Objective:
To revise and validate the reliability and validity of Chinese version of the Benevolent Childhood Experiences (BCEs) Scale among college students, so as to provide a scientific and reliable assessment tool for related research.
Methods:
From April to June 2025, a stratified cluster random sampling method was used to select 1 677 freshmen from a university in Xuzhou City as participants. The survey was conducted by using the revised Benevolent Childhood Experiences (BCEs) Scale, Childhood Trauma Questionnaire (CTQ) and Brief Suicidal Behavior Scale. Reliability analysis, exploratory factor analysis (EFA), confirmatory factor analysis (CFA), Spearman correlation analysis, and hierarchical linear regression analysis were employed to evaluate the scale s reliability, validity, and relationships among variables.
Results:
The mean scores of the 10 items on the BCEs Scale ranged from 3.97 to 4.46, with standard deviations ranging from 0.88 to 1.07. The Cronbach α coefficient was 0.96. Exploratory factor analysis extracted a single factor, explaining 71.21% of the total variance. Confirmatory factor analysis indicated good model fit ( χ 2/df =4.81, goodness of fit index=0.99, comparative fit index=0.99, normed fit index=0.99, root mean square error of approximation=0.05, standardized root mean square residual=0.01). BCEs total scores were negatively correlated with CTQ total scores and all its dimensions among college students ( r =-0.53 to -0.13, all P < 0.01). Hierarchical regression analysis showed that BCEs moderated the effect of CTQ on suicidal behavior, with a statistically significant interaction ( β=-0.11, t=-4.01, P <0.01).
Conclusion
The Chinese revised version of the BCEs Scale demonstrates good reliability and validity, and it is suitable for assessing BCEs among Chinese college students.

Journal of China Pharmaceutical University 2025;56(2):225-235
To investigate the effect of Ginkgo biloba extract (GBE) on lipids accumulation and the progression of atherosclerosis(AS), ApoE-/- mice fed with HFD were injected i.g. with two different doses of GBE (GBE-L 50 mg/(kg·d) or GBE-H 150 mg/(kg·d)) for 9 weeks. The core targets and potential mechanisms of GBE therapy for AS were investigated using network pharmacological target prediction. Subsequently, oxidized low-density lipoprotein (ox-LDL)-induced THP-1 was used to investigate the effect of GBE on foam cell formation through oil red staining and Dil-oxLDL fluorescent staining. The mRNA alterations in cholesterol uptake and efflux receptors were detected by real-time quantitative PCR. Finally, the impact of GBE on the expression of PPARγ as the core target was assessed through Western blot and immunofluorescence. It was found that GBE improved serum lipid profile, reduced necrotic cores and lipid deposition in aortic root plaques, and decreased the level of inflammatory factors in serum of ApoE-/- mice. Moreover, GBE treatment reduced the level of intracellular lipid accumulation and inhibited cholesterol uptake and efflux to alleviate foam cell formation. GBE activated PPARγ to enhance ABCA1/ABCG1-induced cholesterol efflux in THP-1. These results suggest that GBE can suppress lipid accumulation and alleviate foam cell formation by activating PPARγ pathway.

Objective:
To examine the reciprocal relationships of anxiety and depressive symptoms, uncertainty stress with academic buoyancy among college students, providing evidence for mental health promotion and academic resilience enhancement.
Methods:
A multi stage cluster random sampling method was used to selected 741 undergraduates from grade 1 to 2 of a university in Xuzhou, Jiangsu Province. Participants completed two waves of surveys (T1: October 2022; T2: October 2023) using the Uncertainty Stress Scale, Patient Health Questionnaire-9 (PHQ-9), Generalized Anxiety Disorder-7 (GAD-7), and Academic Buoyancy Scale. Cross lagged models analyzed bidirectional relationships between three mental health variables and academic buoyancy, followed by latent variable modeling integrating all mental health dimensions.
Results:
Cross lagged model results revealed that T1 uncertainty stress negatively predicted T2 academic buoyancy ( β =-0.14), while T1 academic buoyancy negatively predicted T2 uncertainty stress ( β =-0.11); T1 depressive symptom negatively predicted T2 academic buoyancy ( β =-0.08), while T1 academic buoyancy negatively predicted T2 depressive symptom ( β =-0.09); furthermore, T1 academic buoyancy negatively predicted T2 anxiety symptom( β =-0.10) ( P <0.05). Results from the latent variable cross lagged model of psychological problems (constructed from the three mental health variables) indicated that T1 psychological problems negatively predicted T2 academic buoyancy ( β =-0.09), while T1 academic buoyancy negatively predicted T2 psychological problems ( β =-0.09) ( P <0.05).
Conclusions
Longitudinal bidirectional relationships exist between mental health status and academic buoyancy in college students. Better mental health facilitates higher academic buoyancy.

