Insulin resistance (IR), as an important pathophysiological change in polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), plays a crucial role in female metabolic and reproductive disorders. Vitamin D deficiency is commonly observed in PCOS patients which is associated with long-term complications such as IR, reproductive disorders and cardiovascular diseases. In this paper, we discuss the research progress on the effect of vitamin D deficiency on PCOS patients with IR, in order to provide a better theoretical basis of the pathological mechanisms, diagnosis and treatment for these patients.
