Journal of Preventive Medicine 2025;37(2):148-153
Objective:
To conduct a scoping review on the types, construction methods and predictive performance of health literacy prediction models based on machine learning methods, so as to provide the reference for the improvement and application of such models.
Methods:
Publications on health literacy prediction models conducted using machine learning methods were retrieved from CNKI, Wanfang Data, VIP, PubMed and Web of Science from inception to May 1, 2024. The quality of literature was assessed using the Prediction Model Risk of Bias ASsessment Tool. Basic characteristics, modeling methods, data sources, missing value handling, predictors and predictive performance were reviewed.
Results:
A total of 524 publications were retrieved, and 22 publications between 2007 and 2024 were finally enrolled. Totally 48 health literacy prediction models were involved, and 25 had a high risk of bias (52.08%), with major issues focusing on missing value handling, predictor selection and model evaluation methods. Modeling methods included regression models, tree-based machine learning methods, support vector machines and neural network models. Predictors primarily encompassed factors at four aspects: individual, interpersonal, organizational and society/policy aspects, with age, educational level, economic status, health status and internet use appearing frequently. Internal validation was conducted in 14 publications, and external validation was conducted in 4 publications. Forty-two models reported the areas under the receiver operating characteristic curve, which ranged from 0.52 to 0.983, indicating good discrimination.
Conclusion
Health literacy prediction models based on machine learning methods perform well, but have deficiencies in risk of bias, data processing and validation.

Tumor angiogenesis plays a crucial role in tumor proliferation, invasion and metastasis, representing one of the hallmarks of cancer. Cancer-associated fibroblasts (CAF), as the core component of tumor microenvironment, have a decisive impact on tumor angiogenesis. On the one hand, CAF can secrete various cytokines such as vascular endothelial growth factor and hepatocyte growth factor, which activate the related signaling pathways to promote angiogenesis; on the other hand, CAF-derived exosomes carry pro-angiogenic factors and specific microRNA that drive this process through multiple signaling cascades. In addition, CAF can also modify the extracellular matrix, create favorable conditions for angiogenesis, and interact with immune cells to promote angiogenesis by regulating macrophage polarization. Based on these mechanisms, anti-angiogenic therapy targeting CAF has become a new research hotspot, ProAgio protein, eicosapentaenoic acid and other formulations have shown potential therapeutic effects, and various biophysical therapies for CAF have also shown great potential, which are expected to bring new breakthroughs to tumor treatment in the future.

Protein S-palmitoylation is a reversible post-translational modification of lipids that regulates protein localization, stability and protein-protein interactions. The thioesterification of palmitate to internal cysteine residues is catalyzed by palmitoyltransferase, while the removal of palmitate is mainly catalyzed by acyl-protein thioesterase. The S-palmitoylation of some tumor-related proteins is abnormally altered in tumor, which is closely related to the biological processes such as tumor cell proliferation, invasion, metastasis, drug resistance and immune response. Furtherly, exploring the characteristics of protein S-palmitoy-lation and its role in tumor progression could deliver new ideas in targeting protein S-palmitoylation for tumor therapy.

Abstract
Enhancing the health literacy of the entire population is a prerequisite for improving the health of the entire population, and since the health attitudes and behaviors formed during childhood and adolescence have a profound impact on the health patterns of adulthood, the enhancement of health literacy of children and adolescents is of particular importance. As the main place for children and adolescents to receive education, schools should better fulfil the function of education and promotion of health literacy. China has been carrying out the pilot and promotion of health promoting schools (HPS) since 1995, and is currently in the stage of comprehensive improvement of HPS construction. This paper introduces the background and characteristics of Health-Literate Schools (HeLit-Schools) in foreign countries and compares them with HPS in China, drawing on the advantages of HeLit-Schools to provide a new idea and a new way of thinking for the construction of HPS in China and for the practice of the "Healthy China Initiative".

9.Growth and development status of children with severe β-thalassemia and its correlation with serum HGB and SF levels in Bazhong area
Journal of Public Health and Preventive Medicine 2023;34(3):137-140
Objective To analyze the growth and development status of children with severe β-thalassemia major (β-TM) in Bazhong area and its correlation with hemoglobin concentration (HGB) and serum ferritin (SF) level, and to provide a theoretical basis for the diagnosis and treatment of children with β-TM in Bazhong area. Methods A total of 292 children with β-TM admitted to Bazhong Central Hospital from January 2019 to December 2020 were selected. The Z-score method was used to evaluate the growth and development of the children. According to the growth and development of the children, they were divided into the normal group (normal growth and development, n=163) and delayed group (growth and development delay, n=129). Another 60 healthy children were selected as the control group. The levels of HGB, serum SF, free triiodothyronine (FT3), free tetraiodothyroxine (FT4), and thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH) were compared among the three groups of children, and clinical data such as age, sex and age of onset were collected from the case system. Univariate analysis and logistic regression were used to analyze the independent risk factors of growth and development delay in β-TM children. Pearson correlation was used to analyze the correlation between growth retardation and HGB and serum SF levels in β-TM children. Results The serum SF and TSH levels in the delayed group were significantly higher than those in the normal group and the control group, while the levels of HGB and serum FT4 were significantly lower than those in the normal group and control group (P<0.05). There were significant differences in age of onset, course of disease, age of primary blood transfusion, compliance with iron removal, compliance with blood transfusion treatment, hypothyroidism and abnormal glucose metabolism between the delayed group and the normal group (P<0.05). Logistic regression analysis showed that poor compliance, HGB<90 g/L, and SF>2000 ng/mL were risk factors for growth retardation in β-TM children (P<0.05). Pearson correlation analysis showed that HGB was negatively correlated with HAZ score of β-TM children (r=-0.452 , P<0.05), while SF was positively correlated with growth HAZ score of β-TM children (r=0.412 , P<0.05). Conclusion The children with β-TM in Bazhong area are often accompanied by slow growth and development, which is closely related to HGB and serum SF levels. Especially for children with poor compliance of iron removal therapy, HGB<90 g/L, and SF>2000 ng/mL, the height, weight, and HGB and serum SF levels should be monitored regularly.