Chinese Acupuncture & Moxibustion 2025;45(12):1803-1810
OBJECTIVE:
To reveal the research status of fire needle by analyzing its patent applications, so as to provide reference for the development of fire needle equipment and the promotion of this therapy.
METHODS:
By searching the incoPat global patent database, from its inception to December 29th, 2024, the patent data on fire needle was collected. The patent analysis was employed on patent application trends, geographical distribution, patent types, current legal status, applicants and inventors, overall technical composition and distribution of applicable diseases. With the help of incoPat's "shared value" evaluation model, the technical efficacy value of patent was comprehensively measured from 3 dimensions, i.e. technical stability, technological advancement and protection scope. Using SWOT analysis, the matrix of strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats of fire needle technique was constructed, and then its development trend was analyzed systematically.
RESULTS:
A total of 346 patents were included, comprising 23 granted invention patents (6.65%), 219 utility model patents (63.29%), and 157 patents were in an effective state of validity (45.38%). The number of fire needle patent applications showed a growing trend since 2013 and peaked in 2021. The top 3 provinces and cities in terms of the number of applications were Guangdong, Beijing and Shandong. Existing patents focus on improving convenience, reducing complexity, enhancing safety and increasing efficiency; and are specialized in treatment of dermatological diseases. The results of patent research on fire needle show the application of updated materials, invention of equipment and expansion of applicable diseases. However, there are still some limitations such as technical complexity, high cost, lack of composite talents, lack of awareness of patent maintenance and insufficient international promotion.
CONCLUSION
Multiple strategies are proposed on the development of fire needle therapy, i.e. enhancing financial support and expanding the number of diseases, giving full play to regional characteristics and advantages to promote resource sharing, deepening the integration of industry, research and education to improve the quality of patents, strengthening supervision to reduce low-quality patents, and carrying out high-level research to promote technical standardization and internationalization, and enhance global competitiveness.

6.Growing burden of asthma in China from 1990 to 2021: An analysis for the global burden of disease study 2021.
Xiaoyang WANG ; Tianli WEI ; Junmei XU ; Yingxue DING
Chinese Medical Journal 2025;138(23):3124-3130
BACKGROUND:
Asthma, one of the most widespread chronic respiratory diseases, has placed a considerable economic and social stress on China. This study examines the burden of asthma in China from 1990 to 2021 and forecasts future trends, providing guidance for establishing focused preventive and regulatory strategies.
METHODS:
Utilizing data from the Global Burden of Disease Database 2021, the analysis of trends in asthma burden was conducted for China from 1990 to 2021. Key indicators such as incidence, prevalence, mortality, and disability-adjusted life years (DALYs) were analysed. The investigation applied the estimated annual percentage change (EAPC), average annual percentage change (AAPC), and age-period-cohort model (APCM) to evaluate these trends. Furthermore, predictions for incidence and mortality in 2035 were generated using the Bayesian APCM and the Nordpred model.
RESULTS:
In 2021, there were 25,015,668 prevalent asthma cases in China, alongside 3,934,875 new cases and 26,233 deaths. The age-standardized incidence rate and age-standardized death rate for 2021 were 364.17 (95% uncertainty interval [95% UI]: 283.22-494.1) per 100,000 population and 1.47 (95% UI: 1.15-1.79) per 100,000 population, respectively. The age-standardized rates (ASRs) for incidence were detected to be elevated in the 0-4 years age group, and the prevalence was significantly higher in the 5-9 years age group compared to other cohorts. ASR for incidence and prevalence of asthma in China were lower than that in the global average. Between 1990 and 2021, the ASR of incidence, prevalence, mortality, and DALYs demonstrated a downward trajectory, with EAPC values of -1.17, -1.57, -4.69, and -2.98, respectively. People aged 0-9 years and over 60 years experienced a disproportionately higher disease burden. Projections indicate that the ASRs for incidence will continue to rise, whereas the death will continue to decline by 2035.
CONCLUSIONS
Between 1990 and 2021, a general reduction in the asthma burden in China was observed. However, the burden remains particularly high among people aged 0-9 years and over 60 years, underscoring the need for targeted interventions and policies to address the ongoing challenges of asthma.

