognize the disease and confront the patients and their families from the perspective of the whole person and omni-direction,make traditional clini-cal humanities extend to the family and extend humanistic care to family members of the patients. In this practice, medical staff can cultivate the consciousness of awing the life and respecting the patient in specific operations,es-tablish the sense of integration and improve their spiritual realm,so as to continuously improve their comprehensive quality in nursing service.

The dual luciferase reporter gene system provides sensitive readout, while it relies on a constitutively-expressed control gene for readout normalization. However, most standard control reporter genes are not constitutively expressed under all conditions. Here, we report an effective method to construct a control reporter plasmid for the dual luciferase reporter gene system that would be suitable for hormone research in silkworm cell lines. First, we modified BmVgP78M, a stably-expressed constitutive promoter in silkworm cells by mutating its hormone-related element. Then, we constructed the pRL-VgP78M control reporter plasmid by replacing the SV40 promoter and chimeric intron sequences in pRL-SV40 with the BmVgP78M sequence. Finally, we confirmed that the pRL-VgP78M control reporter plasmid could be stably expressed in silkworm cell lines via cell transfection experiments, and it was unresponsive to the induction of ecdysone, juvenile hormone, or their transcription factors. We thus obtained a control reporter plasmid pRL-VgP78M that could be expressed stably and moderately in silkworm cells. It can be readily used as the control reporter plasmid of the dual luciferase reporter gene system for hormone research in silkworm cell lines. It will also provide a reference for construction of control reporter plasmids of dual luciferase reporter gene systems that are adaptable to cell lines isolated from other species.