Chinese Journal of Pediatrics 2025;63(11):1212-1217
Objective:To identify risk factors for mucus plug formation and to construct a nomogram-based predictive model in children with adenovirus pneumonia. Methods:In this retrospective cohort study, 149 pediatric patients diagnosed with adenovirus pneumonia were included. All patients underwent bronchoscopy at the Department of Respiratory Tianjin Children′s Hospital Machang District, between January and December 2024. Their demographic characteristics, clinical manifestations, laboratory findings, imaging features, and treatment details were analyzed. The information of patients were collected about clinical manifestations, laboratory findings, imaging features, and treatment information. Patients were divided into a mucus plug group and a non-mucus plug group based on bronchoscopic findings. Independent risk factors were determined using multivariable Logistic regression. And a predictive nomogram was subsequently developed. Model performance was evaluated using the area under the receiver operating characteristic curve and the Hosmer-Lemeshow goodness-of-fit test. Results:Of the 149 enrolled patients (84 boys, 65 girls), 49 cases were classified into the mucus plug group and 100 cases into the non-mucus plug group. Compared with their counterparts, children in the mucus plug group were older on admission ( P<0.05), more likely to have a recent history of lower respiratory tract infection, and exhibited a higher prevalence of consolidation or bronchiolitis patterns on chest imaging (all P<0.05), while preoperative corticosteroid use was less frequent ( P<0.05). Multivariable Logistic regression identified age on admission ( OR=1.14, 95% CI 1.01-1.29, P=0.031), lower respiratory tract infection ( OR=5.23, 95% CI 2.15-13.56, P<0.001), radiographic consolidation ( OR=2.64, 95% CI 1.10-6.61, P=0.032), and bronchiolitis pattern ( OR=2.39, 95% CI 1.04-5.60, P=0.042) as independent risk factors, whereas pre-bronchoscopy corticosteroid use was a protective factor ( OR=0.26, 95% CI 0.10-0.63, P=0.004). The nomogram predictive model demonstrated strong discriminative ability (area under the curve=0.83) and good calibration (Hosmer-Lemeshow P=0.358). Conclusions:The independent risk factors for mucus plug formation include older age, a recent history of lower respiratory tract infection, and chest imaging features of consolidation or bronchiolitis in pediatric adenovirus pneumonia. Pre-bronchoscopy corticosteroid therapy is a protective effect. The developed nomogram demonstrates favorable predictive performance and may facilitate early identification and timely intervention.

Objective:To investigate the effects of pulsed electric field (PEF) combined with gemcitabine (GEM) on the viability and stemness of HCCC-9810 cholangiocarcinoma stem cells.Methods:HCCC-9810 cholangiocarcinoma stem cells were established in serum-free, cytokine-rich medium and divided into four groups: the control group, GEM group, PEF group, and the pulsed electric field combined with gemcitabine (PEF+ GEM) group. Cell proliferation was detected using the Cell Counting Kit-8 (CCK8) assay. Cell viability and apoptosis rate were measured by flow cytometry. Cell invasion ability was assessed using the Transwell assay. The expression of stemness marker proteins CD133 and Octamer-binding transcription factor 4 (OCT4), as well as the expression of β-catenin, was detected by Western blotting. Results:Regarding cell viability, the GEM, PEF, and PEF+ GEM groups showed significantly lower cell viability and higher apoptosis rate than the control group at 24 h, 48 h, and 72 h (all P<0.05). At 48 h and 72 h, the PEF+ GEM group showed significantly lower cell viability (7.2%±0.3% and 5.9%±0.8%, respectively) than the GEM group (50.7%±0.6% and 31.0%±1.2%, respectively) and the PEF group (12.2%±0.2% and 12.8%±0.2%, respectively) (all P<0.05). Regarding stemness inhibition, the PEF+ GEM groups showed significantly lower expression levels of CD133 and OCT4 at 24 h, 48 h, and 72 h compared with the control group (all P<0.05). Notably, at 48 h, the PEF+ GEM group showed a significantly lower expression level of the OCT4 (0.61±0.02) than the GEM group (0.87±0.08) and the PEF group (1.00±0.10) ( P<0.01). Furthermore, at 24 h and 48 h, the GEM, PEF, and PEF+ GEM groups showed significantly lower expression levels of β-catenin compared with the control group (all P<0.05). Conclusion:Pulsed electric field combined with gemcitabine therapy demonstrated more effective anti-proliferation and cancer stemness inhibition effects on HCCC-9810 cholangiocarcinoma stem cells compared with either monotherapy.
